It’s false that getting saved or praying instantly solves your problems. I’m an ex meth addict. I’ve been clean for 10 years. It’s hard. But I learned quickly , when you’re sinning and ruining your life the devil isn’t afraid of you. When you start doing the right thing however, he doubles down on you. 15 years sober this year. Went to hell and back. Literally. 3 days in a coma, 8 days in ICU, all while handcuffed to a hospital bed facing 10 years in prison. I was at my breaking point. I remember feeling like there was nothing after getting high. It was either stay high or learn to live in misery. It was all a lie that my demons made me believe. After about a year or two of being sober, you realize it was all a trick. You just have to get that far. Tom is truly the greatest.

I'm saved, I've met Jesus, and I've spent a lot of time at bible study but that never worked for me like it did for you. Satan isn't done with me yet. Don't just assume that what worked for you will work for everyone because it often doesn't. We both have the same faith, the same God, the same prayers, the same church, and yet I'm still here barely surviving. Count your blessings and don't take it for granted. And never assume it will work for everyone the way it did for you.

This song makes my heart sad. My beautiful, tiny but mighty daughter is fighting for her life. At 34 yrs old, she is in end stage liver disease. Alcohol destroys lives and families. Tom, this past 2 years crazy . My daughter had twin baby. Boys. 3/2019 Baby James, was found to have liver disease. Through 19' and into 20' he held on . I struggled not to fall back into... I had to fall forward to God to stay Sane. Baby James the brave , graduated to heaven . I'm still torn... as a grandfather, I cry . His twin brother Hendrix the haze .. is 2 now . It made me tear up, too, my man. I used to drink a liter of whiskey every day or so. A fifth was "doing good"... I stopped the liquor long ago and only drank beer from then on, but still struggle. It's easy for me to crush 8, 10, 15 *strong* beers in a day (not your typical bud light). I've been building up the courage to stop for a couple weeks and plan to give it another real old fashioned shot very soon. @WhatsHappening783402 Some pills "recreationally"? You must be young. I thought the same thing. Been paying about $500/ month for my doctor and the suboxone he prescribes me for over 15 years. If I don't take it, I won't sleep for weeks, but also can't work, can't function, and will be in the fetal position on the floor kicking and sweating for days. My "friends" I used to do pills with all got their kids taken from them, got put in jail, lost all their wealth, and 2 of them died. We were just having fun and were way too smart to get addicted. We were just taking them recreationally too. I suggest video games or maybe keeping reptiles/ amphibians as a recreation.

My dad told me something that has helped me, he has passed now, but was also a former alcoholic, he told me "son it is not the last drink that gets you it's the first one, Stay away from that one and you'll make it" Everytime I am tempted, every time the enemy tries to convince me one will be ok I remember that first one is the one that will get me back down that road. The phrase “the teacher is always quiet during a test” is so very accurate which can be difficult when someone is struggling with their faith. The demons are ALWAYS loudest just before a breakthrough because they want you to return to them. They put up a nasty fight. But when that breakthrough comes, I can’t explain the peace. Not a single day is easy, the tests and trials continue, but strength grows. Our addictions haunt us forever. But God is a faithful God and He is already using you to help so many people, not just this song, but all of your work. When you wonder if God is listening, He is. It doesn’t mean life magically becomes easy. The opposite actually. Once I made the conscious decision to really turn my life over, things got worse. So much worse. But I held tight. I prayed and I BELIEVED. I learned to give up my problems and I watch the situations I thought were destroying me turn out in my favor. I’m not rich, I struggle with addiction myself (cigarettes), I have one daughter who is not a believer. It wasn’t me who got us out of those situations like she thinks. I couldn’t do it. It was me just turning it over to God and watching the pieces move in amazement. I have peace because I know no matter what happens next, and trust me, it’s always something, it’s already handled. The pieces have been moving in Tom’s life to lead him where he is now. God has been listening, but we all still struggle with the demons. There is no escaping that, only the peace to know they won’t win. I believe our hope lies in the knowledge of that!

Im a combat veteran and Ive been sober since Dec 8th 2021. Addiction brought me to the edge and i almost lost my life many times and been brought to the brink of death. I was in a hospital bed for almost a month and had to rehabilitate myself because i could barely walk, i had kidney failure, 2nd and 3rd degree burns and i was broken. As a pastor's son who fell into depression because I was different, and wasn't accepted; I can relate heavy to this song. The church is supposed to be inviting to everyone, but the hypocrital side, is that they only wanted people who believed everything they did. The hardest part was that my dad was the pastor my whole life growing up. Been sober 10 years.. theres no magic pill, theres no magic meeting, no church building that will get you sober.. only surrender. I accepted Christ almost 20 years ago, but I didn’t give him my heart till 10 years ago.. when I fully surrendered and quit playing God and trying to do his job for him in all things … that’s when I got free… I do attend church today… but God is with me EVERYWHERE….there is hope, don’t give up!!

I know how that feels...just know that your momma wants the best for you so live your life to honor her by living your best life while still remembering the good times...My mom passed away unexpectedly 11 years ago & while it still hurts I know she wouldn't want me to be sad so I choose to be grateful she was my mom and smile when I think of her. I take comfort knowing she's watching over me in heaven just awaiting my arrival when it's my time to join her...until then I continue to be happy with the life she helped give me, I take care of my dad, my hubby & my kiddo. Know you are loved and still being looked after, and if you pay attention, you'll see her in everything around you... ((hugs))
