I just bought my first T yesterday, an Avicularia avicularia. They are between 1-1.5in right now, so I'm assuming they are a juvie. Such a cutie, and I cannot wait for them to grow and let me know what their sex is lmao Their current hobby is testing all the hidey holes in their wooden centerpiece. I'm excited to see them web up the place when they are fully confident and feeling safe. Big thanks to you and the T community on KZbin for shedding light on this hobby and helping beginners like me join the club. You and Dark Den in particular are very informative and reassuring for those who want to participate in tarantula keeping for the first time, and I think I have a spoiled little spider in the making ♡

Hi, I'm from the UK. 🇬🇧😊😁. Loved this. Thank you. I'm new to this hobbist. My very first Tarantula I brought was a Gammostola Rosea. I brought her from a neighbour for £20.00. Not sure how long my neighbour had her, but I've had her for at least 3 - 3 & a half years. Since then, I've now acquired 5, more T's all Terrestrial. This was really lovely to watch your recommendations for different T's for beginners that were not the usual suggestions. I've always wanted to get an arboreal to add to my collection, and also dwaft T's but didn't know what T's to get? So glad Richard, that you made this video and included a variety of Tarantulas that I've not or even never considered. Great video, Loved it! Much appreciated. Anyhow, your list contains so many of my want-to-have spiders! Name davus pentaloris (getting one soon), ybyrapora diversipes (freakin' expensive) or aphonopelma calcodes (may be an everyday-seen in the US, but hard to come by here in Europe).... Unfortunately, being a male, we didn't have him as long as we would have liked but I don't regret it, he was a sweetheart and this was the beginning of my T fascination. Just purchased my very first Tarantula Avicularia Avicularia. I've been absolutely terrified of spyders my entire life but have always thought Tarantulas were interesting and somewhat beautiful. Last year I came across a Black Widow at work and kept it as a pet for almost 9 months til the end of it's life cycle. I was suprised when I came across my Avicularia Avicularia at Petsmart for $20 dollars. The Tarantulas I've seen in petstores over the years have always been kind of expensive in my humble inexperienced opinion. So I thought I would give this one a try. I purchased a tall Zoo Med "Creatures" habitat but have realized that it doesn't have cross vents for cross ventilation. I do have two air purifiers in my room and have been running the ceiling fan until I can purchased a better option. It is eating very well and seems to be active at night. Wish me luck. I'm very happy with my purchase so far.

This video is awesome. Not knowing where to start with getting into these animals. Thanks for the recommendations.

Great selection, Richard! Love it! By the way, my very first tarantula was a Ybyrapora diversipes...

I just picked up my first tarantulas ever, and I was insanely lucky to find them for sale here in the Netherlands. I got a Grammostola Pulchra sling (2.5 cm legspan), and a Caribena Versicolor sling (5 cm legspan), and my goodness are they cute. Couldn't be happier. :D

My first tarantulas were a juvenile Tliltocatl Albopilosus Nicaragua and a sling. That was January 2022 and now I have 12 and still going lol. I have the two Curly hair's, C. Cyaneus, C. Argentinense, L. Parahybana, three Avic's, C. Versicolor, H. sp. Colombia, and two T. Rasti's. Going to buy more though :) I love them all with the bottom of my heart.

My six tarantulas, in order of first to most recent: 1) T albo 2) G pulchra 3) A chalcodes 4) G pulchripes 5) A steindachneri 6) E campestratus I would recommend 1, 3, and 6 as the most beginner-y, my grammostolas are quite bolty, but they are slings. The curly and steindachneri are adults and always out on display

You have a very cool channel! All about the Ts and skip the BS. C Veriscolor was my first T. Such a treat raising it
