After you do the first pour to lay the base, is it generally a bad idea to swirl your milk after that? I’ve tried doing that occasionally, and it always seems to result in me getting no design. But with my amateur skills it could be due to other factors and just a coincidence that those pours were a fail. I just have had this gut instinct that maybe re-incorporating the milk will help me lay down a better design but maybe that’s not true?
@LanceHedrick3 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Swirling after separates the foam a bit. People do this who are trying to do dry foam technique. I wouldn't recommend for flow technique

Great videos! I’d love to see the intersection between this and the Decent review, Yeah, you can make latte art with most anything, but I would imagine that the experience of steaming milk would be totally different than a Linea Mini. The LM streams quickly, which requires skill, but it can be done while pulling a shot, which is efficient. The Decent requires two steps and it steams slowly. But is is more forgiving, or just frustratingly slow? Just because you *can* make latte art with anything doesn’t mean that it’s enjoyable or easy to do consistently well. Really curious how the steaming feels on the Decent in real life - and if the high power version would be worthwhile.
@LanceHedrick3 жыл бұрын
Well, sure. I guess I'm just not picky. Steaming milk is second nature to me, so I kind of zone out when doing it. For me, steaming on something like a linea I guess would be "most enjoyable" because it is the quickest. But, I'm not picky. As long as the final result is awesome, I'm a happy camper. And, good for me, most every steam wand I've ever touched can make good microfoam that is tasty and integrates well with espresso. Everything outside of that is preferential fodder. As for the decent, it steams well. Quite quick- quicker than the Breville dual boiler, and the like.

Thanks, that was great. I'd love to see some tutorials on latte art in smaller cups and how to deal with that environment!
Secret to those is essentially pouring quickly. I've got some old take away pour videos on my IG. Just need to take into consideration that you won't be able to get a consistent canvas until the cup is about 3/4 full. Considering concretization, you need to pour quickly to beat the hardening.
@adaz2403 жыл бұрын
