A bit of a slog of a day, catching a jack first thing from the river Stour and nothing more for a few hours. Driving over to the river Severn and one more little jack landed.

Steve, absolute pleasure to meet you yesterday. Genuinely nice to see such passion not just in the fishing but in everything related to preserving the waters. And yes, putting the world to rights always puts a smile on my face. Good luck with it all and definitely keep doing what you’re doing bud.

Morning Steve, lovely couple of jacks, beautifully marked. Will possibly go today and try and get a couple, jacks are feisty little buggers and still fun to catch. Mrs is off to a family party , so that’s my excuse for not going.

😂😂 any excuse for any angler 😂😂 Cheers, you’re spot on about the jacks, always lots of fun

Hiya, recently I’ve been buying mine when a chap off faceache sells them. He doesn’t make to order just now and then has spare. They do vary depending if I’m on the canal or river. For the canal usually 5-8g if it’s the river 8-12g depending on how deep and fast the river is. Hook size is usually 10/0 or 7/0 👍

Hi Steve, I've been doing more small river fishing in the last year. Could you tell me if there are any free fishing areas on the Stour? I've never fished it. I'm mostly interested in mixed bag, chub perch, roach etc
@BlackCountryPiker28 күн бұрын
Hiya, there’s only two stretches that are private that I know of. The BAA at Stourton and there’s another privately owned bit further down but I’m not sure where but they do or did do day ticket. The rest of the stour is CRT. More a case of if you can get near or in the water

@@BlackCountryPiker Thanks very much Steve! Really appreciate that. Yes, it's been jungle warfare where I've been trying, not recognised fisheries but i've had some fish and some bites n stings! 😀 Howeverr can't beat that boyhood excitment not knowing if a bite is a minnow or a 3lb chub! Nobody even knows there are fish in some places. I did because I watched herons, egrets and kingfishers. Tight lines mate.

The severn has had that horrible bronzy tinge for months and ribbesford has alot of floating white frothy scum on the surface in the mornings

A couple of weeks ago we did a bit of bailiff work over at brook section. The water looked perfect for some lure work. Typically, my day off it went tits up and stayed that way. It sounds like it’s been ongoing for some time then? The problem I guess is the Severn has loads of tributaries so is easily effected isn’t it. Did you catch?
