@DeyaViews3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's good and descriptive! I am actually kind of annoyed that it got translated here as "Take 5!" which still kinda fits (you take five cards when you place the 6th), but it changes the meaning from the meaning of the original in a significant way. Plus there are other games called Take 5, so it's confusing.

@Stephen, you shouldn't complain about titles in a language you don't understand. "Schottentotten" is a play on "Schotton" and "Hottentotten" (a word that is a bit problematic, but that's beside the point). "6 Nimmt" doesn't mean "Take 6", but "6 Takes", as in the player who places the 6th card has to take all cards.

I think Bus Route is boring and really, we should all be able to agree that it's too dry a title for what that game is... but I think the appeal of "Let's Make a Bus Route" is partly that it falls into the format of a Japanese phrase with a stilted sounding English translation and there's a fair amount of charm there for a lot of people. I'm sorry but I know nothing about quilting and yet I looked at that box and immediately said, "Clearly 'Calico' must be a quilting term." Even if that wasn't enough of a clue, the game has various cat breeds, most of which you don't even use in a game. So if you are sitting there and all you see are tabbies, you SHOULD think, "Oh, MAYBE the name isn't referring to a cat." Furthermore, the game is 100% about quilting, it's not about the cats. You only get a cat if the quilting is done correctly. To say it's about cats is like saying it's about the buttons. Sadly, Button probably would've been a better name because people would've just thought the cat's name was Button. Yes, this annoys me and I don't know why. That said, the publishers sure didn't help things by not including anything in the rules about what 'Calico' actually refers to. Yes, some of us have the ability to acknowledge visual clues and can work Google, but still...
