Somehow I still remember hat Rafa was injured many times and still manged to win GS. Was it also "controversial"?. But let's face it Novak is the GoAT and Nadal is for me the second greatest and they can just find the way,. They can change tactics, play through pain etc. Without injuries they would have 30+ slams

Uncle Tony is no Dr, nor is he in Nole's body to know how Djokovic is feeling! The scan shows an injury so there can be no question. Djokovic should be honored at that AO simply because of the Numbers and how many times Novak has won the tournament... Re being booed of the court is disrespectful

Already MRI showed he is injured n so he retired given his age he can’t continue on like the past. So faking injury is not true n case closed. There is no need to talk so much. The more u talked especially citing his fake injury shows one character n upbringing. 😊

I’ll never forget watching Murray win while on all fours, wimpering and head hanging after every point, but winning! Murray coaching the Djoker, it’s a team made for these kinds of matches. Him playing with an injury, yet winning against Carlos, was the ultimate game plan.

This all started after 2017 when both Roger and Rafa returned from major injury to win, all four grand slams between them 2017 is considered the Neo Federer and possibly his most glorious time on the court playing some of the best tennis anyone has ever seen in history. Both Roger and Nadal won almost everything that year he wants the same glory so he comes back from injury to win type thing he’s full of shit nobody and I mean nobody can win a tournament with a torn meniscus. I have a minor one and it’s permanently an issue. How can you have surgery and win a slam two weeks later. Ridiculous

Interesting that both Federer and Nadal had their great “renaissance” in 2017-the same year Djokovic, who had consistently been kicking both their asses, was out with injuries. It’s also interesting how he started kicking their asses again right when he returned to the tour.

If Nole came into the match injured he had to expect to play three sets to win. If he’s going to bother competing have some class and play three sets, win or lose. If he’s had no expectation of playing three sets he should not have played at all.

I don't see why there's a controversy - in theory someone may fake an injury in order to win (not saying Novak ever would or has) but you don't retire from the semis of a tournament you've won 10 times with a fake injury!

Novak should have defaulted the match the day BEFORE. Thousands of people paid a great deal of money and traveled great distances to be there. It is pathetic to show up for a match and not be ready to play. It is inconsiderate to the fans, and the fans are the only reason you are there. Novak needs to hang it up and go away.

If players went off of this logic think about how many would be pulling out. Sometimes they hold up, sometimes they don't, just as we've seen him and others win with tears before. At the end of the day it's their life, it's their career, they try to go to work injured as many others do. Differences is there in the spotlight and people are pissy because they don't like certain people. If he pulled out people would cry he should have retired during Carlos and still be moaning. So screw the people and try as he did.

I agree with uncle Tony - here is why I am not a Novak fan - GOAT's simply do not act like he does - Can you ever remember Rod Laver, Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal ever obliterate a racket on national television ? Gamesmanship is part of the game of tennis but Ille Nastasi, John McEnroe, Jimmy Connors to name a few before Novak. It all began when Novak went viral and started praising Carlos on social media saying how he is going to break his records and be the best ever ! He was setting him up if he met him in the quarters. It is known that Novak and Zverev are friends of course he would rather let him move on versus Carlos. This will make Carlos stronger as we all get when we are beaten by a player who likes to get in our head. If you play tennis you have come across this type of player. The way Novak defaulted is awful for the fans and I think he should have been booed ! He is an actor and easily could have taken his typical bathroom break, come back out played a few points and called it quits or maybe he pulls back a bit and loses the 2nd set - he pretty much could of done anything other than the way he did it. Defaulting like this and showing the world an x-ray - really. This is like you hurt your knee at the French and you some how heal in 5 weeks and get to the Wimbledon Final - come on people !!! T

Yes, I've seen Federer obliterate a racket many times. You must be a child and a new tennis fan. Nadal has often retired mid match, with a fake injury or long bathroom breaks. Djokovic didn't default, he retired after first set with a real injury. He has shown proof with the xray, something Nadal has never done. Fritz had the same surgery as Novak and he was winning matches 5 weeks later as well. You really are clueless.
