I like the Frenzy Barb a lot due to the relative limit of physical immunes and just the clearing speed. I think it should have at least gotten an honorable mention.

To everyone complaining these builds "require" high-end runewords, that is simply not the case. Most of these can function without the Enigmas and Infinities. Infinity only serves to broaden the range of what you can farm, while Enigma is really just QoL. You can even utilize the "poor man's version" of these such as Lower Resist wands and Teleport staves if you really need to. Not to mention these issues were greatly remedied by the inclusion of new Lv85 areas, so most of these builds will have some place they can farm effectively before they finally get their Enigmas and Infinities. If you were somehow expecting some cracked, no-gear build to be ripping it the top 10 alongside decked-out Light Sorcs and Hammerdins, this is simply not the game for you.

Ive been playing D2R for quite a while on single player, and i farm areas (at a moderate pace) on players 8 with a hybrid poison/lightning javazon + chest for CE charges, and Im nowhere near high runewords. I have never seen a BER or JAH drop, and hardly ever see UM drop. Ive had quite a lot of interesting unique items drop, and its hard to push xp above 90...im a bit over half way to 92...i estimate I might be leveling to 99 for at least a few more months! I work full time, have a young son, like watching vids, etc. So, I agree with you that these things arent needed. Ive beaten Baal on hell set to players 2. I have recently defeated hell Diablo set to players 5. Essentially I have titans revenge, spirit shield, naj's chest, and seraphs amulet...and the rest is just whatever i could find. No javazon skill charms yet. This is my 2nd toon, the first was summon necro I got to 89, but honestly I found him too boring and lost interest in favor of the Javazon.

Fire Druid skills now also does physical damage, so you don’t need that crazy items to deal with fire immures.

Poison Nova - Conviction does not lower Poison Immunity, the only place where Conviction is going to help will be for the fire portion of CE. IMO there are better sticks for your merc to use it may even be interesting to try out a Rouge with Insight or a Barb.

I’ve been using the barb and have no issues with bosses. I can clear any content in the game. Still no enigma so I’m using a 49 bramble and do just fine with my tele staff.

No mention of Fireball/Orb? It kills all bosses, all content, can do rushes fast for hellforge and first time drops, no immunes to worry about, only weakness is players 8 its a bit slow. Does well on HC too.

I mean these are definitely the best builds but only because they have EXPENSIVE gear and rune words. I always find it annoying they KZbinrs showcase fully decked out builds but fail to show off reasonably obtainable builds for people that don't have 100's of hours per month to play the game. Love ya Rhykker but can you also do a TOP 10 LADDER RESET BUILDS video? Alot of us commoners would appreciate it. Lol. Great video though. I have my eyes on a FOH Pally for reset. 😎

The only ones that wouldn't work with bad gear are the smiter (Needs crushing blow etc) and MF barb (budget would still work just wouldn't be as fast). Some like the lightning sorc will struggle against immunes before getting infinity. Sorc will always be the best with crap gear because of teleport. Any other char using ranged magic skills like traps will be fine.

Hey great video! While I completely agree the placement of the Foh Pali, I would like to add that it really only struggles with ancients in hell, it has amazing boss killing potential with the foh synergy holy bolt. It does not struggle at all killing bosses even up to players 5, as all act bosses are demons, and holy bolt when you max out foh and holy bolt, it does 2k-3k damage per bolt with +0 to skill that can go upwards of 8k-9k when fully geared. While it is an amazing build, mid/late game I agree that it is inferior to the hdin on high player count. Edit: grammar

imo Hydra Sorc will be the best starter build for ladder. It is absolutely not dependent on gear in any stage of the game. Even with absolutely nothing, you can just buy some resistence boots/belt/gloves at Charsi and farm nightmare countess to get Lore, 2xSpirit and Stealth (for fc-breakpoint) or Smoke (for 50 all res). Put an insight on a holy freeze merc and off you go farming Durance of Hate 3. The Council will drop nice runes, jewels and charms and Mephisto will drop every piece of further equipment you need. Shako, oculus, Vipermagi, Arach, Soj, Nagel or Ravenfrost, Maras, War Travelers, Goldwrap and Chanceguards will all drop at Mephisto and that is basically your full farming gear already. He also drops every part of the Tal Rasha set pretty frequently except for Armor and Amulet (he can drop the Amu, but boy is it rare), so if you find belt, mask, lidless eye, that also gives you 80 mf ,-15 enemy fire-res and a good chunk of mana, if you have nothing better by that point. Best part is mephisto will drop Eschutas (might take a while to get a 3/20fire, though), but not Deaths Fathom, so a Fire-sorc is always faster equiped than a cold-sorc. On top of that he will drop Vamp Gaze, Duriels shell and bonehew or Reapers Toll for the merc, who you will be supporting with Enchant, so he will survive basically anything with the Life-leech and added Attack-rating. If you have maybe 100% Magic find you should get an upgrade to your gear at least every 10 runs at the start and each run takes maybe 2 or 3 minutes. The only upgrades you can go for after that is basically full Tal Rasha or with high-end runewords like Hoto, CoH, Cta and Infinity/Fortitude on the merc.

@@forestcityfishing4749 the blood-lords in durance of hate 3 are cold-immune and the council is light-immune. You need a fire-build to clear the entire durance. I think this is the most efficient farming area, because mephisto himself drops most good items and when you're down there anyway killing 3 more superuniques and a superchest gives you a lot of great additional drops. Hydra is the safest fire-build, because you can cast your hydras and then just tele away, and since 2.4 it is also the most damaging fire build for boss-killing as well as area-damage.

Rhykker........there's one build that also deserves at least an honorable mention if not one of the top 10 spots. With the buffs to Holy Bolt with 2.4 there's a build that GingerGamingMentor has pretty much coined as the God Zealer. Using the Principle runeword armor for 100% HB procs on striking it is a very versatile build that can be worked into any paladin build.

A bit sad I don't see the Fury Druid. Whilst I admit it's nowhere near as tanky as a Zealer, the buff allowing the werewolf to actually gain attack speed off it's passive rather than solely be based on the weapon in hand is insane. I'm up to Act 5 Nighmare solo'd the whole way he's an absolute beast. Can't wait to see how he'll perform when I put together some Crushing Blow

I know i sacrifice the pure damage on the lightning javazon by not just maxing out synergies. However, i can handle everything, with a couple of rare exceptions, by going into poison. Eg the gloams are a pain, but fortunately they are basically not worth farming anyway! And using Corpsemourn for corpse explosion charges speeds things up quite a bit.

Light sorces can do 40k+ dmg, but you gotta remember light has a very low minimum dmg so sometimes you might not hit very well.

You dont have your Nova sorc set up right. Run the infinity on the sorc and a 17m Insight on the merc. You can still reach the 105FCR by dropping an SOJ or a nice ammy. The -55LR on the character makes it shred monsters while your merc keeps you topped off on mana. Run prayer on the merc and sandstorm makes you are basically immune to elemental damage. This is my favorite build I have ever played. In players 8 terror zones I just jump into a pile and hit them with 1 static then nova them 2-3 times and everything dies. Also I get to run around with an eth scythe and confuse people. I had a guy give me a perfect eschuta last night thinking I needed it.

the FoH paladin is great against bosses too, its not on the same level as a hammerdin but its far superior to many other builds. you just use holy bolt exclusively against bosses and since it doesnt have a cooldown with FCR you deal pretty decent dmg.

My personal and usual picks are Frozen Orb/Fireball Sorc (respec to Blizzard for Mef runs), then make Smite Paladin for Uber farm, and then make a Javazon for Cow runs. Maybe I'll skip Javazon this time, I really want to make Hamerdin with Enigma this time (previously I haven't been able to get this item and other expensive items for the build). Hope I wouldn't get bored 3 weeks into the season for this =)

Unless they fixed it with the new patch, I think the best starter build and one of the best builds in every regard is Frozen Orb / Firewall sorc. The only issue is when you run into Cold AND Fire immunes, but everything else melts.

My past favorite build has always been ww polearm barb (used to be ebotd great poleaxe, but now I'm sure ebotd war pike is better.) One reason is that polearms have a reach of 5 instead of the usual 3, like on swords/axes. Pride on a might merc (or might+reapers) and fortitude with a titan build (all str) worked well for me for damage, as survivability isn't a huge issue with shouts. I'd have to experiment with one again, but that was the most FUN build I've ever played (other than maybe poison necro with skeletons). There are a lot of viable builds, and powerful isn't always the most important at end game imo.

Back in the days i always had a Paladin with Frost. The only HC Classic Char that i get to lvl 99. It took ages to get him there 😂. Second was Javazon and thrid was my FoH Pala that sucks so bad, but i loved the Animation and Style. Love to see that he is strong now. Maybe i will give it a try. But D2 is so time consuming for an adult with kids 😅

Problem with D2 is that these builds shine with optimal gear, which can be pretty hard to get… Furthermore, some builds are such a pain in the butt getting thru hell cuz of the damn immunities. Blizz made great improvements with the balancing of 2.4, but way more work to do… Sad that trying to level a bowazon is almost impossible with average good gear compare to other builds…

Well, that's actually what is great about d2, every class can clear the game but the gg endgame builds really require a lot of effort to build into. It really depends on your perspective and how much time you want to sink into it.

The hype for me died awhile back and I have very little faith that blizzard has much left to bring to gaming. All I see these days is them trying to milk what's left of people's nostalgia. I mean they hired Holly Longdale after all who's whole claim to fame is milking what was left over Everquest.

Ive always ran hammerdins as my main, but they can be hard to get to the point you can run effectively. I normally run holy fire all through normal until i can get to nm and get a 40s polearm for insight so i dont have to worry about mana. Then just getting the end game gear for one can take ages. Since i dont jsp or buy items, but once i do get equipped i do free rushes for everyone.

Admittedly the Javazon definitely deserves to be there. Once fully geared, it simply cannot be stopped, it's fast, it's tanky af (Dodge chance) and it's damage is ranged that swarms the screen. However... I'll stick to my Auradin 😏

Yeah Nova Sorc with Infinity Scythe is pretty OP, Id say better than just a basic Light Sorc but thats me. Its so much faster.

I've never felt much drive to play the paladin, partly because of the utter dominance of the Hammerdin (not a fan of the skill, not sure why). But I'm totally going with a Fohdin this ladder (my first D2 ladder ever, at that). I find Fist of the Heavens such a cooler skill to use compared to all the other ones he has, and having a dependable source of damage even before high-end gear is an absolute plus. This and the Summoner druid were probably my favorite phoenix-from-the-ashes builds that 2.4 offered.

I main hammerdins. I run holy fire all through normal, until I can get a insight for my merc. So I don't have to worry about mana, but hammers are still tough to play if you don't know how to.

Hey man I'm surprised no one really talks about the bladesin I've brought one to average clear speed prior to 2.4 and it was unkillable (fade is crazy) and now I tested with meh gear my build on 2.4 and it rips through boss at hell without good gear nor Merc boost - there is actually no content I cannot tackle with it.

Nice rundown! I think the Singer Barb should be mentioned as well. Why? Find potion now synergises find magic item giving you 74% before you add any MF items. Granted it's a slow boss killer but for large packs it's insane. So The Pit, Trav, Chaos Sanctuary are all still cake for the Singer but also add to that lots of pretty drops... As long as you're not with a corpse explosion necro or Trapsin lol.

It is way worse than Teleport. The animation itself is slow, albeit there is no CD anymore. Also you need monsters/vision to do it... I would love to play MA sin, but I'll probably just stick with the Death Sentry.

It's pretty awful that every single build in the top 10 us has an enigma. They need to give every character a movment skill or get rid of that runeword completely.

@@conradbr11 they haven't really improved the game outside of graphics and stash imo. I play project d2 instead. Old graphics but bigger inventory and more balance between the characters
