It was because of the ‘flying ginger’ (Toby Segar) that I got the parkour virus. I have a PhD on biomechanics and at the age of 43 I saw for the first time the Denmark double kong. I’ve never imagined that human beings could move like that! To me, gravity always felt like tyranny - it nails us to the ground!!! Along came Toby, like a Citizen V, to broaden my view of reality. As always, amazing video Jimmy - Thank you!

Why the use of 'cigar' in the original post: In the British TV edition of Ninja Warrior, the presenter calls Toby the 'cigar man' if I recall correctly. It's of poor taste and doesn't do justice to a PK legend such as Toby. Now the original post is way better!!

I remember I got into parkour after watching B13 and was amazed at how David Belle moved, and it was that "as fast as possible a-b parkour" that really snagged me. I lost the bug a few years later though when everything about the sport became basically "gymnastics on concrete" where guys would do crazy flips and spins and twirls. It was super impressive, but I found it kind of boring after a while. I wanted to see somebody push there body to the limit to go as fast as possible through a series of obstacles, like if gumby was a formula 1 car. I'm glad to see that that kind of parkour is starting to make a comeback.

In my opinion, you HAVE to carry style in parkour. Within that comes specific moves and tricks. And that’s what gets you known as an athlete. Also as an athlete so admittedly does the same moves a lot, I don’t really care about diversity because I’m having fun ❤️

Haven't found a single video where you talk about David Belle though. (don't chew me out if you already have I haven't done an extensive search of your archive). It just feels surprising to me cause he was a figure who blew me away as a teenager and is widely regarded as the grandfather of the sport so would be awesome to see (or find) a video where you go in depth on the guy cause he really did some amazing things. Anyway, enough of all that. Love the channel and your general vibe and enthusiasm. Gonna hit that subscribe button now and carry on. Stay safe and keep going strong!

Impressive jumps in general. - Joe Scandrett - impressive descents - Alexander Titarenko (blueshorts) - on similar level as Pasha / erik3run; won Red Bull Art of motion a few years ago - Tim Champion - impressive athleticism, especially in recent years; won Ninja Warrior UK last year - Erik Mukhametshin (erik3run) - one of the older well-known athletes; on similar level as Pasha and very good at flips - Sydney Olson - won Red Bull Art of Motion (women) last year - Katie McDonnell - cool to see her evolve to do more stunts in Hollywood, like playing Rey's stunt double in Star Wars - Hazal Nehir - worked with Storror on 6 Underground recently and sponsored by Red Bull; also love her style - Calen Chan - impressive flip combos; came in fourth in Red Bull Art of Motion a few years ago - Jesse LaFlair - another older well-known athlete; recently on Ultimate Tag - Lorena Abreu - coming back to parkour after injury - James Kingston - not a parkour athlete anymore, but was great at it before gaining fame climbing cranes and the Eiffel tower and wrote a book about it before his KZbin vids got demonetized. - teamashigaru - Andi Wohle, Silke Sollfrank, etc.

Benj just seems to add these cosmetic tricks that are supposed to indicate good flow like the 180s everywhere, while Max just seamlessly transitions from one move to the next one. But like I said, I know nothing about the sport. Just enjoy watching the really good ones.

Very Uk-ish view on the topic. all of them are great athletes of course. Saying Pasha is 'undoubtably' (probably spelled that wrong ) the most creative Freerunner on the planet is a bit too much in my opinion. but hey, "the best" is an opinion based on the viewer so i dont judge you. i personally think there is no best, there is just well rounded and different. would have loved to see more internationals and also more women here, but that could be another video aswell :)

I think it's unbelievable how Endijs is not in this top 10 list. He has arguably the best technique and precision for pure parkour and he is so well rounded with his power on bars and with his flow.
@ronicavalcante9685
@ronicavalcante9685 3 жыл бұрын
@@danielboot4362 I thought the same! I love endijs and he is one of my favorites... But it goes beyond that. The thing is he included mostly UK free freerunners and no womens...big mistake
@danielboot4362
@danielboot4362 3 жыл бұрын
@@ronicavalcante9685 Yep, definitely very UK focused, not the athletes he listed are bad, but generally speaking I don't like top 10 lists, because parkour is very broad and I think there are 30 to 40 exceptional athletes in the world, all with their own focuses and talents. I also agree that there are so many good female athletes at the moment. I suppose that could be a top 10 video on its own, but yea... Giving attention and praise to only 10 athletes (and most of them from the UK) doesn't paint a full picture of parkour and how different people from different countries view and practice it. Nothing wrong with the video, but it presents a very narrow view of a sport that derives its beauty from a broad set of movements and cultures. Also where's Bob Reese, he's insanely creative and clean.

One of my favourites as well is Pedro Salgado. Clean, simple, explosive. Not much flipping but he has some cool lines in nature, but mostly just looks like one of those guys with gravity hacks and big strides.

Suggestion: You could make a video on disabled freerunners and traceurs. I feel like guys like Ihab Yassin and Ruben Roldan deserve more credit and make for interesting cases since nobody can easily teach those guys. They have to reinvent some of the moves to fit with their bodies. Nice video btw!

My top 10 in no particular order: - Dom tomato - Endijs - Callum Powell - Bob Reese - George McGowan - Jason Paul - Joe Scandrett - Calen Chan - Toby Segar - Joseph Henderson It is so hard to say who is the best, everyone has such a unique style that cannot be categorised.
