There's two things you need to do: 1. build muscle aka the metabolism boosting - calorie burning body tissue. 2. learn how to track macros and eat at calorie deficit - the three building blocks of calories. Try 30% of total calories fats, .8-1g of protein per body weight, and the rest carbs. If this is confusing, start learning it now. Surprisingly you can eat better and more than you think, if home cooked. Also, mostly every item he listed here you can eat, and are eaten by those people who successfully lose weight. Make sure you get into the habbit of buying groceries every week, cooking your meals every day - this active activity will help you be hand on regarding tracking. Eat for fuel for physical and or cognitive endeavors and post recovery only, no boredom eating nor eating for fun (yet - only when youve earned it by building enough calorie burning muscles).

Plase dont't be scientifically accurate.
@darranridleyАй бұрын
@@RotatingLocomotive Being scientifically accurate makes a big difference. @ukpsmiling2 is absolutely correct. If these experts are not scientifically accurate, how can we believe anything they say? Look at the "Enriched Noodles", they are just wheat flour and eggs "enriched" with Niacin (vitamin B3), Ferrous sulfate is a type of iron that's used as a medicine to treat and prevent iron deficiency anaemia. Iron helps the body to make healthy red blood cells, which carry oxygen around the body, Thiamine mononitrate (vitamin B1), riboflavin (vitamin B2) and Folic acid which is another B vitamin. It helps the body make healthy new cells. Do you have to eat canned chicken noodle soup - No, can you make it fresh yourself - absolutely yes! Then take MSG for instance, its the sodium salt of glutamic acid, which is found naturally in food like tomatoes, mushrooms, aged cheeses such as parmesan and Roquefort and aged beef. It is also produced by the body. Under normal conditions, humans can metabolize relatively large quantities of glutamate, which is naturally produced in the gut in the course of protein hydrolysis. In Asian cuisine, cooking kombu (seaweed) with protein creates the the sodium salt of gutamic acid (MSG). The white powdery subtance on kombu is not mold, its the amino acid glutamine. Interaction of the kombu broths with other umami-producing ingredients like bonito flakes (katsuobushi) or shitake mushrooms creates natural flavor enhancers. Bonito flakes have inosinic acid, and shitakes have guanylate, both of which act synergistically with the glutamic acid in kombu to create a lot more umami than kombu alone. So you see, you do not need to add packet MSG to achieve the flavor enhancing effects of MSG, you can just use it in its natural form. And if you are still hung up about the myth that MSG is bad for you, you can avoid eating all the foods mentioned above, where MSG is naturally occurring.

Exactly, I lived in the UK for 15 years and their diet has took a toll on me, I have developed serious IBS symptoms, so I was forced to change my diet, since I did it I feel a lot better. I’ve started to basically eat only foods that have retained their natural appearance, i do not eat processed foods a part from rice. I do indeed spend a bit more but I have to admit I feel a lot better and I will save up in future medical bills. I buy fresh free range eggs from a farmer near my house, I only buy Swiss free range organic beef or chicken from the butcher once a month ( I live in Switzerland) I buy fresh fruits and vegetables that are seasonal and locally grown from a cheap farmers market near me, they deliver a full box for $10 every week, I try to eat raw vegetables as much as I can (carrots, peppers, tomatoes and spinach’s) I only drink tap water and I filter it with my Brita caraffe, I stay away from breads, butter, cheeses, the only thing I still eat that is made with dairy is natural yogurt. I also eat a lot of fish, I avoid Nordic wild or raised fish since the Nordic sea is the most polluted. I mean it is hard work but processed foods are overfilled with all these weird ingredients that I have to avoid completely.

"A labelling trick, called LYING" genius. I learned that labelling trick the painful way many times over when trying to clean up my eating due to allergies to wheat, gluten, yeast, back in 2005. I found out, painfully, that the food companies do not have the consumer's best interests at heart and the only way to eat was whole foods. That doesn't mean it's been smooth sailing, with the advent of better gluten free products and better labelling (at least in the UK), I've stacked on the weight, going from very slim to being 40+ lbs overweight. As a nurse, I always found that taking the time to read "nutritional information" facts on products was very scary. When you take the time to actually look up some ingredients, you realize you should not be putting poisons in your body. I once worked as a community health supervisor for the Red Cross and made it my mission to try and get low income people to eat healthier. It wasn't easy. I distinctly remember my mom buying margarine in the early 60's. It was basically white and came with a little bubble of orange colored liquid which you would mix into the margarine to color it. "Holistic doctor" makes one raise an eyebrow already but just the first example already baffled me. Enriched means depleted? Okay, only in your world is added folic acid somehow negative. Wheat is unhealthy? You mean the basic food half of humanity has lived off of for thousands of years? MSG's impact on health has been researched quite thouroughly and nothing points to it actually being harmful, acting like it is a neurotoxin is criminal. What is so bad about starch? Are all carbohydrates bad somehow? Phosphate seems to be connected to renal diseases but only if it is added artificially, it is usually entirely fine. The seriousness with which this absolute horseshit is presented makes the blood of someone who actually studied these foods boil. If someone is just spouting stuff like this without any explanation or proof listening to them is entirely irrational.

@francescocandian27082 жыл бұрын
@@Свободадляроссии enriched means depleted for the simple fact that one does not need to enrich a food which originally contained all its nutrients. Enriched does NOT mean that it is "richer in nutrients than the original", but that it has likely been DEPRIVED of its original nutrients (the latter being employed elsewhere) and filled back with (lower quality, cheaper) ingredients/nutrients. A typical example? Cocoa butter is used in cosmetics, but also to make high-quality chocolate. But it is LEGAL to make (low-quality) chocolate with other fats too (i.e. soy lecithin). So why not make a higher margin by both selling cocoa butter to the cosmetic industry and "enriching" chocolate with lecithin instead? The word "enriched" is purposely misleading, and you don't seem to get it... Wheat is not unhealthy "per se", and the same goes for starch and carbs. Isn't this obvious? But everybody as much obviously knows that carbs are THE problem in diabetical western societies' nutrition criteria. The point he is trying to make is that carbs are "hidden" by manipulating consumers' perceptions and purposely displaying misleading information. How many people do think that wheat is waaaaaay healthier than white? Obviously this is FALSE... The introduced "wheat diversification" was instrumental to marketing, and NOT in the consumer's interest. Imho these videos are eye-opening!
@Свободадляроссии2 жыл бұрын
@@francescocandian2708 Because you're purposely twisting the meaning of the word to fit an agenda. You can enrich a food without depleting it, of course you can both add nutrients and take some away but usually that is not the case. How would you for example remove minerals or vitamins from an ingredient? That simply isn't done, far too complicated to be of any use. Other fats being used in place of cocoa butter is not depleting or enriching, that's just using a different ingredient and is clearly listed on the packaging. On the other hand plenty of foods are legitimately enriched. Plenty of breakfast cereals for example have added folate or vitamin C and D. Some even have all vitamins. There is nothing wrong with these foods, they are just outright better than if they weren't enriched. Oh and folate enrichment is very useful since getting sufficient amounts naturally is extremely difficult.

Being 300 pounds and 44 years of age, I'm rethinking a lot about my diet. I ate like a teenager for most of my years eating things like pizza, ice cream and soda. I'm paying more attention to what's in our food and there's a lot of things in this video I already knew, but just brushed it out of my mind when it's time for a meal. You don't often think about what's in processed food when you're eating. I haven't touched diet cola in months and I haven't had any ice cream in over a month. While I do enjoy a soda with my meal, my next step is to have water with my meal as I'm trying to cut out excess sugar. I've gone months at my job without drinking diet soda and I've gotten used to drinking just water these days while I'm at work. I still find it difficult to resist buying a pizza when I'm out grocery shopping, but I do manage to find some success just by ignoring my craving for it. I'm hoping in time as I cut these foods out of my diet that my body will drop some weight with the physical activity I get while I'm working and while I'm out riding my bike for exercise.

Dr. Ekberg, I have a topic suggestion for you. I have been struggling with this question and would LOVE your perspective. For someone who maintains a healthy weight and follows a ketogenic diet for the overall health benefits and wellbeing they accrue from it, should they cycle onto "acceptable carbs" (sweet potatoes, etc.) for a week or two every two to three months in order to promote metabolic flexibility? I would LOVE to know whether carb cycling of this kind is beneficial for metabolic health or is unnecessary and should be avoided, and if it is recommended, what is the best way to proceed with acceptable carb cycling. There is always conflicting research on a variety of things. General principles are good - but we're listening to one man's perspective and experience. Before you take this information as actionable for yourself, do some research to confirm. Like anything, any of these items on this list "Top 10" list will cause harm if overdone. There is research showing that a diet soda once in awhile will not negatively impact health. Of course, drinking them every day likely will.
