Thank you for this! I got this home saw the large book of complicated instructions tossed it aside and found this video. I just finished 22 corner pieces for my new base molding. If I hadn't found your video I would still be reading the instructions and my saw would still be in the box. Can't wait until tomorrow to install all of the moulding and move on to my laminate floors. I needed the box unpacking part too that made me feel like I hadn't missed anything. Thanks again!

Just bought the TSS702 to replace a heavy Ridgid 10" slider, have used several Mitre saws in past wanted something smaller--so far works great, 7 1/4" blades are cheaper too-if your cutting wide or long pieces, secure the saw to a bench or portable work table or Mitre stand bcus it's so light it can be top heavy while cutting, otherwise perfect for laminate flooring with a good blade and general trim, mouldings, etc. Best thing is it's Lightweight cuts 2x10" which if u cut wider then that you'll have to use a 10" saw

The LED light is meant to replace the Laser light, if you notice when you go down to cut the LED light creates a shadow to the saw on the wood, that shadow is the exact place and width of the saw. Makes cutting to your line exact

Thanks for the review. One thing I wish you had checked was to see how accurate it was at different angle stops and bevels. That's what really makes or breaks a miter saw - accuracy. Being off a couple degrees when doing moldings makes for a really shitty looking job.

Hey man. Thought I would chime in as I had recently went through the same purchase decision as you. In my case I bought the Kobalt and within a week brought it back and got the Ryobi. The Kobalt miter feels very cheap in comparison and the stops are not accurate at all. So far none of those issue with the Ryobi. Hope that helps.

Saw shopper here. Nice little saw but the dust collection throat doesn't ride up and down with the blade like other saws I've been looking at. I don't see how that can be a very good design. At 5:28 you mentioned checking out the dust system but I must have missed it somehow. To be fair, I've never seen a bag system work very well on any saw. Will this saw collect sawdust ok even with a shop vac hooked to it? Thanks for the review btw :-)

4x4s are usually 3.5 inches in reality. I would say that it will cut close, but you may just have to cut it a side at a time to successfully cut it. I would step up to a 10 inch to really get a for sure cut straight across through one cut.

I just tried to use it, and the button you use to make the saw turn would not push all the way down. It kinda felt like maybe a safety switch was on or something. I never found a safety switch though. Any tips? The guard has been removed. Would that cause the saw not to work?
@ToolReviewZone
@ToolReviewZone 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Sara, I have not used the older models, but the guard would not have anything to do with it. Usually they have a safety switch on the handle somewhere that you need to push or slide for the saw to operate. @@UC-73P87iZAfZ05it7mjgbLg You mentioned the Skil saw not being calibrated out of the box which reminded me of an ordeal I went through. I'm still mad at myself for not returning a Ryobi 7-1/4" 18V miter saw. When I got it, it was completely, and I mean *_completely_* out of whack. That saw must have been made the day after one of those drunken, two week long Chinese holidays. I could get past the miter and bevel being sim-aligned, but it was much, *_much_* worst than that. For starters, even when adjusted, the miter was so far off that I had to file the plastic pointer to get it to set at zero. Even that was still not enough to get a true 90 degree cut, I actually had to re-machining the fence to get it right! The bevel decal was slapped on at such a cock-eyed angle that the pointer wasn't anywhere near it. Also I had to recalibrate the laser because no amount of turning the set screw would correct it. To make things worse, the detents are not correct, I have to use a protractor to get an accurate miter cut. That saw was was a total abortion right out of the factory. I guess Ryobi doens't have a Q.C. department. Out of the half dozen miter saws I own, guess which one is my least favorite?

Anyone else notice this when running this saw? If not for that, I'd say this saw is a great addition to my shop, but I'm not sure that's a good mix with some sawdust in the air.

I recently bought this saw. I was very happy with it until I tried to use the clamp on the right side. The motor is on the side of the saw so it will not slide all the way back if I am using the clamp on the right. Very disappointing. I want to cut several pieces of wood without measuring each one so I tried to create stopper on the right with a block of wood and the clamp and it does not cut through.
@rypaz87
@rypaz87 4 жыл бұрын
I was annoyed by that as well, but I've gotten around it by ditching the stock clamp and just using trigger clamps to secure the wood to the fence. It's silly that they would put that port on that side when there is obviously no clearance most of the time, but you can still make it work!
@SCWD_US

A huge issues is when holding the piece from the right side you can't make a complete cut because of the motor. You are forced to use the clamp.
