Great interview. Gave me chills when he said he could feel his friends that went over the rainbow giving them help.

A lot of you people aren't really listening he was never a great speaker ,but listen to what he actually said it's not the ramblings of a drugged out dude he put his life into his music,and had a part in writing the music to all those songs him and Ronnie started the band before anybody else came into it,and he is the last man standing, he must have done something right.

He does sound impaired, but how could he not be? He lost his friends in a terrible accident, and almost lost his own life. This is an interview of a person who just recently lost his entire world from a plane crash. He survived and he is struggling with that.

I heard this interview when it was originally aired (in NY, probably WPLJ or WXPK), at least I think it was this one (Someone wrote that it was from 1980). Waited all week for it. It was the first time I realized my hero was fallible. Living in NY at the time, (Skynyrd was HUGE in NY btw) we never really got to know the band outside of the songs - never even heard the band members' voices. I waited for a glimpse of who the band really was. Cutting my grandmothers hedge with shears I listened on my transistor radio (yup, 1980 seems correct). When he sounded wasted I was so disappointed. "Didn't he realize kids like me were hanging on his every word," I lamented. If he were recovering from a stroke I imagine they would have prefaced the interview with that information or Gary would have excused himself for the slurring. Anyway, the interview smacked into reality one lost 17 year old kid with idol worship.

He might have just been on pain killers that would've only been 3yrs after the crash and Gary had the worst injuries and had to stay in the hospital a few months. He said in one interview that he broke almost all the bones in his body and a punctured some internal stuff
@tball30716 жыл бұрын
@@mikemurphy7787 yes he broke almost every bone in his body and in one interview he said he died and they brought him back quickly and he spoke about that. I'm sure he was in so much pain and their hearts we're broken
