Quarter also means mercy. "Ask no quarter, and none shall be given."
@MrTyler9182734 жыл бұрын
'No quarter' basically means 'take no prisoners'. If you are giving no quarter then you are declaring that your intention is to just kill everyone rather than taking prisoners who you then have to house and feed. In modern times the Hague Convention (which is basically an agreement on what constitutes war crimes) actually states that "it is especially forbidden ... to declare that no quarter will be given".

This isn't live, it's just on an album that has some live tracks.
@edwardmilewskisr.85834 жыл бұрын
It is live. It was recorded as if it were in a studio though. They faded out the crowd noise, recorded the vocals, drums, bass, and guitar separately. Then everything was fine tuned for this album. The equipment used was high tech shit, as opposed to a cell phone. That's why the sound quality is so good. But it was performed live, on stage, in front of thousands of fans. Ever been to a Tool show? This is how they actually sound live. Perfect.

Originally they wrote this song to be in the Howard Stern movie Private Parts. After the cover was written, and recorded, either the band or their record label back out of putting it in the soundtrack. Howard Never got an explanation as to why they backed out at the last minute, and to this day he is mad at the band thinking that they snubbed him. But I am sure there is more to the story. Search KZbin for Howard telling the Tool story, and you can hear him explain it.

@MattMuirhead4 жыл бұрын
This track was originally recorded to be on the soundtrack for Howard Stern's 1997 movie, Private Parts. Ultimately, Tool had to pull out because the band did not have the rights to put the song on a soundtrack - so it ended up on Salival. Howard being Howard, he took it personally and it turned into a fued with the band. Typical Stern.

Here's a live video of this from way back: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6CYpaiHi7xka9k. Not the best quality (early 90's), but enough to capture the epic scream moment. It's INTENSE. Scorpion spine tattoo is real, btw, not so much the fish and chips :P To be honest, I'd love to see you react to this, as it contains so many great "Maynard being Maynard" moments; I'm pretty sure there's a moment when M even cracks up a little at his own antics. It's a terrific performance, either way, with the original bassist, Paul.

Hi, I wanted to ask if you’d be down to react to an album if I paid you for it? If yes, what’s the price?
@SuperJersh4 жыл бұрын
Haha jeez I don’t know a few people have asked about that which is why I put out a poll recently on the community tab, an entire album with my individual song breakdowns would be a pretty big time commitment (relative to a single song I mean), I think if enough people asked for this I would consider adding another patreon tier, for pricing I’d have to consider the time it would take to record, edit, render, upload, make thumbnails and video descriptions, so don’t know quite yet. Let’s say if 50 people or more ask for this I’ll take it seriously and think more specifically. Regardless it’s not going to impact the channel as everyone knows it now haha
@gabrxel964 жыл бұрын
SuperJersh I understand that it’d take plenty of time and effort so that’s why I thought about paying you. You deserve to be rewarded for your work. I really like the analysis you make when reviewing songs/videos which is why I dared to ask you about it. There’s an album that I’ve always wanted to see someone else’s first reaction so I’m willing to pay for your effort, of course if you feel like doing it 😅 So yes, just consider it and if you like the idea, I’ll start preparing my wallet!
@SuperJersh4 жыл бұрын
Gabriel X lmao well thx I appreciate you watching :)
@mkswk094 жыл бұрын
Gabriel X Out of curiosity, do you mean do one long video or broken up into separate tracks? I’m asking because I think album reactions would be a great idea
@gabrxel964 жыл бұрын
Mike S I feel like both ways could work! As long as all the reactions are from the same moment/day to fully digest the experience and vision of an album. But yeah, it could be one long video or could be separate videos for every track, which is a great idea as well and is kind of what he’s doing with Melanie Martinez’s visual album. That could help to make a deeper analysis for each song and you could get more material out of it! So I guess it would depend on personal preferences :)

Before I proceed with this video, I have to believe the ONLY reason this song was requested has to be to prod you to complete the entire TOOL catalog. This song would be one of the last I’d recommend, just before all of the interstitial songs and HWAP. BTW, NOT all of the Salival album is live. BTW, I recommend buying the “album,” if you can because I bought it the day it was released and had no idea Salival was included because it was sold as a DVD of the (pre-Lateralus) music videos, (DVD + CD + small art book-mostly photos from the videos and live performances.) I recommend you listen to the original ASAP, and don’t waste anymore time with it. Then again, I’d love to hear if you can figure out what about the song is different from the original, other than clearly being TOOL. -----------[let’s see what I have to say after watching 😉 ]--------------- Ya know, It must’ve been 10,000 Days, when the rest of the band really showed off what they could do musically that gained them so much of the musician wankery crowd, because when I was in high school and a massive fan of the band I put up with a LOT of Dream Theater/Symphony X/Yngwie Malmsteen douchiness from band geeks and musicians about how much TOOL sucked. Seriously, the art kids, like me, were they only ones that liked TOOL. In the early 2000s, NO ONE was talking about how amazing TOOL was musically. All of a sudden the advent of reaction channels has shown me the wankery obsessed crowd has moved into the TOOL space, and I feel weirder than I imagined I would, ya know? I’m sure it’s not the same people, I am sure if I encountered them again they still wouldn’t be TOOL fans, but it definitely inspires this weird territorialness from when I was a teenager. I have not experienced this feeling from any other band I was into. ------[Anyway, feel like there may have been too much negativity in that comment, here’s some non-TOOL recs featuring non-Maynard James Keenan members of TOOL]------------- “Drumbeaux” or “Grip it” by VOLTO! (Danny Carey side project,) “Pistolero Sleep,” “Drug Run To Fontana,” “Swamp Creature,” or really anything by Pigmy Love Circus, (Danny Carey side project.) “Dawn of The Locusts,” “Caped Crusader,” “Enchanted Thoughtfist,” by Jello Biafra with the Melvins (feat. Adam Jones on guitar.) Songs by ISIS, “Hall Of The Dead” (feat. Adam Jones on Guitar.) & “Wavering Radiant” (feat. Jones on Keyboards.) “Spasm,” “Velvet,” or “Catfood” (cover of a King Crimson song) by Peach (sometimes “Peach gb”,) (Bassist Justin Chancellor’s pre-TOOL band.) “The Fear” & “Disappointed” by Death Grips (feat. Justin Chancellor.)

And it's way better than the album version. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGanf5V_ltWDZ7c I promise you won't be disappointed. The one you did off the album is good I agree but this is way better. Honestly if you didn't check this one out, your only cheating yourself. All I can say. The vocals are so much better. And to tell the truth I don't like hearing the one you just heard. Cuz it just sounds second rate compared to the link I gave you but I'm going to watch this out of respect for you.
