Yeah, that one was pretty funny, too. But a part of the reason I liked the Quill Pen's description is because of the fact that, ironically, daggers (of which the Quill Pen is) have a weapon triangle advantage against swords. Then there's also the Swordmaster class's ability to dual wield certain katanas in the game, which I think is pretty cool given that their map sprite is shown with a sword in each hand. The character models used in Fates are also quite a bit more detailed than they were in Awakening, I would say.

Beast units in Fates are very limited in the stones they can wield, which is why there's more importance to risks and the rewards, where as normal units have a wide variety of weapons and thus there are many more options to choose from to compensate.

Some of my favorite weapons are the magic swords in Genealogy. I really love how they do physical damage at melee and magic damage at range. I gave the Wind Sword to Ferry and Fee, and they shredded everything in their path. I also gave the Thunder Sword to Dew and Patty, and they were able to steal from range, which was fun.

On 18:15 Robin is clearly using the DLC witch class's transferred skill "Dark gift." It allowed said witch or others who got this ability to use Nasferatu without having to be a dark Mage. You see, there are technical possibilities still in-universe.

So for the raider weapons in fates, you can use them in castle battles to remove the enemy’s accessories as well as the stat boosts that come with them, meaning that they aren’t necessarily joke weapons, but considering how little you end up doing these things, I can see why you could overlook it.

I always like reacting when it comes to these lists, so here's my reactions to what's on your list. 15. Wo Dao can actually be used by other units in RD, I've given one over to Ike before. Still, good point and solid choice. 14. I think some of the Raider weapons actually ARE stronger than their bronze/brass counterpart. Not very much so, but still. I completely agree with the rest, of course. 13. They really should bring these sorts of tomes back, darn it. 12. >Talks about blessed weapons >Almost all the footage doesn't have any blessed weapons. That said, I agree completely, blessed weapons really are useful if you know how to use 'em. I've actually given them to some units and had them support Mozu so that I could get her some good level-ups, so I can agree here. 11. You forgot to mention that the stones+ in Fates give you stat decreases a la Silver weapons. Which aren't awful, but can still hinder you a bit. 10. Agreed, for sure. 9. Agreed again, Guard Naginata was always a favorite to use. 8. Fair point, I've always brought them along just in case. 7. Agreed. Even after losing crit and special attack properties in Fates, I still always kept them because of how good they were. Shame the shockstick in Awakening pretty much SUCKED tho... 6. Agreed, on all accounts. I almost never used them due to their Fates penalties, that was definitely a poor decision. But there actually was a hidden utility to them: in the attack stance, the supporting unit wouldn't actually accrue stat penalties when attacking, so they were best used by the back row. ...which is kinda sad, but still useful all the same. 5. Agreed, Dual/reaver weapons are super awesome, I always love having one on hand just in case. 4. Oh yeah, one of my favorite weapons in RD. I just absolutely loved using them. Nothing more needs to be said there. 3. Yep, on all accounts. Mind, I can get where they were coming from with the Nosferatu nerf, but too much there. Still, very awesome otherwise. 2. Oh yeah, Killer weapons are just such a blast in any FE, always loved 'em. 1. Ooooh yeah, Brave weapons really are some of the best in FE, I can agree that I really enjoy using them. Even their Fates counterparts are just of the high-risk-high-reward sort, so I can't complain, cuz they're still awesome. Though nothing will ever beat Brave Astra combos.

Amazing video! Great idea splitting up the two lists this way, otherwise the list would be nothing but legendaries! Agreed about blessed weapons! Claire with a blessed lance shreds through entire maps! Guard naginata helped tanking amazingly! Putting it on an already tanky character made them unstoppable. I have alone hate relationship with reaver weapons, they're amazing and help destroy maps with ease, but have also gotten me killed many times. There is nothing more satisfying than landing critical hit after critical hit!

Blazing Knight if you don't know the awesomeness that is the fe5 Pugi wielded by the god Othin (Orsin/Osain whatever) research into it and just know it is the greatest weapon in fe because you get it in the first chapter of fe5, Othin gets it who's already a decent unit without it, 10 mt, 80 hit (most accurate axe in fe5), 30 crit (killer hand axe), but get this: 60 USES combined with having access to hammerne (that has 5 uses in fe5) on ch.3 guarantees it'll last the whole game, and Othin also has wrath which crits on the counter-attack when an enemy attacks while also having a pcc of 3 (PCC multiplies crit rate on 2nd hit when doubling) so he also conserves uses. This is how a weapon gives birth to a great meme

I hope you were thinking of the Shining Bow and Flame Shuriken (and Felicia's Plate) when you talked about magic melee weapons (even though they're not melee weapons technically). I love those, especially the Shining Bow, since it attacks from 1-2 range. Valflame from Awakening is probably my favorite normal weapon. It is literally a giant explosion. There's nothing more satisfying than watching your enemies go "BOOM!" I gotta give recognition to Scrolls in Fates. They are the most creative weapons I've seen in Fire Emblem. Summoning animal and beastly spirits to attack is really cool in motion, and the joke scrolls are hilarious. You can summon a pile of paper and toss it at enemies. What?! XD

I must say, it'll be interesting to see what your favorite Legendary weapons are! (My personal favorite is Ryoma's Raijinto, simply because it's a lightning sword) That in mind, and a few comments on some of your choices: Raider Weapons - Can't really disagree with what you'd said about them, but Sophie doesn't need them OR a weapon triangle advantage, and I love that about her. Celica's Gale - It has low might but high accuracy: you know what? Most wind tomes in Awakening are the same way, and for the later reason, I always had at least one of them of some sort in the inventory of any tome wielders I sent into battle. I also liked the thunder tomes a lot, too, but you could probably guess that based on what I said about Raijinto earlier. Fire magic, on the other hand, was pretty useless in Awakening overall. You might have said that we were spoiled in that game with the tomes we had, but I found little reason to use fire magic when both thunder and wind magic were more useful. (for the most part, anyways) Nosferatu - Dark Mages might have been frail in earlier games (I'll just have to take your word for it, I haven't played the older titles yet), but unless we're talking about Nyx, they certainly are NOT fragile in Awakening and Fates. In fact, their tankiness makes them stand out when compared to most other magic users in the games, and the class was the main reason I wanted to get Conquest before Birthright. On the topic of Dark Mages, I personally found Nyx to be worse for me than Odin. People say he sucks as a Dark Mage, but is awesome as a Samurai, and I just don't follow the logic of people that say so. But I found Nyx to be too unreliable for my tastes; her low skill AND luck stats make her accuracy garbage at worst and unreliable at best, and when compared to the other tougher Dark Mages that I'm used to, she had too many problems to hold up for me. That being said, and the video you listed that I want to see is the "Dumbest Complaints About the Series". That one should be interesting.

I do like the great lance, poleaxe, and blade in Radiant Dawn though I usually don't give my Swordmasters the blade variant of each sword due to appearance sake.

10.) Personally, I feel like Thunder magic was the best kind of magic in Awakening, due to the higher natural power and raised critical rate. Wind would be second overall, though, since it means you don't need archers in that game (woo), but getting the more plentiful Wind tome doesn't cut it; you need at least Elwind to make Wind magic worth it, which is a little further into the game. Since weaknesses triple the might of the weapon, even against flying foes, basic Thunder and Wind magic does the same damage. Either way, both are at least better than Awakening's Fire magic. I feel like there's no point to Fire if you can get the Thunder equivalent, with the possible exceptions of Micaiah's Pyre and Valflame granting some decent stat boosts. 7.) Ever try to use the magical swords in the GBA games? Apparently, they count as melee weapons at close range and as magic weapons at a distance (or the Light Brand and the Wind Sword do, anyway; the Runesword is magic even at close range). From what I understand, though, the magic attack dealt by these swords use only half the unit's Strength (though the full Might of the weapon is applied). Any thoughts on those?

That I can agree with. Thogh I would have liked Camilla to get more HP. I mean, I had a Lv20 Camilla with about 39 HP at endgame. I mean, her stats were nice as a Malig Knight, geez. Surely she could at least have 40-something (which is of course where Eternal Seals come in). Nyx, Orochi (if she survives), Ophelia, Leo, and Elise (especially)....those are great magic users. Still, it's like every magic user is astonishingly frail in Fates.

To add on to your point about Nosferatu, imagine this, which I did in Awakening: Have a male Robin. Marry Aversa to pass on Shadowgift to Morgan. Reclass Morgan to any magic class and she'll be able to use Nosferatu due to Shadowgift. Give her skills such as Ignis, Limit Breaker, Armsthrift, etc. Make a forged Nosferatu tome with high might and hit rate to make up for the low hit rate compared to other tomes. Morgan is basically the strongest unit in the game, and she normally has 50 skill. You have an unbreakable, powerful Nosferatu wielded by the strongest party member in the game, potentially as a Sage, Grandmaster, etc.

"Celica's gale... as in THAT Celica!" - Blazing Hang on a minute... Celica's original class in Gaiden was Priestess, which can learn White and Black Magic. And this must be a reference to Excalibur, its the only Wind spell Celica learns in Gaiden, But Nintendo couldn't give a toss about Fire Emblem when Awakening came out, it was supposed to be the last game in the series. Does this mean that Intelligent systems predicted that Awakening would sell really well and therefore the series would continue? Also, if this link is true, does that mean the other small nuggets and references to previous in Awakening are indicators of more remakes in the pipeline.. like the ones you predicted Blazing? If so then Intelligent systems have been developing (or at least planning) a Fire Emblem Gaiden remake for nearly 4 years, even when they knew the series would be cancelled. You know how some people ask if great artists know when they are making great art? Well I think Intelligent systems had one of those brainwaves

The Sunrise Katana in Fates is a great weapon for Swordsmasters since it grants them 20 avoid and insure that they will dodge everything that doesn't have swordbreaker.

@3:48 Raider Weapons can destroy enemies clothes and armor pieces when a user has weapon triangle advantage. When this happens, the enemies will reveal that they're wearing undergarments like shorts or briefs for male characters and two piece undergarment or undershirt and shorts for female character (please don't make me think that I'm a pervert). Some units carrying shields like Knights and Generals can still do their shield arm even they lose armor in a fight. I have a one question for you, Blazeknight. Is raider weapons can also destroy armor of their mounts like wyverns or pegasi because they also wear armor?

The silver weapons weren't so bad in fates as their might actually made up for the debuffs I would acquire after combat and would grant me one of each stat back each turn. I could use them while a character is assisting in a dual strike to negate this penalty, too. Anyway, great video, Blazing Knight.

I agree the Silver's are meant to be used offensively and not to be overused as I almost never saw the debuff weaken any of my character's using them till around the third or fourth decrease. really I feel Fates nerfed many of the weapons in a good way as even with Durability and the weight system in pre Awakening, many of those weapons were too overpowered, Silver were great but still abusive, the new system of fates meant you had to use more then one or two weapons...ignoring some Legendary weapons (Takumi and Ryoma had the worst ones not cause they were bad, but because Leo and Xander's Legendary weapons were strong but not too powerful that their alternative's Odin, Silas and Peri were still good choices to pick, While there's no reason to use Mozu (Who is almost useless in Birthright and Revelations due to Takumi being playable) or Setsuna with Takumi around, and Ryoma turns the game into Ryoma Emblem making Hana and ESPECIALLY Hinata useless, which is why I convoy Raijinto and Fujin Yumi the moment their recruited till the endgame, I just tell myself in my mind that something happened to make them unusable till the final few maps of Birthright, as for Revelations, I don't play Revelations due to hating alot about that game, I know the story of it, and seen the maps, and decided to save my 20 dollars for better things like putting it towards Echoes), Weapon Durability is something to agree to disagree with Blazing Knight since I actually love that weapons minus Staves/Batons don't break and I've played the series since we got FE7 Blazing Sword when it came out on the GBA and have never looked back, I don't hate the old system but I can see IS trying to balance it out to compromise between us fans who loved the old weight system of old and the Awakening fans who like not having a weight system limiting them based on Stats alone since without Weight, doubling was way to easy to see happen with the overpowered weapons which is my major criticism to Awakening (Awakening though I love the game and still play it today is to me the easiest fire emblem, not sacred stones and I have played no grind playthroughs of the game and still do thanks to my Wii U)

I totally agree on Killer Weapons, the sweet sound of crits everywhere, (quite literally based on how broken my Birthright team is) My good spouse Scarlet has a Great Club +5, granted the Great Club has low accuracy, it makes up in damage output, plus Scarlet's personal skills helps with any killer weapons, that's why she starts out with a Killer Axe

It's so funny to use reverse weapons agains the enemy the wielder has advantage on. Trust me, there's nothing more fun that sending a berserker with a swordsreaver to a group of sword-locked enemies.

It's because they're myrmidon exclusive weapons, where as killing edge can be used by any sword user.

Jokes aside, two things that kind of bugged me. 1. The Wendy montage had both the background music you used in the entire segment and the FE6 battle music playing at the exact same time which was very annoying and I'm not paying the hospital bill. 2. Why did you only mention Awakening and Fates characters/weapons in the Magic Melee Weapon segment? PoR's Sonic Sword is practically made for Mist. The Runesword in GBA-FE9 and the Earth Sword in FE4 are also basically Nosferatu, allowing even Swordmasters to choke points (somewhat).

I personally prefer iron weapons in fates because it doesn't reduce your chance for double hits and it still let's you land crits

My personal favorite weapons were the iron weapons in the GBA games. Real high durability, decent power, awesome hit, and they would never weigh anyone down. Sure they were outclassed by silver, brave, and legendary weapons, but for early to mid game (or even possibly late game) they were more than enough.

When Colm was hitting the enemy as an Assasin in the Killer Weapon section, in the first clip, he was using Lethality, not a crit. The next clip properly shows a crit. Minor nitpick, but I'd thought I'd let you know.

yeah without a doubt Brave Weapons are just monsters. For legendary i'd have to think about it. But Raijinto and Ragnell immediately come to mind. Cannot remember the names of the ones in Sacred Stones I think the light tome was ivaldi or something like that.

There was a light tome called Ivaldi. But there was also a dark tome, that Lyon used: Naglfar. Eirika's sword was Seiglinde, while Ephriam's lance was Seigmund, but before that, he had Reginleif.
