Tombstone: All deleted scenes

All deleted scenes from the Director's cut of Tombstone. They have been shown in the order in which they appear in conjunction with the movie's theatrical release.
Personally i think the Director's Cut adds a deeper persona to Mattie and Wyatt's relationship.
The deleted scenes also help fill in small gaps that were somewhat unanswered in the theatrical version.

With all the hoopla of Kevin Jarre being fired several edits were made to either condense multiple scenes into one or to remove them altogether. One scene that was removed was Doc putting Kate on a train in Tucson.

Well, those weren’t all of the deleted scenes. I worked in Props on the film, and we shot two scenes where the Cowboys were planning how to get back at the Earp’s. One was inside of a train where Powers Booth was eating a steak while telling the boys his plan. Powers was the absolute best at fake eating. I was standing less than 10 feet from him watching him eat where I could hear the food in his mouth as he spoke, and when I went to reset his food (put more on his plate) he looked at me and said that he didn’t eat anything and was faking it. Another scene was with at night with the cowboys sitting around a large fire drinking bottles of whiskey, Powers giving a speech to rally up the boys.

The latter is seen briefly in the original trailer. Which is what brought me to this video. There’s a few missing scenes shown in the trailer that aren’t in this compilation. Earp and Josephine love scene, a scene where Jason Priestley’s character is shooting a gun, a longer Mexico shoot out cut, and a longer cut of Earp crying after Morgan gets shot. Would love to see these in full one day

Val Kilmer need not worry about the Academy Awards snubbing him. This institution has largely discredited itself to a point where it might almost be embarrassing to be nominated for anything. It's more of an instrument of the industry to self-promote than having anything to do with the art of cinema. In the arena of serious movie lovers, Val Kilmer's performance is without equal.

If I remember correctly Tommy Lee Jones won the award for his role in The Fugitive. Not here to debate who deserved it more but Tommy Lee Jones was phenomenal in that movie and like Val Kilmer in Tombstone, was instrumental for the movies success.

@@RushAnthem69 - Yes, no need to debate. We all have our favorites. I have always liked Tommy’s on-screen persona which, unfortunately, is largely always the same. As Peter O’Toole once lamented “I’m not an actor anymore, I’m a movie star”. There’s a big difference! Val studied both accent and the vernacular of that period in history. He changed his delivery, slowed down his cadence, altered his gate and diminished his appearance so as to approximate a disease that would soon kill him. Most “movie stars” would never have allowed this.

There were other scenes filmed from the original storyline that Kevin Jarre was using. Robert Mitchum was cast as Old Man Clanton and filmed scenes of Clanton getting killed in ambush by Mexican Federales, which was the basis of the Cowboys getting revenge on them in the opening scenes from the finished film. Also, I think there were scenes filmed of one of Wyatt's horses being stolen by Billy Clanton and Wyatt going to the Cowboy camp to get it back. He's nearly set upon by Billy Clanton and others who plan to kill him, but Curly Bill intervenes and makes Billy give Wyatt's horse back to him. Curly Bill and Wyatt have a conversation about why not live in harmony and they could all benefit from it.

true story. Val Kilmer has said many times... the only reason that movie got made was because of Kurt Russell stepping in and take over. Val Kilmer said in his book when Jarre was directing the film - he had this huge elaborate shot planned out. And when they finally executed it there was no shot... because the director put the camera in a bad spot. At that point Kurt Russell turned to him and said "Val, we're in trouble."

The only scene I don't like is where Sherm McMaster meets the Cowboys by a stand of saguaro cactus. I live in Cochise County, and we're too high for saguaros to thrive. They live at about 1,000 to 2,000 feet above sea level, such as around Phoenix. Much of Cochise County is above 4,000. But it's still the greatest Western ever made!

The term would have had to have existed in the first place, for them to have left it in. Unfortunately, huckle "bearer" had not even been made up yet. As must as I enjoyed *Tombstone* since late 2012, these scenes should have been in the theatrical version. It's not like these scenes would cause *Tombstone* to clock at a total of 3 hours or so like the more historically accurate 1994 biopic *Wyatt Earp* (which I enjoyed). My guess is the studio wanted to cut down *Tombstone* and remove a bit of plot points and character development just to make it slightly more action-oriented. Luckily, I got to purchase the Director's cut at Amazon and today I finally got to witness what was missing in the theatrical version.

She was an interesting woman, regardless of the legend at her side. To whom she swore "loyalty" until her death and didn't tell the press anything except what was already known.
