Dear Jen, I have the same problem. It was initially caused by an epidural X-ray contrast called Pantopaque an and X-ray called a Myelogram (pre MRI days of 1977). The drug is poisonous to many patients and can cause Progressive Adhesive Arachnoiditis. This in turn causes daily extreme leg and lower back pain and in turn causes inter cranial pressure fluctuations and BP fluctuations. I was cured of the migraines as they were in fact caused by high BP. I had a laminectomy to fix my ruptured disk discovered by the neurosurgeon using the Myelogram. However the damage from Pantopaque was done. It’s incurable. I’m 68 and had it since 1977. Had many epidurals for anti inflammatory pain relief. I researched numbers of U.K. patients with chronic back pain post Pantopaque withdrawal for sale and numbers did not show significant decline. Many women have multiple children with epidural pain management. The spinal outer sheath is extremely sensitive so potentially epidurals are not as low risk as advertised. I used a continuous BP monitor to show my high BP / migraine episodes. These are now controlled. Arachnoiditis can cause many diverse and strange symptoms in a patients body. So if you have had a few epidural treatments a scan for Arachnoiditis or spinal scarring could help you more towards your full diagnosis. Good luck.

I've had migraines for 18 years, since I was 10. I've taken meds for them maybe 4 times. I'm lucky enough that a good 8 hours sleep resolves 99% of my migraines. Even if I spend several hours of agony trying to get to sleep. Either way, very excited to see nonmedical options getting discussed.

We just need to keep in mind that natural treatments are drugs as well. If you treat yourself with coffee, or the latest herb (like ginger, or garlic, or foxglove), know that you introduce a drug into your system. However, the dosage with herbs are much more complicated, as growing conditions can change the amount of whatever component is desired. And usually the herbs are not checked to see their composition (as prescription drugs do). Other than that, I really support the use of self treatments. Usually dosage is based on experiments conducted on very small subset of people (like, NON on women), and you need to adjust for your own body. And, the need to have a medical doctor oversight, is a real hindrance. Especially in the US (or so I understood). So yea. Use it, but be aware. And use common sense.

I appreciate this topic because I tend to have pretty much the most awful side effects from every medication, usually ones my doctor hasn't even heard of. It's to the point where I'm terrified to try anything else after Ajovy gave me gastroparesis. Question for you: I've been following your channel for a while and I love your content, but I really struggle to watch your videos because they're so bright. Have you ever considered also releasing darker versions of your videos, or some other way of having videos that aren't so bright? I really appreciate what you do and I want to support your channel. It's just hard to watch the videos even with my brightness turned way down. Anyway, keep being awesome and I hope you have a great weekend :-)

Hi Jen! What’s your thoughts on the Reed procedure for migraines? It’s pretty invasive but I’m curious if you have read up on it. Nature’s medicine still seems to be the best option.

Are you going to do an update on your CSF leak? Your channel was one of a few channels that I utilized when I first found out about mine. I would love to know how you are doing with that. I'm on my second blood patch now & slowly doing better. I'm trying to document it on my channel, but you're further along with that journey, so I'm wondering how your doing. Could you do an update? Thanks and have a great day! 😊

I will update the second I have one! I've been in limbo for the past 6 months flip flopping on my decision will be, so there hasn't been much to update you with 🫣 it'll all make sense once I'm out with it. With so many people following my journey, I try not to speak prematurely. I try to be stable in my own choice first. Hope you understand 💜💜💜

Aww sorry to hear that! My recent one felt like it blew around the new year. Spoiler alert, I am discontinuing leak treatment for now, going to focus on hypermobility and my neck and stable pressure overall. That's gonna be one of my next few videos.
@michellefixit7 ай бұрын
@MommingwithMigraine thanks! It's so frustrating that yours blew too. It's a shame to have a taste of almost normalcy and to have it taken away. I've been working on neck stability; I have CCI, hEDS, POTS, & a whole bag of randomness (that's not really so random). The Aspen collar has helped significantly, as well as salt pills, abdominal binders, heavily monitoring my caffeine intake, and well-timed lay down periods to "reboot." Prior to my patches, I was able to live my life on a well-timed timer for peak performance. As mothers, we have to work really hard to have our children be minimally impacted by our health issues. Thanks for the spoiler! I wish you luck with all that you're dealing with. I really look forward to not only your videos, but your successes as well. 😊

So what medication or treatment are you currently on for the IIH? Do you feel this treatment can work for both diagnosis? Thanks for sharing all this information.

One way to look at it is the brain pressure fluctuations are one of my migraine triggers. No meds; fixing diet + neck is how I manage my IIH now

I wish this video was titled "Top 3 Reasons to ADD Non-medication treatments to your migraine regimen" because there's nothing wrong with meds, and for many folks, that's their only option. In addition, most non-medication treatments work BEST when used in combination with medication. Just like medication works best when you take care of the non-medicine side too. Medicine is scary. It can have really intense side effects. However, it is an equally important option. And, in some cases, a better option than non-medicine treatments. Just like there are cases where non-medicine treatments are better than medicine. Talk to your doctor and make the best choice for you. A good doctor will listen and review all your options honestly.
