10 Diet & Fitness Myths You Need to Stop Believing!
1) I must workout in the morning
2) Myth 2: I mustn’t eat late night or I’ll be fat
3) I’m trying to lose weight, I’m staying away from carbs.
4) All calories are the same
5) It's all about the numbers on the scale
6) If I lift weights, I'll be bulky
7) I want to lose tummy fat, I need to do more crunches
8) To lose weight fast, I need to do more cardio (fix light)
9) The longer or the more I workout, the quicker I’ll achieve results
10) I’m not sweating, therefore I’m not getting a good workout

The most ridiculous myths ppl believed in my country: "COLD WATER MAKES YOU FAT!" So then they drink warm water but eat a lot fried food coz they think the warm water will eliminate the oil. 😂😂😂😂😂

I have never heard that myth, I have heard that if you drink cold water you burn more calories because your body needs to warm it 🙄😂🤦🏼‍♀️

I love everything you teach Joanna! I workout 5 to 6 days a week and do Zumba all workouts for 45 to an hour, sometimes two hours. From size 6 to Size 16 in my lifetime I am not a heavy sweater and barely do sweat on my back and I live in Texas so that's definitely a myth LOL. I cant believe you only do 2 High intensity workouts! Eye opening. This has literally saved me!! YOU ARE SERIOUSLY THE BEST!!

I don't know much about you. But have watched your few workout videos which shows you're a fitness trainer. Having said that have few doubts on workouts. Could you please answer below questions which I have in my mind to achieve my fitness goals? . 1. What time should I workout in the morning? 2. What time should I workout in the evening? 3. Is warm up and cool down important before and after workout? 4. Is warm up and cool down necessary for short time workouts say for example 5 minutes or 10 minutes? 5. How to recover our legs soon after leg workout ? Hope I get answers for these questions soon.

Joanna this video was sooooo helpful! I believed in about half of the myths that you mentioned here. I would have my dinner before 6, even though I would actually sleep at 12. I was avoiding carbs as much as I could too. I guess I wasn't consuming enough calories to boost my workouts. My question is how I can figure out my fat to muscle ratio composition in my body? Yes i agree with most of her points. Especially the eating at night. Except that the low carb diet has been the most effective weight loss diet. There's something called metabolic syndrome and insulin response. I don't think u realize that. You are advocating a healthy diet which is great for maintenance but someone who needs to lose fat needs more than just a healthy diet

all caloires are the same, idk why people think there not. they are the same, if your talking about processed foods and low nutrients its because they are unhealthy but the calorie count is the same.

Hi Joanna, I have a question I recently have been going to the gym with a trainer where we do resistance training and some cardio for 3 days a week and about an hour My trainer will travel for vacation for 2 weeks she told me to do cardio on the treadmill while she is not here Is that enough ?

While I'm losing weight, I'm noticing differences everywhere except my arms. They have gotten larger even from small reps and toning. Is there anyway to reduce that fat or is that just how a person's body can be?

don't worry about it. Just keep going. Each body tends to store fat in different areas, therefore it might take a bit longer for those areas to get free of the fat. Don't lose hope. It's normal

1) working out in the morning. there is no evidence proving this. 2) i shouldn’t eat late at night. it’s not about the timing of your food but the amount of food. 3) stay away from carbs. complex carbs are good for you but simple carbs are not. 4) all calories are the same. where you get your calories from is important because not all calories are the same 5) it’s all about the number on the scale. The muscle to fat ratio is more important than weight 6) lifting weights leads to being big and bulky. women do not have enough hormones to gain that much muscle except while following certain diets or exercising a ton. 7) crunches can help you lose belly fat. you can’t spot reduce fat. 8) to lose weight fast do cardio. you need to do strength training and cardio for best results. 9) the longer you work out the more weight you will lose. the intensity of your workout impacts you way more than the length of your workout. 10) not sweating leads to a bad workout. the amount you sweat varies from person to person so it’s not always the case that sweating means working out better.

Doesn’t time matter though, if I eat at like 12:30 am and I’ll be going to sleep at 1:15am my body won’t have enough time to burn that? So it would be stored as fat?

Actually there are studies that show that your BMR (amount of calories you burn in a resting state, aka doing nothing besides existing ) DOES NOT CHANGE AT NIGHT, SO YOU WILL STILL BURN THEM EVEN DURING YOUR SLEEP. As she sais, as long as you do not overeat or consume unhealthy foods you are good to go.

There is too many information nowadays that I don't know what to believe anymore. A doctor once told me that it didn't matter if I consumed 5000 calories a day or if I drank a bottle of oil as long as I ate protein all day. Of course I didn't feel good I was always hungry and craving for vegetables and fruit.

Hi Joanna, I like all your videos. All of the facts I agree with but there is one that I am not too sure about - That is eating at night. I have been training for many years and keep a close eye on what and when I eat. I eat most of my calories (Esp carbs) during the day than at night and that has worked wonders for my waist line. After watching your video yesterday, I ate something (tofu) at night time.. I dont disagree that it will not cause weight gain but then to say its kinda ok to eat at night is not fully right either. the reason I say it is because it caused me to feel bloated and discomfort in bed. I woke up feeling heavy. I would still encourage people to consume most of their calories during the day for that reason. you are doing fantastic and keep up the great work. thanks

I workout in the morning because: 1. UV Rays are not as strong until 10 am. 2. It makes me feel better and I have more energy throughout the day. My mind is more active, and I feel like I can study better 😊

I love this video. My fav myth is the one about when you should eat. People always tell me eat a big breakfast, small dinner, no food after 7pm. I always thought it was silly. I sit at a desk all day and do my chores and workouts in the evening, why would I starve myself then when I need energy to get my work done? Thank you for your common sense :)

the most ridiculous myth I've heard is that if you exercise with the electric fan pointing directly at you or if the air-conditioning is turned on you will get pneumonia once your sweat dries up. At the gym I go to the gym goers turn off the air-conditioning during group cardio exercises. What they do not realize is that we are prone to heat stroke if we exercise in hotter environments

It is so refreshing to see scientifically accurate diet on KZbin. It isn't easy to come by. I wish I saw the lemon water myth on here, so many people believe that one.

Thanks for the video, Joanna, very good video. I agree completely with you .Another myth¿? (I don't know if this is a myth or not, you tell me please) not to eat fruit from 6pm because it makes you fat...Somebody says that is not correct, somebody says that is right.....I don't know. Meenakshi Arunkumar not true at all!! They have different benefits. Strength training is important and yoga can help to improve flexibility and of course it'l benefit the mind too.
