For me the one collector's edition that I was so happy to get my hands on was Sonic Generations from 2011. It was packed of good stuff from a figurine of Modern and Classic Sonic, an art book, soundtrack from various Sonic games, a DVD on the creation of Sonic, and a metal gold plated ring on a blue velvet stand. It was well worth the money for me.

I don't have it myself, but Skyrim: Legendary Edition came with a statue of Alduin and a word wall, which the Alduin statue could sit on top of if you wanted it to. And of course, there's also the Halo 3 Limited Edition that came with the Master Chief helmet.

My favourite collectors edition is for Death Stranding. I absolutely LOVE the live size light up BB Pod. It's the coolest thing on my shelf. The briefcase is also very cool but the BB Pod stands out so much.

I remember walking into Gamestop, and heard the employee call up the Manager, with 2 PS4 GOW CE boxes in front of her, she called him up asking what to do with them because they were just found in the back- heard the Manager tell her put one aside for him- he claimed- she hangs up and I look at her staring at the extra, I said how much? "well the boss just took this one for free- and theirs no price- I'll sell it for $40" this was 2 months after release. walked out carrying that big box with a wide grin on my face

I really only spring on them for games I am already a superfan for or somehow get lucky and find one for cheap. I waited for almost 2 years for the Collectors Edition of God Of War (it has a couple less items than the stone mason version in the video) to go on clearance and I picked it up for about $40, the Kratos & Atreus statue made it absolutely worth that price. The main problem is really popular games you almost exclusively have to preorder as productions are usually quite low and resellers buy them up to make a profit since almost all sell out.

@D. Have you heard of Limited Run? Because their collectors editions are nowhere near the prices quoted here, and I'd say they're worth the difference from a standard game. Mostly, it's artbooks, steelbooks, soundtracks and posters, but going from $30 to $60 is a lot easier than $60 to $120. I don't really want any 12" figures in the first place, just junk that's going to lie around. I think they've hit on the right mix of items that people might actually use.

My favorite CE is for The Witcher 3. It came with a full sized Artbook containing commentary from the art team, a Compendium that contains a lot of the post Conjunction of Spheres history of the world, a small reference book that contains excerpts on all of the major players in the game, the Collector's Edition game guide, a School of the Wolf medallion, an awesome statue of Geralt fighting a griffon, and it all came in a box signed by the entire dev team with a little thank you note. It retailed for $150 and now goes for +$700

Athene was fairly nice for a virgin, but she still fucked up Arachne pretty bad (not that Arachne didn't deserve it). Among the more well known gods, there isn't one that wasn't an asshole at one point or another. I suppose you could dig into the second or third tier and find some that were humble, but any of the actual Olympians were pretty prickley.

I don’t think he should. If you’ve seen the video he made for his Persona 5 Completion, he spent YEARS trying to beat it with all of the confidant route endings. He’s said it nearly broke him. I always buy Megami Tensei collector's editions. They're sort of my "treat yourself" items, and one of my favorites is probably the Showtime Premium Edition for Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth. I was already getting an awesome game and one of the last physical 3DS games ever built, the but edition also came with a deck of cards, a pin set, an artbook, and oh yeah, a KORORMARU PLUSHIE! The bestest happiest doggo in all of gaming and thanks to that edition I now have him in mini-plush form. It's pretty rad.

Huge Darksiders fan so when Darksiders returned from the dead with the third game, I went all in on the Apocalypse edition with massive statues for the three appearing horsemen and the demonic salesman. Only dissappointment was how they decided to sculpt Death in a lackluster pose and in the starting rags of Darksiders 2 instead of any of the awesome gear he could get, or even the defualt armor he shows up in during Darksiders 3.

My two favorites are the Dishonored 2 and Skyrim. Corvo's mask and the signet ring make for great display pieces, as does Alduin on the draconic word wall. I even managed to get the Skyrim special edition for surprisingly cheap because I was gifted Skyrim for the wrong platform and had to go return it, where I found a much cheaper post-Christmas copy of the special edition.

My favorite Collector's Edition has to be the Ultimate Collector's Edition for Final Fantasy XV. I was gifted the money for it after I had a bit of a breakdown on FaceBook about getting the email for the waiting list, but being absolutely broke to where I couldn't even buy food, let alone the game. My mom saw my status and knowing how rough things were, paid for the edition as a combined birthday/Christmas/Easter present. It's been one of my most treasured parts of my collection ever since. The artbook, steelbooks showcasing the bros/playable cast of the game/movie/anime/soundtrack, and Play Arts Kai figure of Noctis with a special weapon exclusive to the UCE sit proudly displayed on my shelf, along with the gorgeous packaging that are artworks themselves. I'll treasure the FF XV UCE always and never get tired of it.

I worked an Arkham VR show for Rocksteady a while ago and was gifted the Arkham Knight statue. This thing was a huge mass of hollow plastic that was covered in molding imperfections and was a nightmare to keep clean. Following a break-in, somebody stole the statue and thus the obstacle was gone from my life forever. I like to think that the theif is now cursed with the same Batman affliction that plagued my living room previously.

CoD: MW2 Collectors edition was $150 and came with a working set of Night Vision Goggles in 2009. That was so cool as a kid and mine still work. One of the best collectors editions imo

I was actually at work when the Master Edition went up for preorder. I had been waiting for it all night, and kept checking my phone. My manager was a jackass so when he told me to put my phone away and get to work, I said “I have something more important I’m trying to do.” and so it proudly sits on my shelf. :)

My personal favourite is Red Dead Redemption 2 Collectors Edition. That whole package includes stuff right out of the game. The Metal Box with lock and key, the full Wheeler, Rawson & co. shop Catalogue, cigarette cards and Playing cards with artworks of members of van der Linde gang, red bandana, unique coin, treasure map and more. Makes you feel like your part of the game. A whole collection of art pieces. Easy nr. 1 for me.

Although not expensive, the Lego Games Collector's editions are always a fun nice thing. They come with the full Season Pass, a unique minifigure (which always end up being way more expensive), and an extra goodie.

My most prized collector's edition didn't even come with a fancy statue or anything. Just a double sided poster, some photographs, a steel book and an art book. But why I hold it so dear is that the Collector's Edition was the only way to secure a physical copy of the game and it was exclusive to one region. God bless you, Fatal Frame 5 collector's edition.

Well, we're hitting the ground running with a Jay Leno reference in the first second of the video, along with his god-tier chin. "Oh heyyy Jiroahd! So um... what kinda cuah do you droive?" Also, while I'm not too hot on big-time "collector's editions", I like it when physical copies of games come with "feelies", like what the Resi 7 box came with. Oh, and having a proper manual with some real personality and mechanics information, too.

I love the Collector’s Editions for the first four Jak and Daxter games for the PS4 (released by Limited Run Games). They each featured a mini-figure (like the Daxtermobile for Jak X), a poster, an art book, and their official soundtracks. As a huge Jak and Daxter fan, they filled me with glee.
