This video is all about tongue posture! I've received many messages from patients who are trying to attain proper tongue posture on their own and in this video, I explain why it's not a good idea to do this without the help of a practitioner who is trained and experienced in providing myofunctional therapy! Myofunctional Therapy is a type of physical therapy for the muscles that surround and support the tongue.

Why is mainstream dentistry not looking at issues like tomgue posture in adults .Instead, they say all growth is over , only benefit adults can have is cosmetic

@Ayo well dentistry is a job, so that's a strange thing to complain about. More importantly though, there's no credible evidence of any medical benefits of orthotropics, so no ethically sound, non-quack dentist will recommend it.

@ayo9057yes, but its what they weongly THINK makes money. innovation makes more. help everyone and you "lose" customers briefly. -are jobs for a purpose, or is that just pretend? capitalism doesnt work bc we act like we can trick ourselves into doing the right thing by focusing on money in reality, focusing on money isnt even the best way to make more money. greed makes you poor and miserable, like most dentists

@@joshbarghest7058Josh the reason you may not be able to find “credible evidence” I.e. research, is because orthotropics mostly threatens the revenue streams of orthodontists and the mainstream medical field. Free solutions and prevention are rarely popular. Fixes and treatments that cost patients money are more often touted best, and researched, and thus more readily “credible.”

I feel a bit lost with the tongue posture thing. Few years ago, my tongue was always on the lower palate. Now, with (a lot) of practice, my tongue is always resting automatically in the upper palate (so it's supposed to be good). Yet, I am not sure it is such a good thing because I have strange sides effects that my be linked to this. Maybe because my tongue is pushing pretty hard all the time on the upper palate, wich is not so good...

I've been having TMJ symptoms for a while now (right eye with occasional muscle twitches, tinnitus and jaw cracking sounds when chewing/opening mouth) and have been training for the last 2 days to keep my tongue in the right position as described in your video (used to have a low tongue posture). It has been surprisingly easy for me to do it for the entire day. Have you had patients with similar problems and if so, would you know how long it can take before I see improvements specially when it comes to the muscle twitches? Also, as per your suggestion I'm looking for a myofunctional therapist where I live. Thank you for the great content!

I have too high and narrow palate for my tongue to rest at the palate, there's always a gap there where my tongue cannot reach, so it can't create suction. Also my mouth is so narrow and small that for my tongue to "rest" it extends way beyond my front teeth and the tip coming out between the lips, slightly. That's the least painful position and when I can breathe the best. If I keep the tongue in, and behind the teeth, it's in a too tight of a space and also obstructs my breathing because the mass of tongue pressing against the back of my throat. So simply, there's not enough space in my mouth for a normal sized tongue and there's no way I can make it to take it's natural and normal position. I have severe TMJ issues and I went through many years of failed orthodontics as a child and teen. It did not help. So I guess I can't but suffer.

This topic is incredibly educational. After getting dental crowns on my upper and lower incisors, I developed a habit of letting my tongue rest in the middle because I couldn’t get used to the foreign touch. Interestingly, this has contributed to mouth breathing (especially since I also have sinusitis) and has led to potential gastric issues like bloating. Could you provide some tips for improving nasal breathing and maintaining proper tongue posture in this situation? By the way, I learned so much from this video-thank you! ❤

@@armrahi Yes, I think my tight/strained digastric muscles were the reason for it so I looked up release techniques on YT. I also discovered I've been breathing wrong by using my chest instead of my abdomen (diaphragmatic breathing) which was a big contributor to my tight neck/upper back muscles and stress in general. Diaphragmatic breathing is also way better for oxygen so properly breathing like this while stretching helped a lot.

Hey, quick question, I've subbed too ! For my tongue, Its perfectly behind the top incisors(not pressing). Occasionally when I breath through my nose, sometimes I feel air reaching the top of my tongue too(my tip 2/3 of the tongues stays on top, bottom is kept unconscious haha). Is it normal or you should feel literally no air in your mouth/tongue ? while breathing through nose. Thanks and bless you with lots of love

Hey great video and info! I’ve been dealing with a painful scalloped tongue for 2 years now and have had no luck in relieving it after seeing multiple professionals. I’ve tried the night guard and didn’t notice a difference either. I do notice I don’t have proper tongue posture but one of those doctors are hours away from where I live. Do you think this could help my problem? And have you had patience with painful scalloped tongue ? Thanks 🙏

I have low tongue posture because I have a permanent retainer bonded onto the back of my lower front teeth. My tongue tip tends to gravitate there because it's like a little ridge. Should I have it removed? Back when I had braces I had a palate expander across the roof of my mouth which made my tongue gravitate there and I think thats where my tongue position would normally be if it wasn't for this permanent retainer.
