And in my darkest moment, feeble and weeping The moon tells me a secret - a confidant As full and bright as I am This light is not my own and A million light reflections pass over me Its source is bright and endless She resuscitates the hopeless Without her, we are lifeless satellites drifting And as I pull my head out I am without one doubt Don't wanna be down here soothing my narcissism away. I must crucify the ego before it's far too late I pray the light lifts me out Before I pine away Before I pine away Before I pine away (pine away) Before I pine away... So crucify the ego, before it's far too late And leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical, And you will come to find that we are all one mind Capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable. And let the light touch you So that the words spill through And let them pass right through Bringing out our hope and reason... When I did psychedelics, I had a come up that was profoundly exciting, and then I hit it... I've been here before, I've tripped sober. It's like you had amnesia and then suddenly realize that you were an actor on a movie set you thought was real. Also there could be a muddy nauseous swirl of everything coming together and all boundaries between everything smearing into static. All experiences can be inspiring and terrifying alike depending on what you take from it, how you think about it.

@@mattsmith3839 Pink Floyd is one of my all time favorite bands and was my first exposure to progressive rock. My dad used to play the album meddle all the time when i was 5 or 6 years old because our Dog at the time went nuts over the songs Seamus and parts of Echoes. Set the controls is such a great song but my absolute favorite version is the live at Pompii version, it just really takes me to another place and it takes the song to a whole nother level. The tribal drumming is so meditative and i find that i enter into a deep dream like state with it and sometimes can visualize light tunnels and strange landscapes in my mind during the peak. Pink Floyd had an obvious effect on TOOL's music but few people seem to recognize it. @iccabobb wtf man i just cant understand everything you are saying. Another blast of reflection, some carl jung thoughts would connect you with maynards lyrics in an unexplainable way. Crucify is a fucking deep symbol, sad i cant say what i want to say. Dont get angry because it can resamble gzuz (another symbol).

iccabobb When he says crucify, I believe he’s trying to say that killing his ego will somehow save the rest of himself, like how Christians believe that Jesus died so that everyone’s sins could be forgiven.

I bought Undertow when it first came out, loved it but then didn't bother with TOOL for a long time - I'm really into Classical Music, Indian Classical, Native American, European Folk Metal/Viking Metal, etc. I heard Schism on the radio and bought Lateralus but really only to hear Schism......What an idiot I was. I F***KING love this piece so much. I wish they would have done a live video of this and not just the audio. I've since obtained CD's of Fear Inoculum, 10,000 Days and Aenima. Definitely need to do some serious catching up. I stopped listening to the radio after the inundation of rap-crap, hiphop shit and silly pop music and am completely played out and bored with "classic" rock _ if I have to hear Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen, Hotel California, and a few other classic rock staples I'll rip my ears off!!!

very possibly the greatest piece of art ever channeled into this reality.

Dear fellow Tools why are we so disconnected with each other? We are of the same mind.

1. There are no underrated tool songs all tool songs are masterpieces therefore everything else is rated as inferior as tool is the Mark at which all music and musical ability is measured.

Exactly, they are all equal in level and share the same range in spiritual energy brought of from one individual soul literally there is no differentiating one over another in hierarchy and in a optimal order…

I have come curiously close to the end, down Beneath my self-indulgent pitiful hole Defeated, I concede and Move closer I may find comfort here I may find peace within the emptiness How pitiful It's calling me It's calling me It's calling me It's calling me And in my darkest moment, fetal and weeping The moon tells me a secret, my confidant As full and bright as I am This light is not my own and A million light reflections pass over me Its source is bright and endless She resuscitates the hopeless Without her, we are lifeless satellites drifting And as I pull my head out I am without one doubt Don't want to be down here soothing my narcissism I must crucify the ego before it's far too late I pray the light lifts me out Before I pine away Before I pine away Before I pine away Before I pine away So crucify the ego, before it's far too late To leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical And you will come to find that we are all one mind Capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable Just let the light touch you And let the words spill through And let them pass right through Bringing out our hope and reason Before we pine away (pine away) Before we pine away (pine away) Before we pine away (pine away) Before we pine away Source: LyricFind Songwriters: Adam Jones / Daniel Carey / Justin Gunner Chancellor / Maynard James Keenan
