Thanks for including Barefoot Desert, such an underrated track, and nice bassline by Cookie! Gumboot has some of the best basslines.

for all the crazy odd meter and polyrhythm stuff in motu and poly, the simpler 7/4 spread throughout nonagon not only ties it together but also gives off a wonkier sci-fi feel to an otherwise not that unusual gizz record. maybe that's why it's kind of the ultimate gizz record (as in pretty much everyone loves it), it mixes and showcases so many of their strengths.

Oh hell yes. The entirety of Mind Fuzz's riff melts my damn brain.

It’s not from the 80s, and it’s not relevant to the question, but do you know Lucas Skinner from King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard?

I absolutely love Progressive Rock but this band has failed to get my appreciation for their music. Great musician's! Don't get me wrong! But, they aren't playing anything that's near as listenable as say, Spock's Beard, IQ, KINO, OSI, Porcupine Tree, etc.

They're defective their own thing for sure. They're my favorite band but I also came from the punk scene so maybe it was easier for me to appreciate them

I would say they have a more garage rock/ psychdelic rock vibe than a straight up prog band, even though some albums have quite a bit of prog influence. I even remember an interview where one of them says they like to capture the garage rock vibe, where the songs are so easy to play you just wanna grab your instrument and play right away(even though sometimes they do more complicated things... specially on bass and drums). That is pretty different to the overrall prog spirit.
