Kishimoto is extremely good at creating “character statement” panels that introduce a character and highlight them in such a dynamic way. When Tobi summons the nine tails and Kurama looms over the landscape with the moon in the air, Itachi sitting under the moon like a bird of prey, Sasuke making Jugo and Suigetsu shit themselves is such a good example of his excellent anatomical positioning, the sheer scope of Sasori’s 100 puppet army, Pain floating over the leaf village which visually parallels Naruto and Sasuke returning to the hidden leaf. Even in part 1 with Zabuza’s demon aura and Naruto’s Kurama manifesting for the first time, the 3 way deadlock, Naruto and Sasuke clashing at VOTE2 I could go on forever.

Land of waves and Forest of death/chunin exams has my favorite panels and art, i feel like there’s a very specific era of kishimoto’s art here. It almost feels like a product of it’s time that never fully returns to the series
