Thanks for all the Videos. They have been VERY helpful. Something myself and a half dozen of my friends have been looking for? If you had a Video for the options to properly connect instruments. Like it appears to have a Line Level input for connecting Amps/Pre Amps or Instrument for things like Acoustic Guitar? We have been trying different things as there is NOTHING like this online anywhere yet. But I bet there are MANY MANY MANY thousands of Musician streamers like us who have been waiting for a device like this. Now that it's here? Yea no CLEAR instructions on these options. Everything covering routing, MICs, Mix minus etc, etc. VEDRY WELL done Tutorials/Reviews THANK YOU!

You've hit one one of my biggest pain points with the RCP2: they really haven't done anything to update the music-related functionality. It's pretty much just a basic clean signal and that's about it. Boss recently released a similar product called the "Gigcaster" and while I'm not totally crazy about it, the virtual amp modeling is RIDICULOUS. It sounds incredible, you can tweak things however you'd like, and there's absolutely no latency or delay of any kind. I've been waiting for Rode to announce some kind of update with those features, but so far there's nothing. My personal theory is that building in that kind of sound modeling is tricky, and the other option is to license sounds from other companies, but that's probably incredibly complicated too. I'm glad the videos have been helpful!
@HeadSnapTV Жыл бұрын
@@tombuck I don't need "amp modeling" I am using a "Helix Floor" or "Helix Native" for my "Tones/Amp Modeling" and I am pretrty much set on sticking to my own stage gear/amp modelers.. I was just talking about explaining to people things we have had to learn the hard way with no tutorials. SIMPLE things like use LINE to connect something like your OWN Pre Amp or "Modeler" with everything sdet to unity etc... Had a few friends hitting the "Guitar" and running there ap thru there before realising that is basically just a symbol for plugging in a dry acoustic ewtc. EVERY musician is looking for answers to these ?s we had to go about trial and error to get set up. Would have been nice if these things were explained more in all the Videos we watched etc But no one talks about it.... Thanks again Tom

Hey Tom. Is it possible to connect the original road caster pro to wireless headphones?
@JohnScottB2 жыл бұрын
Being able to use both USB's on the same computer is something I theoretically thought could work - thank you for confirming. That's getting it ever closer to the functionality of the GoXLR with Windows machines. This would be a no brainer for me if you could do separate submixes for the different headphone outputs. My current interface has 4 separate headphone mixes (Antelope Discrete 4 SC) which I use to route audio to different places like a camera, an ATEM mini and two sets of headphones. Being able to discretely choose what audio goes where is pretty necessary for my workflow. So close, Rode!

I'm really interested to see where they'll take the USB functionality since it seems like there are a lot of possibilities and they've been pretty clear about wanting to add as many robust (Rodebust?) features as possible.

Certainly very interesting. I am drewling here on these video's. Want to replace my analog mixer with this RØDEcaster Pro II, also saves some space on my desk. Anyways, i am using BreakawayOne (Live) for the soundprocessing of live shows (haven't done it for a while but still), and that complicates things as i want to monitor the output (after processing) on my headphone. Till now i used a second soundcard in my PC for this purpose, and ASIO for the low latency (does the RØDEcaster Pro II even support ASIO?). Still have my Focusrite here also (which supports ASIO). But i think i can even manage to do this all with only the RØDEcaster without needing the Focusrite. Also i have a Lexicon MX300 multi-effect processor which i was using for a light reverb on the microphone, but i also don't need that anymore i guess. I am rambling a bit, but the main thing i wanted to say is that the use of multiple pathways is ideal and necessary for these kind of constructions if you want to use processing or an additional effect processor and with 2 USB's (soundcards) even on the same PC would be damn nice.

Wow - this is the product that just keeps on giving! Having a wireless monitor will be brilliant for what we do with our sports broadcasts. At the moment our camera operator sometimes isn't close enough to the commentators to hear what they are saying and therefore react to what they are saying with the camera (for instance film a player specifically that they are talking about) but with this function they can wear bluetooth headphones and monitor them all the time. Big question is do you know what radius it has? If it's around 10 metres that would be brilliant, 20m would be unbelievable and anything more than that would be out of this world. Have you tested the distance yet? Thanks as always.
@mp9992 жыл бұрын
Just to add that we use long cables to monitor at some stadia but often because of crowds cables cannot be run safely, hence the wireless option would be brilliant.

I've only used it in the same room, so about 3-4 meters. I'll be interested to test the distance with the official firmware later this week 👍 And I feel you about running cables- it's extremely tough and has a lot of opportunity for things to go wrong.

Thanks for the public fader swapping answer! It usually is common on mixers that you can swap faders, you’ll sometimes see a famous mixer being used with other faders, there’s usually no risk (if it’s too hard to remove it just means you can’t change them). It’s great when you want specific colors for channels (the more colors you have the better you feel😃) or when you don’t like the touch and feel of original faders, or having big or tiny fingers xD.

I'm assuming I need wired headphones that connect to the Rodecaster? I did try bluetooth headphones just to confirm it works like that, but despite them connecting fine, I never got any audio out of them, and the actual db interface didn't even move no matter what settings I used. My headphones are Sennheiser's RS185 with an actual dock. The dock then plugs into my PC with SPDIF, but the dock also has RCA. Would I be able to connect the dock into the Rodecaster with RCA cables? Using Voicemeeter in the meantime for my headphones and splitting tracks.

RODECaster Pro 3 - will be an ideal solution when the manufacturer can make normal software, will not use asio4all, and will also be able to do normal software channel routing, such as Go XLR. The vocal processor inside is just as important as the device's versatility. By themselves, podcasts do not have much popularity, as well as the income from them, because the narrow focus kills the device, and the versatility makes it popular. I will not praise the device as others do in the comments, but it already fulfills most of the requests of a person working with sound, but this is not the ultimate dream. Thanks for the review.

Hi Tom, Is there a way to directly connect your iPhone to the RCP2 to be able to record your livestream call, or are you just relegated to using bluetooth connection to make that happen. I ask this because using Bluetooth connection, at times there can be vocal delays where it can miss the first 1 or 2 seconds of the person speaking on the phone each time they speak from time to time. I was thinking using a USB C to Lighting cable I think would prevent that and get a cleaner and better recording. Let me know what you can please if there is some kind of workaround on this. Thank you.
@tombuck2 жыл бұрын
Ahh, yes! This is there the SC19 USB cable comes in handy (it's a lightning to USB C cable that's MFI certified...basically that just means it'll work with something like the RCP). It's really important to use that cable, or another "MFI" cable, otherwise things likely won't work well.
@punknugget5612 жыл бұрын
@@tombuck Thank you and I did use an MFI certified USB-C to lightning cable, but when I connected it all I did was charge it it would not connected and when I spoke to the TechSupport guys at RODE, they told me only Bluetooth will work with mobile phones. Especially iPhones. I was just trying to figure out if you found a workaround with that? I even spoke to them about the SC19 cable and they said it wouldn’t even work to be able to live stream or record mobile phone calls. Again if you find a workaround on this one please let me know, thank you.

I haven’t but I’m very curious about it since Roland has been making video switchers for so long.

@@tombuck Thanks for such a quick response. I am torn between that and the rodecaster pro 2. I just need to declutter my space and get down to one box if I can. Just don't know how good the Roland sounds compared to the RCP 2. I'm sure it is not quite as flexible in the audio area but I'm wondering how smart those pads are and if they can be programmed to work as a switcher. My primary focus is audio as I am a singer/songwriter that has had to venture into livestreaming since I couldn't tour.

Are you able to route different mic/line inputs to different USB channels? Like mic 1-2 goes to usb primary but 3-4 goes to secondary?

Currently no, but I'd love to see that in a future update.

Great video - thanks! How does the bluetooth feature actually work? Is it possible to use it "both ways" the same time - e.g. play music from an ipad AND send signal to an bluetooth speaker? What do you think about using the RCP II for an event setting - sending the audio signal via bluetooth e.g. to a LG Maui 5 speaker?
@otm7772 жыл бұрын
It should work both ways otherwise it wouldn't be very beneficial. If you take a look @7:47 you can see his phone is already paired to the RCP prior to connecting the speaker. Paired input devices would be assigned to a channel for volume control via a fader (physical or virtual). Output volume for a BT speaker appears to be controlled by the master knob.
@tombuck2 жыл бұрын
Currently the beta firmware only allows me to connect one at a time. Not sure if that'll change in the future, but it definitely makes sense to use a phone and speaker simultaneously.
@otm7772 жыл бұрын
@@tombuck Wow, I stand corrected. I truly hope Rode enables simultaneous usage in a firmware update very soon. Granted, just having the addition of BT output to a speaker is definitely a bonus! I guess that answers my question whether you can output to "multiple" BT speakers simultaneously, but that's certainly not as important/desirable as having a BT input & output paired at the same time.🙂

Does anyone have any idea on the Microphone settings where the Levels are - there is a P48 on / off button and a little icon that looks like the O from the Rode logo also with an on / off button. What does that O do???
@tombuck2 жыл бұрын
That's a great question. I had to ask Rode about that and they told me it's a phase correction option. If you have two mics next to each other and one of them is sounding strange (either a bit too quiet or too thin), they might be out of phase and this will bring them back together. Actually a super cool feature that seems a bit overlooked.

I'm excited to play around with the possibilities of the RCP. I do hope that they will modify it so you don't have to stop recording just to edit the fader assignments, We do this with A&H boards all the time. Having this on the RCP will be awesome.

I think currently it's probably to protect users from themselves, but being able to reassign things while recording would definitely be helpful.

I don't remember the make or where Tom got it from, but it's a popfilter ment for the RE20 (fits perfect on the Procaster). Take a look at the last live stream about the RCP II, and you get the 100% correct answer! :-)

One killer feature the RPC2 is missing is the ability to dial-in EQ settings from a recording rather than trying to do it live. It's almost impossible to voice and adjust EQ etc on the fly.

I guess one thing is with two usb c´can the atem use one of them?
@tombuck2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jason! The ATEM is great, but in my opinion, it's audio handling is the biggest weak point. I normally just connect the ATEM and RCP to the computer separately for best results. But the new RCP does have a line level output, which means you can run the monitor outputs into an ATEM or camera with better results than before if needed.

Also, I'm still trying to figure out what replaced the master headphone output that was on the front of the first Rødecaster. Is it just defaulted to the first headphone jack now or what?
@otm7772 жыл бұрын
Yes, just use headphone output #1 on back on RCP 2. I believe the one on front of RCP 1 was more about convenience than anything.
@tombuck2 жыл бұрын
Basically yes, it's just #1 on the back. I'm not 100% sure why they removed the front one, but I do know it caused a lot of confusion since many people didn't understand it was the same control as the rear #1 as well. Maybe it was just to keep things simple? I used the front jack every day, but honestly have been totally fine without it so far.

That's a good question! The Rode NT-USB Mini is awesome if you're able to position it close to your mouth. Beyond that, in the sub $100 range there are some really decent mics from Samson and Fifine. They won't totally blow you away or anything, but they're great for the price and perfect for general use.

Question that nobody has covered yet … connecting this to a console, more specifically in my case … Xbox One X. Tom: I'm an adjunct professor and deliver my drone certification (Part 107) class online using Ecamm and Zoom. So it's only me. I use the Samson G-Track Pro USB mic and it has been pretty good (anything is better than the built-in mic of my iMac 2017!). Should I still consider a RODECaster Pro II? I'm sure I'll be upgrading my microphone one day to something better, but I just don't think I'll be using ¼ of the features of the RProII. Your opinion?
@tombuck2 жыл бұрын
As much as I love the RCP2, it sounds like it might be overkill in your situation. If the Samson is getting the job done, then there's no reason to upgrade! If it's leaving something to be desired, then maybe there's another USB mic that would help? (I've really been liking the Rode NT-USB+ and the Sennheiser Profile.) If you get to the point where you want to use XLR mics and/or add multiple other audio sources, then the RCP would be a great help.
