being from the Caribbean like you've stated earlier, you might really enjoy Judgement/Punishment by Jinjer. Reggae music is Tatiana's favorite genre (outside of metal) and it shows in that track. There's a music video and a live one take Vocal of Tatiana in the booth. Either one is amazing.

All of Tati's lyrics are deep...their official videos are cinematic masterpieces, and they are phenomenal live Perrenial (live at Waken)... Who is Gonna Be the One (live).. Judgement and Punishment (Tati's one take)... Sit, Stay, Roll Over is brutal... Just a few to get you into the groove 🔥

You aren’t thinking too deep. Tatiana has said it is about anyone trying to put themselves above others and impose their values. Good call. :) One of their deepest songs is Home Back about their hometown getting caught in the 2014 war in eastern Ukraine, which is even more heartbreaking today. The video is quite well done by video producers in Kyiv. Eugene their bassist and manager, Roman the guitarist, and Vlad the drummer are all in Kyiv last we've heard. Tatiana is in the US with husband Alex Lopez of Suicide Silence. Eugene also posted a video address on the Jinjer Metal Band channel.

It's nice to see a reactor who's able to think and put a train of thought into a coherent speech, instead of just mumble and say "like" or "know what I'm saying" every two words, as if we're supposed to know what they're saying when they're not saying anything. People who follow reaction channels know who I'm talking about. Anyway, you interpreted the lyrics correctly. 🙂

Well, this Ukrainian 4 piece unit is something else. They've got a huge catalogue. Is it progressive, fusion or just freaky metal? I think all three. At this moment the guys of the band are stuck in Kiev surrounded by the Russian army. It's gonna get dangerously rough for them the coming weeks. I hope they survive and will be touring again some day. So Jinjer can use some attention or TLC the coming period. In this case I recommend you my favorite and blistering live performance: 'Who is Gonna Be the One'. You gonna love it.

Story time: I had a earth science teacher in 7th grade teaching us about the elements. When I learned there are many man made elements it blew my mind. My child brain's first thought was, "Can you make gold?" My teacher in his haste to not waist class time on this complicated question said, "No." I went home and told my father about my day, and my father happened to be best friends with one of the wolds leading Material Chemists. That man laughed and from his brain with no reference wrote down how to make 1kg of non radio active gold from lead. He did all the energy conversions to Gallons of Gasoline to make it understandable to a kid. Turns out you just need half the world's weight in lead and like 3 earth's worth of Gasoline with no heat loss and boom, you got gold. My teacher hung that hand written chicken scratch on the wall. Haha it was cool.

Two quick notes: First, it's actually "false cord" with a hard "C". Saying vocal "chords" is a misspelling, and a "chord" is a collection of musical notes. Secondly, if you're looking to work on your screaming, check out the Voice Hacks channel and Mary Z. She's a great screamer herself (and the frontwoman for Helion Prime), and has some really good free lessons. As for recommendations, "Home Back" and "Who's Gonna Be The One" are depressingly relevant. For some non-Jinjer metal, Handshake With Hell from Arch Enemy is a great track, and if you're looking for the all-time queen of false cord screams, check out "Nemesis" or "Ravenous" from Arch Enemy with Angela Gossow -- or "Do or Die" (feat. Angela Gossow) from Amaranth.

and the best thing about this band is that it isn't all about Tatiana (though she does deserve the credit she gets). The rest of the band is uber talented. Eugene (bass player) and Vlad (drummer) are near the tops of their field in their instruments. Vlad only took up the drums from his last band (jazz band) he learned the drums on his own. He is a classically trained Pianist and also plays the guitar as well.

This took my song of the year for 2019. That chilled section, when Tatiana comes back in with one of her most tender vocals, is still one of my favourite things from them. :) p.s. it's vocal *cords* - the "h" only appears when talking about musical terms regarding multiple notes at once.... & just to keep you on your toes, that "h" is silent, so it's still pronounced "kords"! ;)

You're spot on honestly. It's meant to question authority, since not everyone in a position of authority actually deserves to be in that position, has it all figured out themselves, or even your best interest in mind. Speaking of false teachings… It's false cords, like vocal cords, not chords. A chord is something you play on a guitar, when hitting multiple notes.

I think Jinjer songs probably end the way they do to keep them accessible. They have really come in as underdogs, all of them have been at it for years and years as seasoned musicians and performers. But coming up as a metal band in war-torn Ukraine, and being seen beyond there, is a pretty big challenge. It's really only recently that they've broken through to the mainstream and been recognized for their sonic identity and accomplishments as a creative force. They're kind of in their "So you see us now, here's what we do." showcasing phase. It's common for bands in this genre to start off a bit more accessible and then delve more into what they can do with their style across albums, after getting noticed. The more indulgent, 'full form' stuff comes later. And then maybe another refinement stage. There's a give and take, like any other genre. I think Jinjer is one of the best things we've gotten in metal in a long time. For all of the great stuff that's come out, I often still find myself jaded, where a band like Jinjer carries a torch for everything that a good metal band can be. They are representing it better than anyone else out there right now, really standing out from the crowd while also re-evoking the roots of the metal attitude, even with so many other bands taking this or that to astronomical levels. Jinjer has something, as a band, that few bands in metal have right now. It's that whole package deal. But with that said, I think they have a lot more potential still. And I look forward to seeing what they do with these sounds and their license to be something as "Jinjer." If there's a metal band to look to right now, it's them. They still hold onto a lot of modesty, which is understandable when you see what it has taken for them to get to where they are. They are a band with a lot on the table and things to lose. Right now, they are still fighting just to operate as a band.

Instant subscribe from me. I love when watching Jinjer reactions leads me to new youtubers to subscribe to. I really enjoy how you look at the lyrics and take out their deeper meaning. Tatiana writes all of her lyrics in the form of poems in her first language Ukrainian, then translates them to English while working with the band in the studio. To me this makes their meaning so much deeper, and its great to see someone breakdown the lyrics that Tatiana worked so hard on. My personal suggestions to listen to next are Judgement & Punishment and Vortex. Really great pieces lyrically and instrumentally.

Other people mentioned it, but I think you would really enjoy Tatiana's single take vocal performance of Judgment and Punishment - It has an added reggae vibe which is a lot of fun and it's a great song. Also, Home Back. You like to dive into lyrics and meaning if songs, and given recent events this would be worth doing for sure. Note that some of the song structure and beat is purposely meant to be uncomfortable, because it's about their home town being bombed by Russia in 2014 - The band left during this, then moved back to Ukraine afterward because it's their home. Jinjer then wrote this song about wanting to get their Home Back. Not just the physical home, but the liberty and peace needed for something to be your sanctuary... And now a couple years later their home is being invaded and destroyed once again. It's quite a sad situation, but their anger in the song is totally justified.

The song is about the people that are trying to give you an angle in your life with tons of advises, but they can never follow their own advises or step in your shoes, its for the fake friends and mentors that always know so much...Metal music is something great, boy keep listening and read the lyrics, most of the song of most of the bands are very, VERY deep, Tatiana writes very clever for JINJER. And the ENERGY, i was on one of those gigs in the video from Sofia, BG, and it was like train run over you.
