I can’t believe how many of y’all have never heard “nathan” used as the dramatic say to say “nothing” 😂😂 No different than saying “wanna” for want to! If y’all really think a COLLEGE EDUCATED, almost 30 year old woman doesn’t know how to spell “nothing”... 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️ You really pressed lol It’s clearly all fun... but DON’T TRY IT in these comments. Because I can really show you what this vocabulary can do if you like 🙃😂

I think all protective styles can be harmful if you don't know what you're doing. But I also think all protective styles can be beneficial if you DO know what you're doing. Even sew-ins. Why don't more women do sew-ins with hair that matches their natural texture so they don't have to mess with their leave out?
@FinallyAmber
@FinallyAmber 5 жыл бұрын
gigglyfitzgirl that would be the most practical. But honestly, even then, you’d had to manipulate that leave-out to keep it moisturized. I would suggest getting a full sew in that matches your natural hair ✊🏾❤️

I had somebody tell me a relaxer was a protective style, something along the lines that you get the new growth and while it grows in you not doing anything to the other hair but perming it and then once your hair grows you stop perming it and it’s fine. Sis, bless her heart.

Why is winter considered protective style season. Its the only time I can actually straighten my hair without it getting ruined by humidity and wear other styles I want. I live in Florida and there constantly humidity in the air, it makes my hair frizzy all the time. I look forward to winter just to wear my hair since there's no humidity. And don't even get me started on summers...its so hot that the last thing I want to do is deal with hair so that's an automatic braids/twists season for me.

I NEVER do a protective style starting at the roots. I twist or do single braids about half an inch from the roots. But I have loose roots and the rest is 3a/3b so it doesn't look different when I take it down. That's helped me sooooo much, now I'm close to waist length.

This is really interesting as to what protective styling means today. About 15 years ago, maybe longer the model wanakee used the term to mean protect the ends of your hair from the air and from rubbing against your clothing. She suggested oiling of the ends often then tuck them away. No splits meant healthier ends and you get payoff in length retention. This was way before the hair boards and a lot of relaxed ladies were burning and French rolling at that time. 😂some were even doing the baggy method to keep those ends moisturized and wore those bags under a phony pony. It was that serious. 😂

I'm not against wigs...I'm just against people wearing them because they are ashamed of their hair...if it's not the right curl pattern or not long enough...or not thick enough people throw a wig on it. If more people embraced their hair it would be nice. If you wear it because you just need a break from messing with your hair that's not a problem. My sister started rocking her cute bald head and I'm here for it. Loud and proud!

Two strand twist are my go to for the fall and winter. I can't or don't want to put a hat on a wash and go so I do that still and flat twist styles with two strand twist in the front. It's less manipulation and my hair grows a lot during that time. I got a lot of inspiration from 4aDaniels(unfortunately she has not posted a KZbin video since Feb 2017, hope she's ok) and mainly my girl Millicent Swift aka Naturally Michy.

Any style that's too tight can mess up your hair. If done right, box braids can protect your hair for a while, but it can also cause breakage at your roots/edges if it's too tight. Doing it as a crochet style takes less time and is not so heavy.
