WELL IT STARTED OUT AS A HOBBY AND I HAVE ALOT OF PEOPLE ASKING ME TO MAKE VIDEOS FOR THEM. BUT RECENTLY MY P3 STARTED GLITVHING ALOT AND HALF OF THE TIME IT DOESNT WORK. I bought my P4P + with the bright built-in display for all of the advantages Tom described. After using it for a couple of months I regret getting the built-in display because of the buggy software and DJI's lack of support. The GO app becomes unresponsive and crashs when in certain intelligent flight modes and is 3 versions behind the IOS Go app. The same thing applies to the P4 Advanced with built-in display. Until DJI is willing to support it, I recommend staying with controller with external display.

Keep in mind three things about the PRO+: 1- The built-in display never needs charging. If i used my iphone 7+ in bright sunlight, it would soon need recharging, preventing use of my drone AND my phone (which would be difficult to access WHILE flying as well). 2- the built-in display brightness is ADJUSTABLE. Out of the box, it's way bright enough in daylight and i discovered it was set to only 75%! 3- The Pro+ DJI GO 4 app simply does NOT WORK (crashes) out of the box, making the drone totally unusable. There is a workaround (restore/reset factory settings), but you'll not get that from DJI tech support who will tell you to return it to them for a three-week turnaround to possibly get a refurbished unit in return OR return to the seller in exchange for yet another one WITH the SAME issue (as many do, apparently). How does this Hong Kong-based DJI release a product to the U.S. KNOWING about this problem???

Have you had any issues with the P4P+? I've been having quite a few. When mine loses video signal it doesn't regain signal until I restart the drone. So I have to fly it all the way back with no video signal. And sometimes the signal is quite intermittent. It will lag every 1 second. Basically every second it will freeze for about 0.2s. I'm wondering if this is just a firmware update fix or something wrong with my drone. Also the tablet seems to have quite a slow processor.

I haven't had any issues like that except the touch screen doesn't always want to work. It took me awhile to get used to changing aperture. It really doesn't seem that loud either. I do light the brightness on the screen! I was amazed how bright it was

8:52 Autopilot only works on iOS anyway. I am surprised that DJI went with Android when they sell Phantom 4 in Apple stores. Too bad about not being able to run third-party apps. That's a dealbreaker for me. If / when I get a P4 Pro, it will be without the +. Thanks, Tom, you saved me $400!

I've ordered my P4P as '+' version (with inbuilt bright screen),... then suddently I thought that I should use the regular P4P remote in combination with the iPad 4 mini... So I've ordered the P4P regular (not '+') from DJI, for having a controller on top of the '+' remote. Unfortunately the P4P (regular) remote is sold and will ship with a pretty cheap 'plastic' tablet/smartphone holder (not aluminum as with P4 or Inspire), this would cause additional cost. I know by now that I will use the P4P+ remote much more due to the faster setup, longer battery time advantage due to the remote battery feeding the attached and bright display. Also the module with HDMI and Micro SD Card slot is an advantage, everything else is based on software updates (flight simulator, etc.). Just my personal thoughts of course. :)

Comparing iPad/PP+ bootup speeds isn't realistic because who ever turns their iPad off? iPad would be ready to go instantaneously from sleep mode while the Pro+ would take 15-20 seconds to boot up. Phantom Pro is definitely the winner there.

I'm thinking maybe the reason you can't edit comfortably with the Pro+, minus the headphone jack and too much motor noise is because the SD Card is meant to be removed and placed in a persons laptop for best editing environmental. Video you are shooting to be edited most likely should be directed to copy to the SD Card. Giving you more access to a library of software tools and other recorded matter. What do you think?

I have a problem with my new Phantom Pro Plus. The Gimbe is pointing the camera to the left, even after doing several Auto Gimble Calibrations. Look close at the 2 Phantom the guy has on the table. notice how the cameras are pointed straight. Mine points to the left, weather the craft is on, or off. So I go to DJI's webb sight to send it in for repair. The return info says my zip code does not match my address. It's been the same address and zip code since we built the house, 11 years ago. We have no trouble getting our mail from the post office, FedEx, or UPS. This is getting frustrating. I cant even send a defective product back. My Phantom is 7 days old.

Test the simulator included in DJI Go App with both of them and after tell to everybody what happens. The included display doesn't work. You can't use the simulator on it. It's incredible.

Additionally, the Phantom 4 pro plus doesn't crash, loose contact or blank out like any other standard ipad, or other tablet, cell phone and so on that needs attaching to other controller. There are no problems with software updating and never any glitches as there are with the standard controller.

Tom, What do you use on the ipad for editing your drone footage? I have been perfectly content to use imovie, but I'm sure there are better apps out there for this. sometimes you need to edit more than just stitching clips together and adding sound.

The DJI P4P with a IPad 4 mini has a higher price not less then the + version . you pay about 2200$ for ipad + drone instead of 2000$ for + version. also i dont understand what you talking about editing on the screen of the pro+? why should anyone edit videos on this? this is absolutly nothing anyone would do, so it no big contra. i will go for the pro+ because in the end its cheaper and brighter. i never will do post production on it. how important is the storage on the pro plus RC? the drone has a sd card itself right? so i shouldnt matter at all. please correct me if i´m wrong. thanks for the videos. besides my few points, it helped me a lot!

Tom. I shot some test footage with my P4P and watching the playback on the remote, there is no audio. I was holding the P4P on a friend who was talking (not flying the P4P)...and volume was on Max...and no audio. Shouldn't I be able to hear the audio right then and there hitting the play button?

Great review. One more important consideration: IOS devices use apple maps in DJI Go, Android devices (as in the P4P+) use Here maps. Here maps are (in a lot of areas) very outdated - this may be a problem in some cases - ie.where new buildings have appeared etc.

Hmmm-if that screen goes, or gets broke/dropped-you have had it. Whereas on the "old" 4, you have the option. This sounds like an incremental upgrade-and not one I would go for. But great review!

i got the phantom 4 pro + cuz it seemed to have so many advantages. now i find that the goggles won't have the same abilities with the phantom 4 pro + as with the phantom 4 pro regular. so lame, as its actually the more expensive product. i know you have a good relationship with dji. can you encourage them to maybe fix this via firmware so that the phantom 4 pro + can actually do more than just have live view with the goggles? if enough pressure is put on them maybe they'll add it via firmware.

Because android is very cheap to license. What single purpose custom Apple device is there? *waits*. Also, lets look at how the GSPro software, only runs on Apple hardware, not even their own. hey dude,can you tell me is there a wire in the bracket between the remote and the screen in the pro+? is there a bracket that can lift the screen higher than it is atm?I cant use my fingers due to a spinal accident but can use my hand with the base of my thumbs on top of the joystick so i need the screen to be about two inches higher to get my fingers beneath.

Sorry to hear about your accident, but my right thumb still interferes with the bracket, too...btw, I'm a "thumber" not a "pincher", so I rest my thumb on top of the stick to fly. I know that puts it higher -- which causes the thumbnail interference -- but that's how I fly. Since my business involves going down the Rabbit Hole and creating custom HMIs (human-machine interfaces) with composite thermoplastics in professional sports (F1, IndyCar, Olympics) and the industrial workplace, I have redesigned the controller so I can pronate my hands outward and still have good control. However, I just wish the metal bracket were higher and more like the one on the non-plus version.

try flying your dji with fatsharks v3's.. you will love it for fun or jobs. use mini hdmi cord direct to your tablet and mirror the image. you get the same dji go screen in your goggles. thanks for your vids. I watch them all the time.

Tom - I enjoy your videos - as always - very well done. I have put a request to DJI Support to address the difference between the DJI 4 Go App and the PH4 Pro + DJI 4 Go app. The built in unit although it is nice and bright there are a number of differences that need to be addressed: 1. Under Advance settings in MC Settings … SMART RTH is not on this controller, but is available under the DJI GO APP… 2. Active Avoidance - under Visual Nav Systems is NOT available on this controller, but is available under the DJI GO APP .. 3. In the same location - Advance Visual Sensors is NOT available on this controller, but is available under the DJI GO APP . 4. Under HD -- Work Freq. when set to 5.8 G - it defaults back to 2.4 G upon power up .. and has to be physically changed back .. 5. Gimbal Settings - Centering Camera option - is NOT available on this controller, but is available under the DJI GO APP .. 6. Under Camera - Enable Hardware Decoding - is NOT available on this controller, but is available under the DJI GO APP .. 7. Under Camera - PEAK FOCUS THRESHOLD - is NOT available on this controller, but is available under the DJI GO APP .. Are you aware of these differences and have you heard from DJI that they plan to make the "+" App more in line with the DJI 4 Go App. Thanks in Advance

I agree John -- Talked with DJI and basically they said they have NO PLANS TO UPGRADE the PH Pro + Software .. it is really a WASTE of the $400 Extra -- and they will not exchange my RC for a Standard PH 4 Pro RC -- but hey will sell me another RC for $319 and will not take the Original RC back or any credit for it. Myself and a lot of other people got SUCK-IN for a BRIGHT Display and loss of a lot of other options.. DO NOT BUY THE PHANTOM 4 PRO + with attached Screen ...!!!!

John - I like the looks of the Crystal Sky also .. but in reading the specs on the DJI web site .. it appears that it also has a DJI Special Designed Android GO APP for the Crystal - like this one and you CAN NOT add any software to it .. like this one ... so I am afraid that it might be too similar. I would have to get a detailed explanation from the Tech Support Dept. to make sure ... I would purchase it also .. if I knew it was truly functional ... and not just another "Bright Screen"..!!

It should be that is possible to do the same thinks differently but I don't know how. Please, could you help me about this kind of problem? The only problem with the turning on test is that a lot of us have the iPad already on and on sleep mode, and that way it´s way faster the ipad :) I don´t think it´s worth the extra for having basically a brighter screen. And it´s terrible you can´t download more apps.

Can anyone please tell me if the Phantom 4 Pro has the ability to come back to the controller by using home lock in case I am moving during piloting,, ( like on the boat for example ) so meaning my starting and current position have changed.. thanks a lot

you can put the SIM card in a phantom 4 phone you unscrew the three screws at the bottom of the phone and then you can put a SIM card in
