I love the Mad max video game at ps4, it tells the story what the movies didn’t, and is a great honor for the movies in my opinion. It’s more fun than I ever would believe! The movies were and still are my favorite ones, the mad max 1 was banned here in Finland at the 80’s and 90’s and I got it (around 1995-1996) as a vhs copy from imported usa version, without any subtitles, but as a ~8y old kid it didn’t matter! It just lit up my mind for learning English, so there is a massive positive effect also from that aspect to me. 🙂 And the storylines are still getting me into tears, allways has been. I just wish I could live that live in real life. It would be so damn awesome compared to today’s world.. No need for ”apocalyptic” survival has made the human race weak and controllable. In a negative way.

Needs to be on the list: the scene where the main character from "Short Time" is fearlessly chasing the superviolent bad-guys in his unmarked Dodge Diplomat police sedan. He thinks he's terminally ill and he therefore thinks unless he dies 'not in the line of duty' his family ( who feels terrible about neglecting for his job as a hard-nosed police detective ) will not receive his insurance policy benefits. The whole notion, along with his intensity while chasing the bad-guys and mocking them for not stopping him with their automatic weapons, and how that Diplomat keeps on the bad-guys while it is nearly destroyed in the chase....it's all hilarious and the stunt sequence is fantastic! Printed ads for movies back then had quotes from film critics, and while I don't recall the critic's name, one of the quotes was something like, 'The final chase scene in Road Warrior makes the chariot race in Ben Hur look like a square dance!' After seeing 'Road Warrior' as a young kid, that quote was NOT just someone's opinion...

It's April 2020, if you are stuck at home like I am, you are bored and watching things like this. There was a movie called "Short Time". Technically it was put out in 1990, but it was filmed in Vancouver Canada in 1989. The car chase is on youtube. It's amazing nobody died in the making of it. It's worth the watch. You're welcome haha

For your eyes only, the car chase with one Citroën 2CV and two Peugeot 504. Is a classic.

Blues Brothers Deserved #1 on this list simply on the fact that it actually included TWO epic chases but also because of the shear epic level of DAMAGE caused by the Police Themselves.

Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.

I know that it wasn't the 80's, so I am glad that you mentioned: The French Connection car chase scene! Also, I loved the Mad Max movies too! AWESOME CAR CHASE SCENE jn The Road Warrior!

I just looked up the release date of my favorite car chase and as I was watching I seriously hoped it would make the list, but it was 1990. The movie is Short Time with Dabney Coleman. The scene may not have the volume of cars that the Blues Brothers has, but the sheer brutality and humor in context is fantastic and still may be worthy of this list (if they'd only released it just a few months earlier).

100% agreed, just how destroyed the car gets is insane, the trailer is more than 1/2 car chase Also of note from the same year is wheels of terror with Joanna Cassidy, the entire last act is a car chase

All I have to say is that The Blues Brothers should’ve made it to the top 3. Great list though! ;)

Em 2:38 aquele carro do filme Stallone Cobra era a coisa mais linda que eu tinha visto na vida. Queria muito ter este carro. Me deu uma pena vê-lo destruido durante o filme.

Miami Vice "Bought and Paid For." The chase with the Countach 5000S and the 365 Daytona (McBurnie kit car) running down the streets of Miami. It's not a movie but a series and it was in the 80's.....it's iconic and the noise of that V-12....WOW!!!
