He was implying she got famous off that type of bullshit tabloid style daytime TV show like Jerry Springer: farming views by having outlandish guests and talking points on the show. Such as bringing little people on the show and airing they're dirty laundry to get more viewers. Most of these TV hosts started off doing some pretty crass stuff I'm the beginning before finding their niche and tailoring their act to suit. Him saying she stood on the heads of those little people is just him saying she exploited them as a means to raise herself up, gain more recognition, become more famous, etc. It's just a figure of speech but the way he delivers it is great and given the scenario he paints I can't help but imagine Oprah literally clamoring over a crowd of little people: standing on their heads with no regard.
@randomuser26192 жыл бұрын
@@Simo258 When Oprah first started, she was competing against tabloid talk shows (Geraldo Rivera, Sally Jessy Raphael, even Mort Downey Jr), and therefore she was pressured to have lurid, tabloid-y themes to attract viewers. At that point Oprah did not have much control over her own show, so she went along with it. But once she became famous, she used her leverage to ditch the tabloid themes, and started producing a more mainstream program. I'm with you. Same thing with Musk. All respect for managing big companies and guiding those ships but one needs to differentiate between respect for running companies and respect for actually knowing enough about technology to actually do the legwork yourself for many years and thousands of hours. Now, the debate would be that we've become so astronomically more complex technologically that it becomes difficult for someone these days to be in their basement coming up with groundbreaking inventions and tech shifts on their own. That said, the god-like worship for Jobs and Musk tells more about how the average Joe thinks (not deeply) than Jobs and Musk themselves. But again, it's easier to worship them than to worship a whole team. It's easier and more marketable to feel good about buying an iphone thinking one hippie came up with it on his own and built it with his bare hands than whole teams in the lab and sweatshops in Asia.
