@@poppyseeds439 we actually start learning French at 9 (we're from the dutch speaking part), English at 12 and German at 14. At university I had 2 years where I could chose between German and Spanish. Languages are really important for us, as we're a small country involved in international trade a lot and we have 3 official languages in our nation. I can see why it would be less critical in the US.

If you want to see beautiful architecture and eat well, come to Uzès in the Gard (South), you will be next to the pont du gard on 5 minutes, there is also the Haribo factory, there is the beer of Uzès which is called Meduz, and a whole bunch of typical Provençal foods, there is also the market on Saturdays etc. it's really worth it

Hi guys! I am from Paris and I really enjoyed your video! You truly showed the best of our cuisine! The pastas that came with the Boeuf Bourguignon are "coquillettes". These are very popular pastas in France! If you are fans of pastries, I higly recommend the "Paris-Brest" and the "Opéra" which are typical French pastries, I am sure you will love it!!

I was in Paris for 3 weeks in November--thank God for the timing, because now things are shutting down again. It was great to see the city full of life and love, with a minimum of tourists. One pastry that you used to see more often is Salambo, very similar to an éclair, but "chubbier" with a crème pâtissière filling and a dusting of chocolate sprinkles on one end. I only saw it once during my last visit.

I truly enjoyed this vlog!!! Can you go to Lyon next? It is famous for its gastronomy and has been named “The Gastronomic Capital of the World” since 1935. I dont know why not alot of food vlogs are made for this city ... everyone seems to focus on Paris but Lyon is were the food is!!!
@Sayitlikitiz1013 жыл бұрын
I second that: Paris is amazing in so many ways, including for its gastronomy, but Lyon is the culinary capital of France. And with less than 2 million inhabitants, a much easier city to visit for those who've already been to Paris. You can even hop there from Paris on a high-speed train in less than 2h and for less than €25. Go visit!

(1) Nowaday "Éclair", "Croissant" and "Pain au chocolat" can find in worldwide french bakery ! (2) "Croissant" and "Pain au chocolat" are well known in worldwide for france's bakery, but in fact all french people know "Croissant" and "Pain au chocolat" aren't french, they are Austrian introduced to France from the period of the last Queen of France "Marie Antoinette" ! This is why french people call it in the category "Viennoiserie" ! (3) "Fondue Savoyarde" is not only in France, there is in Switzerland too with other name !

@NaickKim This "croissants aren't french" take is beginning to be a bit tiring... Here : "“The croissant began as the Austrian kipfel but became French the moment people began to make it with puffed pastry, which is a French innovation,” says Chevallier. “It has fully taken root in its adopted land.” Order a kipfel in Austria or Germany today and you’ll likely be handed a crescent-shaped cookie." Not the same name, not the same dough, not the same taste... The only thing kipfel and croissant have in common is the shape. So yeah, if think it's fair enough to recognize croissants are french 🌷
@youpihat Жыл бұрын
@@marette2845 Thank you so much ! But the moment people began to make it with puffed pastry was in what period of time in french history ? When Marie Antoinnette brought "Les Viennoiseries" to France, were they all 100% same as in Austria and until today !

Kim's sound at the very beginning of this video is the universal seal of approval for good food. Looks like these frog legs are finger licking good, hopefully you didn't say it tastes like chicken! Like Bronsolino would say : "Fnck, that's delicious!" BTW crêpes are more specifically Breton rather than more globally French, just like choucroute (sauerkraut) is Alsacienne, even if you can find good versions elsewhere in France, or even almost anywhere in the world : crêpes ingredients are very basic (floor, sugar, butter, sunflower oil, eggs and optionally rhum (French sugar cane spirit), cachaça or rum (molasses spirit)) and you can find very good canned choucroutes in "world food" sections of supermarkets.

@@arg888 If you're looking for good French food at a cheaper price than a restaurant but (almost) as good, you can consider some high quality canned meals (plats cuisinés) like cassoulet, choucroute, saucisses aux lentilles or potée. I think you can find these meals on Amazon, Costco or any supermarket that has a decent world food section. You just have to heat them in a saucepan or in an oven, and voilà! You have a taste of France.

Eating bone marrow as an appetiser is not frequent, but eating it as part of the meal is quite common in the "pot au feu" : the butcher who sells the meat often offers those too if you mention you're doing a "pot-au-feu" ;) as for frog legs, it is not a common meal (snails are not that common either) mainly because it's very expensive, more and more difficult to find and have been out of fashion for a while now.
@hori1663 жыл бұрын
@ 8:46 The main reason why it's great to walk around Paris and why it's so beautiful (in spite of the filthy streets) is that the buildings are limited to 5 stories, and there is a continuity of architectural style, e.g. Mansard roofs--a human scale which creates a sense of proportion and comfort. Compare that with skyscrapers where you feel like you're at the bottom of a canyon. OMG L'Artisan Boulanger is on the fringe of Paris!
