I am not really an "Axe man" so I dont have many axes.. just a couple of duty use hardware store grade axes for camping/wood cutting.. and a few cheap M-Tech throwing tomahawks that I regret buying as I know they are cheap asf and they will break one day. I have always wanted a proper "Battle Axe" and I thought about getting one of the Cold Steel models.. but I am really more of a big knife/machete/sword guy - Axes are for Vikings. Great video Joe X!

The Estwing carpenter's hatchet is the best tool I have found has a hammer, nail pull, and a far better axe head than the other Estwings for work. Shame it doesn't come with a sheath. With that, a multitool, and a set of vise grips you have a surprisingly workable yet totally minimalist toolset for casual maintenance. You can swap that out for a Fiskars x7 if you have something like a gerber Centre Drive with a nail pull and those two are usually easier to find any place you are if you need to kit yourself or another person out who has no basics.

My trench hawk handle broke chopping snow and ice to get my car out of a snow bank. Good thing is the handle is cheap to replace but I was still surprised it broke. It also took a chip tot he edge throwing it at a board with a nail in it.
