Meermin is the best bang for buck value shoes out there. They are comparable to Carmina and the only difference is that Meermin outsource most of their labor to cut cost and they're very honest about such fact. Great video and reasonable list. Spanish brands are amongst the best in the World. I can guarantee. Both: 1. From best price/quality ratio (bang for your buck: Cobbler Union, Crownhill, Tallsem, Lottusse, Meermin, Berwick, Yanko, TLB Mallorca, Carmina, etc.) 2. To the most exclusive and expensive ones (Manolo Blahnik, Magrit, Pura López, Ballerinas, etc.) Plus many highly rated & priced foreign brands (mostly English) do actually order their production in Spain.

I'd put Carlos Santos on this list. I know they're on your other list, but they should move like 5 spaces on list for their handgrade line and the patina service should be on this list because it's well under $300. The CS chelsea boot for under $300 is the most beautiful boot I've seen. I got an oxford in wine shadow and it's awesome.
@thscful2 жыл бұрын
do you find a major diff between the handgrade and non-handgrade line? If so, where is the diff most noticeable? I find their handgrade line colour options are quite limited.
@CJ2345ish2 жыл бұрын
@@thscful This comment is a little dated because the patina program was nearly $260 when I made this comment, but it's like $325 now I think and I do own a pair of shoes from both. The patina program is nice because of how custom it is and what you can really get if you want. However, I do really like the handgrade line more. I think the handgrade line has better leather that creases better and the color fades better. I love my patina program oxfords because they look beautiful and they break in well, but the leather I don't think polishes as well, ages as well, or breaks in as well as the handgrade line. Also, the extra details on a handgrade shoe make up some of the difference. It does have a closed channel sole and nicely finished sole too. I think both are well worth the money, but no question the handgrade is a better shoe imo. I do agree handgrade line does have more limited styles and that does impact what you can get, but the styles are beautiful still. I would recommend patina program if none of the styles are "I need it" in your view

Solid. Most of the presented offerings do not have 3E widths. I went to each page as those shoes looked really nice. Meermin does, however, they have not expanded it beyond 4 shoes and now only two styles are available from them for me. If possible could you do a shoe video for the 10-15% of the shoe lovers who have limited choices due to foot width? I'm a huge fan of closed lacing systems but that is also a challenge to achieve closure without going bespoke. Other than the few offerings from Meermin I have only found Allen Edmonds offering 3E widths across almost all of their shoes. But AE does not make the best looking shoes yet they are in my rotation do limited choices.

@@markallenwilliams leather quality is wildly inconsistent and the product after only a few wears looks about 5 years old. The Double monk buckles are horrid and because of their poor design the leather strap that goes through them is tearing. The heel block rubber is about as durable as as an eraser and it's actually so bad that is being squashed out from under the leather piece that covers half the heel. I could go on, there's plenty more.....

The quality control can definitely use some help. My older Meermin shoes broke in nicely but I understand what you mean. As far as the toe cap not aligning, that can be annoying. @zschambill5 жыл бұрын
Vladimir Riché I’m sticking to Allen Edmonds now, their 65 last fits my feet the best compared to lasts from other brands I’ve tried or owned. Occasionally I wear Italian shoes (Gucci loafer and a brand called Campanile). While I enjoy the soft leather normally used on Italian shoes, I find the thin soles on them lack support and hence canny really provide me with all day comfort while walking in them. So, AE for price, quality and comfort balance.

I have a pair of suede chukkas from Myrqvist. They have fantastic customer service and really do make an exceptional product. I believe it's the only shoe on this list with a real leather heel stack instead of leather board. I'm super happy with those shoes
@v_r_5 жыл бұрын
I don’t know a lot of guys personally that own the brand but I’ve heard a lot of good things about them. I’m glad that they’re working for you. I didn’t realize that about the heel stack so that’s good info. Thanks for watching!

I have 2E to 3E wide foot...is there a short list of what companies carry wide feet?

What do you think of mezlan and magnnani shoes.
@v_r_5 жыл бұрын
Hey Horace, Mezlan shoes just don’t look attractive to my eyes. I feel like there’s too much going on with them for the most part. Magnanni, I’m more familiar with as I used to sell them a long time ago when I worked in t Menswear industry. I feel like there are way better Goodyear welted options at the same price point or lower. At this point, I wouldn’t recommend those brands over the ones that I’ve mentioned.

Will you do a video on silk and wool blend suits?

Hey Reddrick, I never really thought about that one.

All those Spanish and Portuguese brands... Not commonly known outside of Europe. You're a true connoisseur, Sir! Hey, add me to the fabulous pre-1K subscribers! 😄

What’s up, Mikal? I’m just trying to shed some light on some of these brands that most of my American friends have never heard of. And welcome aboard cause it looks like that pre-1k train is leaving the station soon 😂😂

good video for the casuals. They also ought to know that shoe trees are a must. Also shoe cream instead of wax most times to keep the kicks fresh.

Spot on on those recommendation. I live in Europe and I have most of the shoes on most of the brands you've mentioned. I ended up with multiple pairs of Loake and Meermin. Few more brands to add to the list; Barker, Grenson, Cheaney, etc.
@v_r_5 жыл бұрын
Hey Paul, thanks for watching. I want to try Loake as I’ve heard really good things but they don’t ship to the US for some reason.
@seanjean9415 жыл бұрын
@@v_r_ Maybe MyUs.com could do a UK-US delivery or any other site. By the way, I wanted to buy Becket Simonon, Cobbler Union or Thursday but won't send to EU. Or if it would then the taxes are astronomical. With the taxes and all then it's better off getting Carmina instead.
@v_r_5 жыл бұрын
Carmina is really growing and have a lot of stores in many different countries. Great choice!

It’s a nice tie, I’m glad you like it. Ties and pocket squares are my weakness. And shoes...and suits LOL
@bellyhungry5 жыл бұрын
@@v_r_ My biggest weakness is shoes/boots. The whole spectrum of them - from White's/Red Wing/Viberg/RM Williams to Alden/AE/C&J/Meermin to high fashion SLP. :) PS: I love the vibe of your videos.

Thank you, bro. And I need to step up my boots game. I’m severely lacking in that department.
