Best thing going on is watching these videos and having a trainer/coach/sensei. I used to watch these vids by myself I couldn’t really apply the lessons, but now I actually have a few months of gym experience this stuff really makes sense. Keep up the good work bro!!! I use both feet positions depending on the situation. It’s like the multiple left hook hand positions based on distancing... I think you made a video about it.

I use to box flat footed, then forced myself to box on toes. It took a while to make my toes strong . But the end result is, I'm glad I learned on toes because you can generate more speed and control the fight. And when u plant your feet at the right time u can throw still as much power.. even if u can fight just having fast feet on your toes can at least tire out your opponent and frustrate him

Can u tell some proper pros and cons between flat footed and on toes?
@-destroyingyouverbally7614
@-destroyingyouverbally7614 2 жыл бұрын
@@pathania3377 the thing is u want to be able to do both. Flat footed more when closer to absorb impact and to get in low and deep power. And for on your toes u can pick up more speed and move faster and are mainly for quick punches and to get in quickly and or away. Only thing with on your toes is u are going to have foot pain for a while and u have to develops a strong balance for this and you have to know when to be in and off them. So it's really a combination of both that is needed flat footed and on toes. Kinda like doing push ups. U do them flat on hand , but to become stronger and develops stronger bones and hands u do them on your fingers. Since the fingers don't have muscles just tendons. This helps straight then hand and forearm so for on toes helps with ankles foot and even rebuilding knees. From foot ball players to sprinters to even ballerinas they all try and get on toes to increase speed and power/force. Because being flat takes longer to produce that burst.. Most people wont get to the level on toes because it takes a long while to do, as well as it becomes a frustrating puzzle, but when you learn it. You'll realize it's a peace u rather need then not have

A classic "boxer" or stylist (also known as an "out-fighter") seeks to maintain distance between himself and his opponent, fighting with faster, longer range punches, most notably the jab, and gradually wearing his opponent down. Due to this reliance on weaker punches, out-fighters tend to win by point decisions rather than by knockout, though some out-fighters have notable knockout records. They are often regarded as the best boxing strategists due to their ability to control the pace of the fight and lead their opponent, methodically wearing him down and exhibiting more skill and finesse than a brawler. Out-fighters need reach, hand speed, reflexes, and footwork. Notable out-fighters include Muhammad Ali, Larry Holmes, Joe Calzaghe, Wilfredo Gómez, Salvador Sánchez, Cecilia Brækhus, Gene Tunney, Ezzard Charles, Willie Pep, Meldrick Taylor, Ricardo "Finito" López, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Roy Jones Jr., Sugar Ray Leonard, Miguel Vázquez, Sergio "Maravilla" Martínez, Vitali Klitschko, Wladimir Klitschko, Ivan Robinson. This style was also used by fictional boxer Apollo Creed. (Source Wikipedia) I thought this was actually quite spot on and I've always found Arturo Gatti v Ivan Robinson I & II an excellent study of a classic boxer v a classic puncher. Timely video Tony, as many guys and gals out there I'm sure get confused between 'feet first' boxing and other approaches and perhaps what they are best suited to given their fitness level, age, etc. I would add that it is always good to know how to push off of one's toes, but that it is probably not sustainable.

Hello sir, I have a question. Where to look in a fight. At the eyes? Or the centre between shoulders?
@kylerodgers7373
@kylerodgers7373 3 жыл бұрын
I personally try to focus on a point around the middle of the chest, I find it easier to keep track of my opponents legs and footwork that way; though it depends heavily on how you fight.
@grahamhill676
@grahamhill676 3 жыл бұрын
General consensus is to look at the middle of chest, between the nipples...basically. You can see the contraction of the pecs when someone goes to throw that way, plus you can still see footwork and any hooks coming around. Looking at the eyes is pretty distracting, and you'll miss a lot.

Thanks for the video. Love the breakdown. I like working on the inside most so I am naturally flat footed in my boxing but have been practicing a bit of on my toes for maneuverability and better defense. I believe, if I am not mistaken, Mike Tyson was more flat footed in his boxing style but had maneuverability with his movements.

That’s a Telegraph. A smart opponent will see that you plant your feet to throw with power, and will pivot/step out of the exchange to safety, whilst baiting you to come in. Lomenchenko did it to a counterpuncher with that habit, opponent couldn’t land nothing but his point getting jab.

You are so correct. Good footwork in boxing or kickboxing is a huge asset. When your opponent keeps missing strikes it takes a lot of physical energy out of them but the mental stress it puts on them can be even more damaging. When you can't touch your opponent it's demoralizing . Thanks again Tony Jefferies 🥊🇺🇲🇬🇧👍
