Hey Tony, in boxing we're constantly thinking in the ring and it becomes a chess match. Can you make videos for your more advance viewers and students? For example, if a fight does X, then you should do Y, while using likely senarios and examples. Perhaps include an additional person in these videos to reenact what to do in certain situations. Just about all of these boxing channels try to teach the fundamentals of boxing but almost none will go into details how to analyze what your opponent is doing and how to counter or defend. I understand much of these comes with experience and sparring but if you can explain some of this the best you can in your videos it would be very helpful. Thank you!

some karate and kung fu systems use that vertical fist too. It must be different fighting with those bulky gloves on. But karateka should learn some of what you know about combinations. I have often seen brown and black belts standing a yard apart and kicking at each other, because they don't know how to close in and use hand combinations. That puts them a real disadvantage in a street fight. it's great to have a side kick that will knock down anyone but a pro boxer or pro MMA fighter, but what if the guy is on top of you before you can land the killer kick?

How can make the screw punch
@johngr17472 жыл бұрын
Dynamic Striking calls this "the Saw Jab"
@bartangel48672 жыл бұрын
Can you do this kind of thing as a southpaw? also my brother says that you should throw your jab simply at 45 degree angle than there is a decent chance that it will go through but don't telegraph my punch. for me making a corkscrew comes more naturally. But i think if I punch normally just make a corkscrew at the very last second instead of at the beginning or the middle of my punch it would be fine and i would not be telegraphing my punch. but the main question that i have is can I do it with my lead arm as a southpaw or would it be a punch that is no more likely to land than a normal jab. i'm pretty sure I can throw it with my rear hand if I'm in good position but like you said its harder to do it from the rear. Me and my brother were experimenting with a cross where you just hold your fist vertically from the beginning and come from bellow almost like an uppercut. for me after throwing a right hook when opponent has to block it which makes him more open in the middle when I go vertically its easier to land that vertical fist because even if the opponent manages to put his hands closer to the middle to protect there is still a better chance that the vertical fist will go through. and if he manages to block it he will be open for another right hook. however the problem i encountered with this punch is that it doesn't have a lot of power. would a corkscrew cross give me same abilities as a vertical fist at the begging but hit with more power? or should I just forget about it?
@joaoii1082 Жыл бұрын
I started trying it out because the first time i started boxing Id just turn my fist cuz it felt much easier somewhat. Only problem is that when i throw screwed jabs, its easier for me to get timed and countered. Im already slow, so imagine when i use screwshots? How do i fix this? Also, are screw shots and corckscrew shots the same or they vary?
