You know it just hit me! I know of a way that Fire Emblem Fates could have been the absolute top Fire Emblem game! Remove the child units from Conquest and Birthright, have Revelation actually be a follow-up story to either Birthright or Conquest, like say 15 years later, depending on which path you choose, and have have the children star in Revelation! Boom! There you go! Best and biggest Fire Emblem game ever!

I... actually kinda like this idea! Like, the overall theme of choice is preserved with Birthright and conquest, and then the choices are carried into this follow up of yours, and its the children who end up discovering Anankos and the reason why the Invasion of Nohr/Conquest of Hoshido occurred. It's a hefty thing tho, but still a cool idea.

Interesting idea. And then you have a bigger insentive to marry everyone off to their best mothers (or as good as possible) so that the units your stuck with are as good as possible. After all, I'd assume if the children didn't have a mother their father would just marry a random villager, and we'd seen how poorly that could wind up for units. But this also brings up an interesting idea, what about the children from the side you don't choose? Soleil, Ophelia, Siegbert and some other kid most likely wouldn't show up if you side with Hoshido since Xander dies, Laslow either dies or goes back to Ylisse, and so does Odin and Selena. And on Nohr's side, you wouldn't get Kiragi, Shiro, Asugi, and some other kid since Takumi, Ryoma, Saizo, and Kagero dies. Of course, Soleil and Ophelia could still show up. I do see a bit of a problem with the idea though, if there are children from the opposite side you sided with. If there were, and with this idea I could see this happening since that would mean IS wouldn't have to remake ALL the text to fit the characters and just some text for the characters that couldn't join. The problem is that they would need to be given canonical stats and stuff. One of the best things about child units is that they are very customizable, but here the likely thing to happen for each character from the opposite side is that they are given a generic class from their "mother", or more likely they can only heart seal into their father's class. Plus, their growths would more likely be more like first gen characters. Unless you REALLY like a character from the opposite side and really wanna use them, its likely they'd be outclassed by the characters you were actually able to customize. Which is kinda disappointing... I love the idea as well, and think it would have made Revelations more interesting

Well this goes back to why I said BioWare should handle the choice mechanic. What if the choices you make determine the fates (Ha!) of the characters. You could choose to either spare or kill. This would make the game either easier, or more challenging. Maybe sparing certain characters could net you rewards, or perhaps it'll come to bite you in the ass later, making the battle more difficult. It would all depend on YOUR choices. And to add a little more, for first time players, it wouldn't be clear what impact you choices would have until you make that choice, keeping you guessing

Gazak is easily one of the hardest units to capture (imo at least) since in most circumstances it requires Niles. And if there's one thing we know about Niles, it's that he can always take a hit! Right guys..? Haha...ha...oh god.... Gazak is hella beastly though and I practically soloed the entire latter half of the game with him

Finally said it. They are horrible parents. Putting them in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber just to bring them out so they can fight a war. The worst offenders are the Awakening trio, since they already felt the neglect of their parents or lost their parents from the war, so they sort of gave their own kids that same pain in some way. Also, love how you're combining scenes with your real face and your BlazingKnight Avatar. It's a good combo that adds to the video. I've also noticed that you've started adjusted your tone in some parts of the video, in making some of the more subtext talking, like how Nyx is underrated. I really like it, so keep it up. You know, some actually argued that the Awakening clones were not complete clones of their Awakening counterparts, and had some neat arguments about them. Though the presentation kills it for me cause they make it seem like they're just clones. However, I have felt that they aren't complete carbon copies of the Awakening characters, but rather they are the younger versions that are still in the developing phase and not cemented like the Awakening ones. He functions much better there, and it really shows. Yeah, I actually reset the game a few times because I thought I killed Nina. Funny how Leo is disapproving of his son's female look when he was the reason Forrest wanted to do it in the first place. Most of these maps are Conquest maps, which makes sense, given that they are more strategic based. But I like how some Birthright and neutral maps made it in as well. Gotta give credit to Fates for some good level design cause they really did succeed in some of the cases where it counts... though they failed in others sadly. Overall good video. Really loved it. Can't wait to see the Awakening Paralogues in the future. And I still hope that you can make a top 10 or so DLC maps. Or talk about Apotheosis. Come on, BlazingKnight, show that you can truly be the greatest tactician of Fire Emblem by defeating Anna!!!

I loved this breakdown! Seeing your reasoning was really interesting because I really didn't consider the freedom of strategies when playing through them myself (It's not because I forgot what most of the levels were, honest). That and even when your opinions differ to mine, you present them in such a way that I don't really see any issue with it. Of all the people I've seen talk about Fire Emblem, I'd say your take on things matches the closest to mine, but the way you go about the list and the small jabs of humour meant that it was enjoyable even if I didn't agree. As much as I hated the Deeprealms(With a passion), the characters that came out of them makes me hesitate and wonder of better methods. Such as having these characters be friends instead of the parent. While it would break some into full rewriting(for Fates? Nooo....) it would have kept the game's identity from being as blended into Awakening. Such as the beast units being good friend/sister/strong warrior of their respective clan. Or Nina being a kid Niles brought to a better home to care for her. Even these sound believable in Fates compared to Deeprealms. I did like a large number of the characters, only a few leaving me uninterested in them or feel uninvested(Like Laurent). Chapter wise it was Forrest for me, I tilted my head as I saw blatant case of being a bad parent(aside from a weeks visit and then bringing them to war). But seeing his map initially intimidate me and feel quite satisfying to break through. Also Forrest is one of my favorite Fates child units and character, so I'm pretty biased here.

UncannyStageRage You could argue that Birthright's difficulty and Revelation's map design are pretty poor too, although that's up for debate. However, Conquest is, in my opinion, one of the most rewarding and enjoyable Fire Emblem experiences as long as you slam the start button as soon as the first dialogue box pops up. The only gameplay flaw I can see as completely negative is the Endgame chapter save bullshit, which admittedly exists in prior games but I've avoided by emulating everything not on the 3DS.

I have a bit of a soft spot for Midori’s paralogue. You see, the first time I ever unlocked it was on my second play through of Birthright. My first time through I had lost Kaze (my favorite character in the game) to that guide dang it moment, and on my second time through I was determined to find a way to prevent it. I decided to try the Shinjiro approach (at least, that’s my name for it) by supporting with him to a-rank. I decided to go to s-rank for good measure and I was so shocked and happy that it worked, and afterwards I immediately went for Midori, who basically served as a constant reminder that my favorite character in Fates was still alive

Let's see : No real highlight stat besides Resistance. Average growth everywhere but HP. With only the former, Strength, Defense and Resistance being higher than Lyn's growths (and even then, the difference between both Strength Growths is only of 5%). Has a legendary weapon way too heavy for him. At least Lyn has an option for a lighter legendary weapon. No real ranged attacks until Promotion (and even then, no effective way to deal with ranged units). Is less likely to Crit than Lyn and is weaker than Hector (while also having much lower Defense than the latter and his Resistance is only *slightly* higher than his). Being FE's epitome of a Master of None. Conclusion, the only true edge he has over Lyn is that enemy placements are more advantageous to him. (meaning that the creators literally had to *rig it* for his sake (likely because of they wanted him to be better than his son)). I wouldn't be surprised if a Remake turns him into the Clive of the game... Hell, she's already a better unit in Heroes. Being able to actually get a higher Defense and Resistance than Eliwood.

Ahh see you've missed out some VERY important factor that put Eliwood above Lyn, also it's not just me who think Eliwood is objectively better than Lyn, any message board that talks objectively about FE7 unit will point out that Eliwood is better than Lyn. First and foremost unless you play Lyn mode before hand Eliwood has higher availability than Lyn. Secondly Eliwood has extremely good promotion bonuses, becoming a mounted unit & wielding lances upon promotion, where as Lyn stays foot locked and only gets bows, which ins FE7 deal only double damage instead of the usual triple, which is why archer suck in FE7. Thirdly since Eliwood gains lances upon promotion is helps a lot since FE7 is a very lance focused game, where as Lyn only has swords for close range combat, so she has a major disadvantage most of the time.

That's even more rigged towards Eliwood : Make it so bows are less effective than lances. I'm pretty sure this is how Intelligent Systems were during the making of FE7 : "The main character has pretty average stats and Lyn is faster and crits more." "OH NO! WE DON'T WANT ANOTHER ROY!" "I know! Let's rig the game so that it favors him and not Lyn!" "And let's give him a horse once he promotes!" And then they proceeded to forget about rigging the game against Hector. Hence why everyone favors him over Eliwood. And since IS is now aware of Lyn and Hector being more popular than Eliwood (Hector was so popular that TWO Lords were based on him and Lyn was the only FE7 character to make it into Warriors and Smash (though only as an Assist Trophy)), they might end up turning Eliwood into the next Clive if they decide to focus on "fanservice".

My dread fighter Odin in Conquest hard is pretty good. I forged killer weapons to take advantage of his personal and gave him death blow. He crits almost as much as archer Mozu. I also gave him a bolt axe to deal magical damage even though he can't crit with it because his magic is so high.

Also i never realized ya had/could visit mitama 3 times to get her i always just visit her once then continue the map and got her at the end i didnt knew that was another way to of done it thats interesting im gonna try that next time i do her map >W> same with Forrest's map i never notice the other ways of entering the map i always went in from the middle slowly and then using a singer to get Corrin up in the hallway were the boss is and let her take a full turn of hits, open the door leading to the back outside and went from there.

Actually Cordelia is Caledori's reincarnation so it comes full circle in another way. This is why you don't use time travel, you risk becoming your own grandma. (though in my game Caledori is the daughter of Hinoka so I avoided the time travel problems)

It’s nice to see some positivity about the Fates Paralogues. I understand why people say that the way of implementing children into Fates was a little forced but if such circumstances were able to introduce interesting characters and well thought out levels then to me that is a small price to pay. If children are going to be in Fire Emblem 16 I do hope that Intelligent Systems implement them with care and consideration.
