To think Jeff Lynne, the one I knew the least about as a kid, turned out to be my favorite and a musical genius after I discovered ELO.

It will never happen again. So much musical talent singing into one microphone. Starting with George Harrison, then Roy Orbison pops into view, then Bob Dylan and Tom Petty chime in together, can it get any better? Oh yes it can, finally Jeff Lynne appears. And I think Ringo Starr was there out of camera shot. Such stellar talent around one microphone.

Shed a few myself, "Damn the Torpedoes" was a major part of the soundtrack of my youth. It resonated for a young man growing up in the sticks, caught between country and western, rock and new wave. I still bang out "Yer So Bad" on my flat top every now and then and disturb the neighbors with what I refer to as "singing".

Seeing him 15+ times in concert, he had that warmth in everything he did. I still tear up about how they came together and left their egos outside. They honoured Roy. And sadly now we only have 3. Keltner keeps to himself, Jeff has no ego at all and Bob is only a man of words in song. In the late 80s they were considered old rockers and look what they achieved as old rockers! They were brilliant and espoused a new generation of followers. We are lucky that in my generation we were blessed with the music their friendship created.

This time period in music was very special to me. Everyone of these guys were killing it!! Jeff had Armchair Theatre out, Georges had Cloud Nine, Roy had Mystery Girl, Bob had Oh Mercy out and Tom had Full Moon Fever and then they had this Wilbury’s album. Very special time for each of these peoples. They had an unspoken power structure really. If they had been like the rappers and had all formed a label together they would have been billionaires off of their material alone. I was a teenager when this happened and I had all of those tapes at the same time. Thanks for all the beautiful music guys!!

Seriously, many of these talents went under-appreciated. Each had a time in the sun, but when the sun set so did appreciation.

Love the Traveling Wilburys. I have both CDs (Volumes 1 and 3). Jeff Lynne was my favorite Wilbury (Homer Simpson asks Lisa who's her favorite Wilbury is it Jeff Lynne - that cracked me up). I loved Tom Petty's music too. I am sad he passed away. 😢

An All Star band if ever was. Jeff Lynne is a genius and sad that they are not all still around to keep it going. Being a Big Big fan of Tom Petty and this band just goes to prove how great they all were and don't be surprised to see some more great music from Jeff Lynne. This is just another stepping stone for the greats of music that is pure and it will live on forever. RIP Tom Petty, George Harrison and Roy Orbison....

Aah... Jim Keltner, maybe one day, some one will push this man to the limelight which he has managed to deftly avoid for umpteen years... So many stars have used his skills, and yet, he has managed to avoid the spotlights! Well, good luck to you, Jim, and thankyou for your supreme talents at so many events, singles and albums for so many Stars all over the World. Please, someone, nominate him for a specialist award and star on the Walk Of Fame, which he richly deserves. Before it is too late!!

Lots of people say he wasn't a real Wilbury. OK but Buster Sidebury was a close cousin and he was a talented and innovative session drummer (see him playing the fridge in Rattled). Also he was chosen by the Wilburys.

Larry Linn Uhm, You seem to have misunderstand my post, which was a response to a poster who said that "everyone forgets...Jim Keltner." I said, "Not if they're drummers.", as in no, not everyone forgets (how good was) Jim Keltner.
