There is a quite old one, relatively unknown, called "Pro Libertate", with two campaigns, one set in Europe and one in the American Revolution. What was really great about it, was its handling of logistics. Never seen any game handling logistics so deeply. When playing as the rebels in both campaigns, you had to do raids against your opponents' supply chains, as you had very little chance in direct battles, due to being outnumbered and underequipped.

I like WDS games way better than any AEGOD game but probably considered tactics rather than strategy. Aegod is just too difficult to learn to play since their tutorials are crap.

Hmm 🤔Not sure if you could add Cossack games, AoE 3, and Eu3 or 4. Maybe the John Tiller games too (Which I would like to give it a try), what about naval games during that period? Anyway, ty for the video 👍

The John Tiller (now Wargame Design Studios) games are brilliant, especially the Napoleonic series. I have quite a few myself. Unfortunately, the AI is terrible and their email-based PvP option is totally obsolete.

@@generalk3n0b13 I enjoy them in a different way than I do Total War. The graphics, although constantly upgraded, basically depict a boardgame map and counters. But if a person is interested in military history, a lot will be learned when playing. The Tiller games are more or less military simulations of a battle or campaign, and incredibly well researched.

Cossack, AoE, Paradox games are just awful from a historicity and authenticity perspective. They are focused more on maintaining nonsensical genre or series conventions like birthing units and building farms in the middle of battle. John Tiller's / WDS games are much better, but mired by horrendous obsolete UI and outdated almost unusable graphics. Cavalry is extremely poorly implemented. But I will still say they are the best tactical simulators for Napoleonic Wars.

The AGEOD games are beautiful to look at but kinda boring after awhile since no battle animations or anything imho...

Well one of my favorites Musket Age Games is actually a century before this, 17th century,"""PIKE AND SHOT"""by Matrix, Has Pike but alot of Musketeers/Eastern European Haiduks Arquebus and Matchlocks,Thirty Years War is full of many battles and different armies, Ottoman/Russian/Swedish and Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth having unique Units,you can download different battles also going up to the Seven Years War. Ottoman Light Cavalry really a pain in the ass to defeat since they are very fast move more than any other units and Bow Arrow Missiles out range Muskets and cause alot of casualties more than Mass Musket Fire, you attack them with Heavy Cavalry they just run off far away near the edge of the map board ,hide and than come back and ambush your Infantry when you least expect it.The worst part of that game is when you launch an attack with your unit , you lose control of it and sometimes your unit keeps running after the enemy unit it broke only to suddenly get itself trapped and surrounded by other Steady Enemy Units than your Unit or Units get Broken and driven off the Battle Field.You can suddenly go from having only %5 of your Units Broken to the enemies %29 than all of sudden you lose %20 of your units just like that in a single turn. Seen somebody else had it a few years ago playing it on their site,possibly PopeJohnPaul""".

Pike & Shot is incredibly unrealistic. It does not even have leaders / officers, let alone deeper features like chain of command.

@@KK-fi6ms Yeah they do,when go to the Historical Icon or Download those Battles from other players like Klushino,Vienna , specially the Ottoman Christian Wars,has the names Commanders for like the Left Wing,Right Wing,Main Body and Overall Commander,just when using Skirmish or Campaign its omitted, pretty much know how realistic warfare is specially if you have many of the small arms weapons,I started collecting and buying them since age 12,of course first with Blackpowder.I have everything from Blackpowder to Single shot Semi to Full Auto SMG,LMG and HMG including Uniforms Accessories etc .Just take a look at the auctions coming up at Milestone in Ohio and Kraft in Indiana for January.Nothing can go better with Wargaming than having many of the weapons you see in the game. The most unrealistic is the accuracy/damage and sound effects and soldier /weapon companionship relationship which is inaccurate in Wargames.

@@Richard-s2n7c Having names makes no difference. Leadership plays no role in the gameplay like they did in battles historically. Even in Field of Glory 2, leaders are an afterthought. Leaders have no individual quality. Once the combat begins, you have to micromanage every unit. That whole series is just not at all realistic. We are talking about wargames here. I am not talking about "unrealistic" in the sense of accurate sound of weapons, but in how battles were commanded.

Is the ability to play either side a new thing for UG: American Revolution? Only being able to play the worthless traitors was a turn off for me for this game.
