I'm glad you covered monkeys and their blind being bugged, but what you didn't cover was the Hunters in arena coming in with 4-5 monkeys, using the blind-stun, abandoning pet mid-fight and summoning another monkey to do it all over again, it was chaos lol.

I fondly remember the hunter in wrath who camped the horde flightpath in Booty Bay with a rhino. As soon as someone landed, they'd get punted onto the docks to their death. Evil, and truly hilarious

I can't remember if it was Monkeys, Crabs, or Spiders, but I remember them being so broken in Cataclysm PVP lol. You could have multiple pets and they all had their own individual cd, so you could root with spider/blind with monkey/I think stun with crab and then quickly switch out your pets for another and do it again. I remember people having like 5 monkeys in rated arenas, it was a crazy time to be alive.

was the monkey* ppl even had a macro for instant pet swap. it used to abandoned pet instantly instead of the 2 sec dismiss. ofc u would have to tame a new pets every time after the arena but with cata change that made ur newly tamed pet is same as ur level u didnt need to level the last 5 levels as wotlk forced u to do.

I don't recall how it was in Cata, but in Wrath, Chimera Shot when used on a target afflicted with Scorpid Sting was also a 10sec disarm, which was great against double DPS comps in arena since a Hunter could disarm both simultaneously, then one of them for another few seconds as well.

Chimera has cool down so you couldn't disarm both at the same time

@@karolworkowski3261 Yeah, I worded that poorly it seems. You could use Chimera on one, then have the pet disarm the other, having both disarmed at once until the pet one wore off.

chimera shot used to attack a 2nd nearby target as well. so in theory it can be done if both targets had scorpid sting. starting in cata the scorpion pet insted of the dot it used to have , it got the new ability with disarm. also in cata there this marcro to instantly abandoned pet. for even faster pet swap than dismess pet. but between arena pvp players used to to tame new pet instantly for the next match. since also in cata when u tame pet it levels to ur current level instantly instead of 5 less levels like in wotlk .

I like how much depth they tried to give the hunter pets with its unique talent tree aspects or abilities. It really opened up the hunter toolkit to get an ability that they found useful for damage or utility.

@@kariminytIf i remember correctly the pet cast bar stayed a few seconds after the pet died. So if you were fast enough, you could immediately rezz your pet.

@@aureliodeprimus8018 ya i guess. i always had it on my 1 button pet macro which heal it. if its dead cast phenix. also if dead cast revive (this was nice in cause u changed to other pets without the phenix ability) and if clicked with shift it dismiss the pet.

iirc the quillen b-rez was added in MoP, so it was the only one hunter had for a little while. Kind of makes more sense if that powerful of an ability (which funnily enough I never saw anybody use besides myself) was only attached to one specific family to reduce its influence. Weird that they threw it onto a couple more families.

Hunter pets used to be very fun to use, every family used to have something that made them special, now it’s all cunning, ferocity, and tenacity with only a few basic abilities. The downside is we couldn’t switch specs meaning most pet looks were forgotten and useless. The only hunter pet family right now with an ability unique to that family is lesser dragonkin, but the ability only reduces magic damage taken which is not that gr8. I hope they’ll add hunter pet spec switching again

a wasp sting used to dot. very useful on rogues. the quillen rez saved more than a few dungeon groups. rez the healer, use pet to tank while healer rez' the real tank. I did that occasionally to great effect.

The Wasp sting also used to prevent stealth while the sting debuff was present. It worked wonders on Rogues and Druids in PVP.

In ToC during wrath, the bird pets were quite useful, since if you disarmed Gormok before he put his bleed up, it wouldn't apply. Pretty well nullified the mechanic

I miss the Wasp ability that stung a target and made them unable to stealth. I guarded SO many flags from Rogues and Druids in WSG in TBC that I was a force to be reckoned with. Night Elf stationary stealth, pet in the corner, Horde unstealths and grabs a flag, BOOM, wasp on the guy, kick the crap out of him, can't Vanish. Down he goes. I miss that one.

I miss the original version of Serenity Dust for moths, it gave a attack power buff while also healing over time which made it overpowered imo during wrath. I wish it stayed the same instead of changing to because blizzard hates uniqueness in the game and only want uniformity.

I miss when Hunter pets were all unique in some way besides model, nowadays all pets fall into the same 3 category’s which makes them pretty pointless cuz you can just get one of each type and never need to tame another pet again.

I remember when your pet would get a damage buff if you fed it enough, a smiley face would appear over its nameplate. :) Also, I remember Shale spiders had a special buff when they first came out in Cata. It had a 5% attack power/agility 'buff' as well. OH oh, also, spirit beasts monfire abilily from wrath!! How could you forget that one Hiru!! XD

There used to be a passive ability Northrend Frost Worms used to have that gave something like a 5% boost to all ability scores. I don't recall the exact boost and it would have been only OK if it only effected the hunter, but it gave it to your entire party.

I was playing wow and that Dio rhino Triceratops was attacking the healer. I thought hmm big brain time. I am going to nuke that dino out of existence with my death knight abilities but then he casts reflect and I nuked myself out of existence.

That's why I stopped playing WoW after MoP. They removed resilience and all of the Hunter's pet controls like disarm, silence, stun, and the monkey's blind. They might as well make Hunter a profession like fishing rather than keeping it as a playable class, considering how they keep nerfing it. On the other hand, they continue to allow the Warlock's succubus to use seduction and the Mage's elemental pets to freeze.

Blink Strikes was so useful to combat bad pet AI, sad to see it removed. Fighting Sire Denathrius in Castle Nathria effectively turned Beast Mastery Hunters into a melee spec since their pets couldn't attack the adds on other platforms.

Spirit strike for spirit beast was like moon fire. And Hellhoot’s flame strike which did a mage flame strike but also burned them for more dmg if they stood in the aoe.

Phoenix heart could be placed on the pets action bar. Meaning you didn't have to open the book to cast it. Just cast it manually from the pets action bar. I removed growl from my pets list as I always had that off and just had the revive there.

Eternal Guardian was actually added in Mists of Pandaria, and Ancient Hysteria was in the game since Cataclysm. They simply expanded the abilities to other pets in WoD, not as a way to negate buffs, but just as another victim of WoD's destruction of uniqueness and identity.

Hunters were the hardest class in vanilla and to this day are one of the hardest to play right and maximize their dps.

the lick you wound was sort of good in solo game play if your not great geared and a mob is proven to be a bit over your level or you know another mod agrood before you was ready. because you could aggro the mob order the pet to heal up to 100% and then take the aggro back. the channel ability the hunter have more or less requires both the pet and you to not be in combat and stationary. this allows one of you to still fight while the other one keep fighting.

Here you are, running around, doing your thing, and some green winged jackass pulls out a .45 and shoots you like three or four times and you’re dead. I once ran into a premade in WSG that was all hunters with the angry green lighting pukers. Theyed just pick a target and the gang of green gunslingers would mow them down in the street. One after another. It was a slaughter. I’ll be honest, I stayed in stealth and just cried as they camped our team at GY. I still hear the “sssss” in my head.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I could of sworn druids brez was instant cast before or at least for certain specs, I'm like 99% sure feral predatory swiftness proc used to make brez instant and castable in any form, and I think even now brez is instant for guardian druids.

During bc, scorpid poison was broken for about a month with no cap on the stack. I was playing a hunter. On magtheridon had a rolling quarter million scorpid poison dot by the end of fight. It took them a month to patch this. Lol
