@@jitter9897 Off the top of my head: 1. He only takes action in controversies based on public awareness and opinion. For example, when Ray Rice punched his girlfriend so hard it left her unconscious, Goodell initially gave him a slap on the wrist since he was one of the few people who saw the footage of the incident. Once TMZ released the footage, Roger Goodell scrambled to issue even more harsh punishments towards Ray Rice and came up with some “special counsel” of women that would investigate domestic violence cases like this in the future. Bottom line, he’s a fickle flag in the wind that blows whichever direction the climate of public opinion is headed. We should have a commissioner that makes decisions based on the circumstances regardless of whether the public is aware or not. Who knows what other controversies were buried under him because the story never made it to the public. 2. He caused the mass exodus of veteran referees over minor payment disputes and replaced them with garbage tier refs that didn’t understand the rules of the game. See “the Fail Mary.” 3. He destroyed evidence related to the Spygate scandal without revealing it to the public. 4. He allowed teams to challenge no-call pass interference violations, and when the refs protested this new rule change by rejecting every single challenge coaches made, Goodell gave into these refs by eliminating the rule change once the controversy died down instead of issuing sanctions towards the refs that refused to do their jobs. That’s just off the top of my head, but yeah, maybe he shouldn’t lose an entire year’s worth of salary, but just lose half of it. After all, instead of being paid $10 million, he’d only get $5 million. Still a pretty comfortable wage to live off of.

It’s crazy how people still don’t think there’s reason to believe Brady was doing something shady in Deflategate. Investigators found a ball boy was nicknamed “the deflator” and when they asked Brady for his cellphone to look at his text messages, he immediately destroyed the evidence. Even in the US legal system, the destruction of evidence after it has been requested warrants a presumption of guilt, and even if the Pats didn’t need to cheat during the game that exposed Deflategate, the punishments are still necessary to address any potential prior violations and deter future ones…

That "Deflategate" situation was an absolute joke. Tom Brady should never have been fined for that. Period. The NFL was just salivating to punish New England for something. I watched that playoff game in real time. The game itself was cold and rainy that day causing many turnovers and dropped balls. Cold weather can cause things to shrink. New England went to win that game mostly to a running game to pound there success. It also happened to be the game that the Colts morale was just utterly destroyed. They got embarrassed. The better team won and that's all that happened. ( Also interesting fact at that note at that time. The NFL actually doesn't provide there own footballs. The teams themselves actually had to supply there own footballs. 🧐 You would think if the NFL wanted to ensure a fair match that the NFL itself would be providing the official footballs to use in each game. Funny how that works. I don't know if this policy ever changed or not. Either way its truly ridiculous. )
