I'm going to say something that these folks and auto companies don't want to say. These are all FIRST GENERATION EV'S from auto companies that have never dealt with the infrastructure, management and reliability of an electric vehicle. It's not easy to go from gas production to electric without having some serious challenges or taking shortcuts to capture a market. Also range anxiety will be real for them without a supercharger network and that's a hard fact! Don't get me started on what happens in the winter, those ranges are going to drop on top of the 1st year battery degradation which you lose range forever, between 5-7% but these are first generation, so who knows!Lease and buy at your own risk!! If you are in the market for an electric vehicle then a Tesla is just a much better option. You get a solid electric vehicle with an amazing audio system, built like a damn tank but ridiculously fast lol, add all the cool features those vehicles have, like driving itself, games, video streamings and all the updates it gets, that keeps itself fresh through out the years. Add the supercharger network that can get you anywhere you want, without having range anxiety, it has proven to be very reliable vehicle and ecosystem. Also in case you don't know but Tesla is the #1 Model S, #2 Model Y ,#3 Model 3 are the most safest vehicles in the entire world and getting better with each update according to 3rd party testers! Choose wisely because there are better options, personally I don't want to be a guinea pig but I'm happy we are transitioning to a more sustainable environment!! Peace!

Audi nailed the homework. BMW came to their (design) senses. VW should make an e-Sharan (or a more aerodynamic ID.Buzz.Aero). Fisker and Chevy (the cheapest) make most financial sense as a commuting car, at least from this list. Aptera: interesting concept to be further developed. Actually it could also function (optionally) as an electric tricycle :). Efficient is great, and ideal, for people whose top priority is reducing carbon emissions. For the other 98% of the populace, we need cars that appeal to them in order to move the EV trend forward. As the technology continues to improve, even these full size sedans and SUVs will be efficient enough (in fact, they are already greener than comparable ICE cars).

@@andiman45 Your 2 posts seem vaguely contradictory. In the first, which I replied to, you seem to demand an efficient people mover. In the second, you seem to deride the Prius? Maybe I'm misinterpreting. Maybe your point is that people will drive them regardless of the other things that factor into what people decide to buy cars for? I assure you, for a majority of buyers, they won't. People want style, people want comfort, people want performance, and people are, and always have been, willing to sacrifice some efficiency for it. Sure, there will 100% be a market for cheaper, less flashy, more efficient models; but that's mostly because that's all a lot of people can afford. And as I pointed out in other comments, these companies are trying to recoup some of the enormous R&D investments they are making on EVs, which you don't do on a low margin car. So for now, we'll get mostly high end offerings. That will change over time.

"Imagine an electric that's actually efficient!" Not sure why you said that, because any modern EV is extremely energy efficient compared to any other vehicle--even diesels. Barely made it to the charger at midnight and was so relieved to find it available. I walked 20 minutes home. At 5 am, walked 20 minutes to get the car and someone unplugged it to charge their car. Thankful it was back at 1/4 charge - enough to get back to MCO at 6 am and switch to a gas car so we could get back to vacation. Drove without A/C to preserve range. My sister (actively researching electric cars and was having a charging station installed at home) was horrified. We went from can't wait to try it to can't wait to get rid of it in 12 hours. Correct. Companies in the near term need cars that can help them recover the outrageous R&D costs involved in making a car unlike anything they've ever made and racing to improve the tech to be more and more competitive with ICE for range, convenience and affordability. But as tech improves and costs come down, cheap models will become available. It'll progress much like flat screen TVs.

Now reduce prices 5k and give me one without a freaking movie theater on the dash. I like to look at the road when I drive and don’t see why I have to spend so much money on something that has no use whatsoever to me…

The Aptera should be sub $20k asking price for basic vehicle, asking for $26k is a bit rich in my opinion.

@@yoreltrust4059 To be fair, I personally would not class it as a family car, more for an individual or couple. The 3 wheel set-up has many virtues for stability and rigidness.

This company has only succeeded in introducing only electronic elements as well as other vehicles on the market. My question is when this company and other vehicle construction companies will create new mechanical technologies different from the ones that exist today.
