You have no idea how much I agree with you! I was born in 1973, and I had the opportunity in my life to have GOLF 1 GTI, 2 diesel,, 4;TDI / GTI,, Touareg V10 TDI, BMW 3 and 5, MB; C270 CDI, FORD Escort XR3i, etc. They Are All Bull Shit! In 2014 I had total damage to my V50 R5, I went out as if nothing had happened. Now I have a V50 D2, not very lucky as far as the engine is concerned, but I hope to find a V50 D4 R-design, there are not many of them in the EU and whoever has one, does not sell it! Greetings from Croatia.

One professional question. What spacers for rims should be put on P1, V50?
@MyNameIdeasWereTaken11 ай бұрын
As far as brand is concerned, you get what you pay for. I have had both successes and failures with cheap spacers, as the quality issue is that they may not be balanced. Garage Line and H&R are both reputable brands and should always be good. Make sure you get something that is hubcentric. With a 5mm spacer, you can keep the stock studs. Any larger, and you'll want longer studs. For 15mm or larger, you can get spacers that have studs pressed in. I prefer these, as they are bolt on and easily reversible if you have any problems. As far as size is concerned, that's entirely up to your desired stance, ride height, camber, wheel specs, tire size, etc.

Greatly edited video! Im finally modding my 2006 c30 t5 (m66). Everything should be done in less than a month, i cant wait anymore! All im doing is watching c30 exhaust clips, performance and part videos / reviews, reading through forums and on and on... BSR-Chiptuning, bsr 3" downpipe with a sportcat, bsr sportsflow exhaust (Im from Germany), coilovers to put him low, and some wheel spacers. I will also add an anti-roll bar and so on. :) Since this is the first time that i will own a modified, fast and great sounding car, i will be the happiest man on earth, haha. Cheers!

We sold my son’s ‘06 S40 to a family member, and shortly after she got into a major accident. She was completely engulfed in airbags and curtains. First responders got her out with the Jaws of Life, unscathed. My Bimmer is the beast; the Volvo is everything else. 👍🏼

What is the aftermarket support like for Volvo? With "sharing" chassis with ford, can you use ford suspension components to upgrade handling?
@MyNameIdeasWereTaken3 жыл бұрын
Suspension components, you can use the Focus and Mazda3 parts, so there are good options. Though you'll want spring rates designed for the extra weight of the Volvo. For go-fast parts, there are only a few options. A lot of MkII RS and ST parts can be used, but still limited. For tuning, Hilton is the only company that I'd really trust these days.
@leftybender9125 Жыл бұрын
Wow I had no idea that these volvo's were built on the same chassis as the ford focus rs. And can someone confirm that the european version of the ford focus rs uses the same T5 engine as well. I was seaching stuff about the chassis and saw that. Still don't know if I believe it
@MyNameIdeasWereTaken Жыл бұрын
Yes, same block. Ford owned Volvo during their development of the MKII RS and used Volvo's engine as their base. However, the RS has a K16 turbo (Volvo uses the K04) and has some slightly stronger internals. But the block itself is identical and most of the bolt ons performance parts are the same. These Volvos were really underappreciated for what they were and the performance value that they offered to the US market. While the Focus RS was faster, the Volvo S40 and V50 could give you the same engine and chassis with AWD.

1. Screwed it up for the RHD market though by not moving the handbrake :( 2. Love it. 3. A P1 can, on stock turbo, put out more torque than a Lamborghini Gallardo. That's silly for a hatchback. 4. I think it's important to say that it sounds like a crossplane V10. Most people will listen to R8s, Gallardos, M5s with V10s and think it sounds nothing like a Volvo, but that's because they're flatplane crank. Put one next to a Viper and it's a whole other story. It took me a long time to realise this! 5. Yup. C30 in particular looks very modern. 6. Also it's pretty important to mention that everybody knows about fast old Volvo wagons too. If you see an 850 on the road there's like a 50% chance it's got 300bhp so you're not that surprised. The C30 is much more modern yet much less well known for being fast, so it's probably the best sleeper out of all Volvos. 7. Always said it's as much as a single or couple would really need. You can take 2 friends out for the evening or carry a load of stuff to the rubbish tip. You never really do both at the same time though. That said, the size of the opening is pretty bad, but if you want practicality that bad then, in the UK at least, you can go for the Mk2 Focus ST. 8. The Focus chassis is well known for being pretty heavy and Mk2 Focus STs are renowned for being fast in the straights and hella slow in the corners, but that's generally more down to the owners and bad modifications than anything. Done right the P1/C1 does handle really well and of course, being able to fit 255s under stock arches certainly helps! The Renaultsport Megane definitely takes the title for best handling chassis of that era though. Shame Renault isn't really a thing in the US as the Clio and Megane are both fantastic track cars and pure hot hatches. Calling a C30 a hot hatch is a bit dirty really, it's more like a mini GT. 9. Yeah, it's not such a massive issue for me but I appreciate it. 10. Love the stock shifter. Really nice to use. Bonus. I lock my lap belt using the ol' twist trick when racing which holds me in fine, but I only really do that for autosolo when throwing the car around on the handbrake. On track I don't really have any issue with them.
