If you said yes, remember that NOT every city in Europe is like a visit to Paris with a supermodel. Sometimes, despite all the history and amazing architecture, some cities in Europe should be avoided. Europe is often considered the best continent to visit. Rotterdam in the Netherlands is becoming a nightmare, lots of explosions and gun violence. Last year an aspiring doctor killed his neighbour and her daughter because they had complained about his animal abuse and then shot and killed a professor at his medical school, terrorizing the students there. Many neigbourhoods are unsafe although several previously unsafe neigbourhoods have been gentrified, you get this weird mix of rich people in penthouses and poor people living in each other's vicinity. As a native Philadelphian now living in the UK, I am able to travel to Europe a lot. I have never felt crime is as much of an issue in any European city as compared to the US. I have lived in Colorado, Miami, NC, PA. Now live outside London. Of course petty crime is everywhere, but I don't fear mass shootings.

Right about Bradford I was raised there, but the pollution bit was back in the mid 1800's and as a result it ended up with a sophisticated sewage treatment system that was years ahead of most European cities back in the day. Once the most prosperous city in Britain and now one of the poorest, but that's another story. Edit: Ironically it is still one of the friendliest cities I've known.

I wasn’t surprised when I saw Naples on your list. But I also stayed there for 3 weeks and had a blast. A lot of things to see especially if you love history. Mt. Vesuvius, Herculaneum, and Pompeii are close by. I wasn’t even scared roaming this place even at night. I felt safe and nobody messed with me. But I will also agree with what was said in this video. You can definitely feel that you can’t be too complacent strolling the city. The only real thing that scared me is the driving. It’s worse than Rome and I’d get a heart attack just driving in the city. One best part about Naples though is the food; especially seafood! It’s cheap and delicious! I could definitely eat at restaurants almost every night here. I hope I can go back someday. ❤

I've been to four of the cities listed ... Catania, Sicily, Italy seemed fine to me, I've been there twice and I'd happily return again, I was surprised to see it so high up the list. Naples was nowhere as bad as I'd been lead to believe, though my understanding is that the worst areas are some of the outer housing developments and I never went to any of those. The area I was staying in (close to the central station) was a bit sketchy but I was prepared for it and took care when walking around to be aware of my surroundings. I was born and raised in central England and have visited both Birmingham and Coventry on many an occasion. The centre of Birmingham always seemed fine to me but some of the inner suburbs were a bit iffy. Coventry always seemed more dull than dangerous.

Can confirm for Naples. Went there with the knowledge that it has a bad history of (organized) crime and was a bit unsure about it. But the districts that you normally are in as a tourists are seemed fine. They have done a lot of modernizing in the former overcrowded old town and you can definitely see that. The only part that I saw and found a bit sketchy was the area immediately around the train station but that's not uncommon for cities. What was interesting though were the security measures at a post office with two bullet proof doors that you had to walk through individually

Paris is really not that bad. It is a huge city so it is normal that some parts of criminality. But Grenoble is on another level, and the police and administrations actually didn't go to some neighborhoods until recently so the stats are flawed. Sorry but there are parts of London like Croydon , Thornton heath , Tottenham , Tower Hamlets etc that are equally on par with Birmingham , I should know i grew up in the city and now live near London due to work. Birmingham attracts a lot of slack , media negativity and disdain from a lot of commentator's regularly and yes it has many inner and outer estates and parts that are unsafe , impoverished and deprived but that's usually the case in most inner cities throughout Europe. It's well known that the city has struggled for decades due to poor civic guidance . lack of national government investment and weak political leadership and that has affected the social economic picture within the city hence it's current struggle. It has affluent areas and decent neighbourhood's and is affordable in comparison to other cities within the country but in my opinion what really let's the city down is the lack of civic pride within the residents and who can blame them with crime , poverty , gang violence , social deprivation at an all time high thanks to no one taking stock politically of the situation and the local police funding decimated its a losing battle in a city with poor demographics and lack of opportunities for many youngsters who do educate themselves and try hard to get out of poverty like i did. But what really annoys me is the political leaders of this city and their determination to keep the residents downtrodden , depressed and uneducated , they seem to remain in power thanks to creating a divided city full of declining suburbs , marginalized communities , racism , postcode division and no civic pride within its much suffering residents and sadly that's why so many media outlets always round on the city , it's easy to pick on poor cities with sizable minority demographics that are struggling economically but the focus should be on the people tasked with leading the city they are the guilty one's who feed these types of narratives.

Is that a rhetorical question? Bradford has a very high Muslim population many of whom are Islamists. Their is a two tier policing service so they get away with a lot of their criminal behaviour. It is the Islamists many whose families have come from places like Pakistan that engage in serious organised crime. Hence, Bradford's nickname is Bradfordistan. Soon most cities in the UK will be like this because our politicians are traitors.
