I think for #1 spot it should of been Black Sabbath/Heaven&Hell since they were the same band but, different singer/drummer. Motörhead does RULE, Iron Maiden RULES, Black Sabbath RULES but, if Black Sabbath rules then Heaven&Hell RULES also.... Now if they were going to do top Rock Bands, RJD's Rainbow would be #1 or #2. Queen/The Headcats would be on there.

IF you were to take TONY IOMMI out of the picture of BLACK SABBATH ,his sound ,guitar playing, and all around creative ability with his guitar ,I feel there would be no list of TOP 10 heavy metal bands. Bands like Queen and Motörhead added speed to it, while others like Mettalica and Slayer incorporated double bass drumming and shredding into the genre.

Just because they created it does not mean they are the best at it. And, hate to burst your bubble, but there are bands that people consider metal that were made before Black Sabbath. Judas Priest and Scorpions, for a couple (Scorpions' musical style ranges from hard rock to heavy metal, I say that counts, others might have differing opinions; that is fine; pretty much everyone agrees that Judas Priest is a metal band so I will not argue for their case in this). Black Sabbath brought it into the mainstream, but bands like Iron Maiden and Motorhead would have done the same.

Maiden has never released an album that can be considered trash, and that's out of 16 albums over 43 years of being active. Their 80's albums, especially those with Dickinson, are among the greatest albums of all time. I can't think of an argument for why any band other than Maiden would be the greatest metal band ever.
