This is a solid list! I had a crazy experience with a cherry shrimp just recently. I feel like they are 10x tougher than we give them credit for sometimes. A while ago I dry started a tank and let it run for about 5 weeks. After 5 weeks I flooded the tank. I seeded it with some bacteria from another tank and put 4 shrimp in. (Culls from a colony) After about 3 weeks I had an issue with hair algae so I took 3 shrimp out and drained the tank back to nothing maybe a few millimetres of water on the base of the Monte Carlo. Whatever was left in the base I couldn't vacuum out basically. I couldn't find the shrimp, so I presumed it was dead...Fast forward another 3 or 4 weeks (can't remember how long) I reflooded the tank again and that one solo shrimp is alive, well, and having the time of his life again.... The crazy part is that I thought it was dead and didn't even use and water conditioner in the tank. He's been going for nearly a week since reflooding... On top of all that we went from 20c outside to -7c so the internal temps in the house have changed a fair bit as well. I'm probably not going to bother drip-acclimating anything from my colony again after seeing this beast in action!

🤣🤣 goes to show how bulletproof they are
@Jess-on-the-Tube Жыл бұрын
They are pretty darn tough, but from my perspective the drip-acclimation is to reduce the chance of molting issues - which mostly aren't going to happen anyway, unless your shrimp are large and the timing is unlucky... But there's the rub!

I have had to euthenise my 2 swimmers. A Blackmoor called lill Doots and Cecillia, a golden fat bodied village tailed fancy. 😢I am in bits, 9 years of loving my goodies. If I'd have been given the right anyi bionics for them and got my indoor pond built, they still my have not survived but I reckon now, today, without them after crying, I don't cry easily. Cecilia loved the guitar. They have been my aquarium babies for 9 years. It breaks your bleeding heart even you try and fail m8. I sm just going to get everything cleared up, then keep s bloody yortoise! Nooooo. Yes, because a vivarium is better than a djithole aquarium. I will do a planted aquarium see cos I do not waste plants. So I was, was thinking of neon tetras. In a while. Or are they crap yo keep you? The smallest gish as an aquarium fish. I've looked after fish. In Wales. I sm 55 years old. I just am do upset that in the end, a fish needs constant fresh water through his her gills. So easier yo keep a tortoise. I do live my babies and am not ever going yo adopt avwater puppy, as in fancy holdfish ever again. They are suicidal. Happy gor s few years then bang illnesses and either this comes consistent worry guilt everything miserable in our lives. At least neon tetras love loads of plants, and in s few weeks I suppose I will end ip with 6 pets hor homes neon tetras. Oh even will I ever learn. I love them. But naaah. ❤

I prefer the clown pleco to the bristlenosed pleco. They stay small and better algae eaters, plus they are way more hardy when it comes to water parameters.

The one type of fish that I just cannot keep alive is a betta. I have had 3 plakats in row kept in a 55L, none lasting more than about 6 months.. Considering all the other fish I keep in various tanks are breeding and/or more than 3 years old, I gave up on bettas. Cherry barbs would be on my list too. I have a few that are getting near 6 years old and still going strong.

Idk bout the heat thing with plecos, I know Florida in the U.S has millions of invasive plecos all over their waterways. It's pretty insane lol. I guess they've just adapted to it over time, though.

Thats common plecos, im sure they have invasive bristlenose as well but then again depending on the volume the water temp could still be cooler than you think

Tiger barbs are a good call but I decided to just choose one barb otherwise the lisy couldge easily been tiger barbs, 5 lined barbs, ruby barbs, rosy barbs, cherry barbs, odessa barbs, ticto barbs, gold barbs and at that point its a top 10 barb video 😄

@ExamineeNumber0052 Жыл бұрын
@@BlakesAquatics Yeah bro. I mean here in the Philippines when kids caught Climbing Perch during floods, they just keep them on jars without even giving the fish any food. Ofcourse they're not doing it on purpose, they just didn't know how to take care of fishes. And yet the Climbing perch survives for many months even years. But the question is, Are climbing perch considered an Aquarium fish in the hobby ? Coz I doubt any petshop sell them. You can only catch them in the wild.
