I had my reservations about you Tony in the beginning, but over the years you're content got stronger and better. But now, there is new techniques from around he world. fundamental strengthening techniques that separate the killers and the vics man. I hope you find them real soon. There are men out there that may seem super human, but their not, they were just taught perfectly sound techniques. the only way to cross between mediocre to death blow power. And its those techniques that push what you thought you could do. Then you notice... wow that is the only way to strengthen that part of your body for pure power. godspeed.

I always felt like baseball having a good bat point being the stance the twist and turn very similar to throwing a clean punch .. I always felt like for me the stances being in a similar posture... you just don't have a bat in your hand but your fist is a weapon and you want to land with the same twist of your hips and rotation I always felt like a good baseball player could be a very good counter-puncher think about it standing up to plate and having a ball thrown at you... I totally believe you can become a good counter-puncher with that same killer instinct being poised having a good eye being able to slip and rip ..now listen I understand boxing you want to move and need foot work I'm strictly talking about having a killer counterpunching game

Thanks for sharing some of your knowledge. I come from jiu-jitsu and am a beginner in boxing. After learning the basic techniques, the next thing the instructors taught that they said was of utmost importance was about relaxing the body until the moment the punch hits the target. But I would like to clarify a doubt. At the moment of impact, does only the wrist stiffen or the whole body?

I don't have a heavy bag to try it on but I noticed that If I lower my center of gravity (bending the knees a little more) my hooks, especially the lead one, tend to drag my whole body behind it. Normally I would feel something till the shoulder but when I lower myself that sensation extends to my hips, and it requires me to exhale even more air.

@lukerichardson2404
@lukerichardson2404 2 жыл бұрын
I'm hoping Tony himself replies to this to help you, but in the interim I'll try to help, having done a bit of martial arts but not boxing specifically. Your lead foot is planted, so you shift your weight forward a little bit, but you shouldn't lose balance because of your front leg placement, so check where your weight is when you're in the end position of the cross. Also, the hip coming forward is just rotation, so along with your lead foot being planted, you shouldn't lose your balance, because you pull back your lead shoulder and arm as you punch with your rear arm. Finally, record yourself, or get someone else to record you and check your posture and how your form looks compared to pros, and make adjustments accordingly. You might be leaning your torso too far forward or something
@lukerichardson2404
@lukerichardson2404 2 жыл бұрын
Also, check your rear foot as well. It should pivot and come up onto the toes, and your rear leg should turn forward, which allows your hip to turn as well
@theninthab

@@lukerichardson2404 thank you very much 🙏. I did notice recently, that the 60-40 weight distribution went 80-20 in my case...and my feet were relatively closer(when seen from the front). So watching my leg placement did help a lot👍 Really appreciate the help🙇
