Thank you! Lange 1 is a great watch, as is the Pasha but I'm not sure I give them the iconic status quite yet. I think they are still too recent a release to determine if the are iconic. I think a watch has to be out at least 40-50 years to determine whether it is an icon or not. Just my opinion but both are amazing timepieces! Glad you enjoyed this 🙏

Some of these watches became iconic in recent modern times with collectors. The Santos was over shadowed by the Tank. Patek Philippe was only known to wealthy people. The El Primero was known once it was known the Rolex Daytona used a Zenith movement. Panerai was widely known to the watch community once Sylvester Stallone and his celebrity friends started the PAM hype of the late 90’s. Rolex biggest icons are the Day Date and Date Just. The Submariners were not the go to Rolex watches back before 1990. The Daytona is a desirable watch that was once an unwanted watch until Italian magazines hyped and made it fashionable to wear a vintage Daytona.

Yes all true! Icon statuses can change over time. They are very fluid in nature, a list from today vs one that is 20-30 years old will definitely vary. Based on the standards of today these are the 10 I'd list as most iconic

got my 39mm with the white dial on the 3-link "Bader" bracelet watch on AMZWATCH 3 weeks ago and am loving it to pieces. Absolute fantastic watch that wears super comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. Chose the 3-link over the 5-link bracelet for the toolless quick adjustment. Way more comfortable than my Longines Hydroconquest 41 mm.

I agree with almost everything on your list. I would substitute the Nautilis for the perpetual calendar and as far as the El Primero goes, no doubt it is a historical and iconic movement. However, I just can’t seem to connect with that watch. I have owned two of them and I had to sell them both. Iconic movement, but the watch itself I think leaves a little to be desired. Lastly, I agree with you about the ROLEX Daytona. It may be controversial, but I would substitute the Cartier tank. As far as iconic goes, I don’t think you can argue the history. Very good video thank you.

I think that’s a fair list. I would have maybe nixed the Zenith and added a Breguet just based on the fact that I think Zenith is more known for the Daytona movement and not the El Primero. Still, tough to argue any of your choices. Canada 🇨🇦 loves you Marco.

A decent list. Vacheron Constantine Historique and Breguet Classique would have made my list. I'd wish to include watches by Lange and F.P. Journe as well, although they're fairly recent. The Lange watch with the asymmetric dials is an absolute classic. Then again, "iconic" and "best" are not necessarily synonymous.

I agree with your list. And in fact almost all of them (8 out of 10) are in my collection. Obviously something may have been left out, but if the selection has to be 10 pieces, something important can only be left out. The only criticism is that imho a Breguet, considering the history of Breguet, it was necessary to mention it, even if today the market does not value the maison enough

A couple of choices that you might have missed in my opinion; 1. Cartier Tank Louis which is the dress watch. 2. Patek Philippe Calatrava which Patek built its whole empire in the twentieth century thanks to it.

References like 3119, 5119, and the latest reference which is 6119 is as important or maybe more important in Patek survival as the Stern family acquired the company in the early 20th century.

Great picks. Since you didn’t want to put the Daytona on (and given that it underperformed for Rolex for a long time that would have been understandable) I think you should have added the Nautilus or Aquanaut. Patek certainly rates a 2nd watch. 🤝 about the GMT Master II being the best Rolex offering. Need the 4th hand for business. I think videos tracing the history of some famous watches would be interesting.

Some people especially Daytona fans aren't gonna like this but if it weren't for the hype, the GMT and the Navitimer are more iconic. The modern GMT and Navitimer still bear a striking resemblance with the earliest vintage models whereas the modern Daytona look like an entirely different watch compared to the early vintage ones. Also retailers initially struggling to sell the Daytona prior to the 1990s it was not a popular model.

Well....I have all but 2.5 of the watches you mentioned. The 0.5 meaning that I got a Calatrava, not the pc/chrono one. The other 1 is the Rolex GMT. Not a huge fan of the cyclops. I own 1 cyclops in my collection of 85 watches. But I can see where you get the GMT from. Just one year after the sub was released. And yes, I totally agree with you on the Daytona....if it was not for Paul Newman, nobody would give a sh*t about the watch. I don't have this and I will never add this in my collection. I am sure other have chimed in....Blancpain-50 Phatoms, Cartier-Tank, Breitling-Navitimer, Heuer-Monaco, IWC-Portuguese, Breguet-Classic or Type XX, Bvlgari-Oct Finnissimo, ALS-Lange 1, Marathon-GSAR, Bulova-Accutron, God knows what else...I could go on and on... Nice Top 10 Most Iconic Watches Of All Time Marco. But I would not have included 3 Rolexes.... That is 30% of this review...which in actuality makes up about what the Rolex market is....so I guess you were right Marco....🤣🤣🤣

Another fantastic list - just one thing to address like the last list for me thou;; Zenith El Primero - an important watch, but 'iconic' - I'm on the fence with this one. Could a low price point brand be included on this list? I was thinking Swatch and/or Casio/G-Shock.

You mentioned the Rolex Sub and the Blancpain 50, however, you did NOT mention the Zodiac Sea Wolf as part of the trio. When first introduced in 1953, the Zodiac was right there with both Rolex and Blancpain.

Amazing. Yes, the Sub, the Speedy, the Reverso..But where is the Breguet Reine de Naples, the first wriswatch ordered by Caroline Bonaparte ? Where is the Seiko Astron, mother of all quartzwatches ? Where is the cheap Swatch watch that everyone knows and rescued Swiss watches ? Where is the Casio G Shock, the Apple Watch ? I am afraid a Royal Oak or a GMT Master 2 are highly exclusive luxury, but not icons. The Swatch watch is a more iconic watch I guess.

Disagree it was especially designed as a pilot's watch to track timezones. The 4-hander, bi-color and bi-directional bezel have been feature since the 1950s. Also the design has largely remained the same since 70 years ago.

Saying daytona is a failure is a bit rushed because I think it is kind of good and the unscrew pushers is a quick action not that you need so much time . And the race to the moon they lost because omega paid for that as it was already proven

The Tag Heuer Monaco lacks in the list. That PF is not one of the top ten icons, actually they don't have one. They have many good watches, but none for this. The Panerai Luminor is not one of the ten. I own one and is not in my ten favorite watches. There's IWCs that occupy that place easily. Finally the Zenith Chronograph doesn't deserve to be on that list. Sure the movement is cool but the watch in itself is not as cool as a Carrera which is full of motor racing memories. If two Heuer would be too much - I think I would go with the Monaco better - I would consider a Navytimer.
