I love how he mentions that with Tool in the studio, you've got 4 extremely talented people that think they know how the world works. The thing is though, that's how Tool ended up making such beautiful music. Every musician wanted to be happy with their product of art, and every musician also wanted to send a specific message or energy through their song. I bet there was a lot of long thought out processes, and a lot of arguing over song composition. But at the end of the day, their music is damn near god like.

Nice to hear Maynard's comments on Joseph Campbell. Always suspected that Undertow is, in part, inspired by J.C., in particular Disgustipated. Campbell was fond of saying that "vegetarians are people who cannot hear a carrot scream." And "life feeds on life." I encountered Undertow and Myths to Live By at the same tender time, and both helped me tremendously.

Best interview I think I've heard in a while, you can hear their friendship, and Maynard clearly enjoys everything he does, or he wouldn't do it, he loves Tool more than he loves you, remember that. I'm excited to see what happens down the last quarter of his career now, big inspiration and wonderful man, too bad everybody is so offended by everything this day and age.

I like that ideal of a band/performance of it being like a film/story as a whole. One of the most exciting things of seeing a band live, or even listening to them is paying attention to all the different parts on their own/studying them and then looking at them as a whole.

If there is one person I would want to read over and critique my poetry it would be Maynard, not because I am seeking attention, money or wanting to sell it or my soul for that matter, but because I really appreciate him as an artist, I can relate with a lot of his own words and views and I value his opinion Maybe one day right, maybe one day sigh.

I respect Maynard so much. I can understand why he hates tool, and unfortunately tool fans. tool is something that he did, not does. At the same time, I hate him for not giving tool fans acknowledgement for giving him the platform of where he is at in life. ALL of us fans just want to know what's up with the new tool album...we admire their music and can relate to Maynards lyrics. tool is a badass band! to me, they are "poetry in motion" backed by rhythmic genius. I still listen to tool everyday! all and all...I will always be a fan of tool and Maynard. to each his own.

Okay, let me completely readdress my passing thoughts from four months ago. Yes, MJK has a surface level understanding of Jungian theory. I'm curious what MJK would make of Carl Jung's more obscure books like the Mysterium Coniunctionis and Psychology and Alchemy. I doubt he would find much value in them. He is a creative/artistic person, and my belief is that the value I find in those books, he finds naturally in himself, in his "inner creative microcosm." I lack a developed inner world so I seek elements in the outside world, but artistic people only need look inside.
