As always, much respect to Don Don, keeping the sumo alive on KZbin. I'm glad Hoshoryu got a proper win in, especially against fellow Mongolian Kirishima. Onosato got his 33 wins for promotion to Ozeki. Well done.

Agreed that it's deceptively simple in appearance. Similar to Terunofuji in that it appears that he's just pushing a guy out because he's stronger, but in reality he's deftly anticipating, blocking and shutting down every defense and counter technique that's employed against him.

Seeing a classical Hoshoryu trip is always fun, shame on Kirishima as I like him as much as the next guy, but to see Hoshoryu come back to prime would be my highest wish (along with Onosato Yokozuna), speaking of which, ONOSATO MAKES OZEKI!! Also, Ura Kachi-koshi as well as having a great run, let me see Ura make Ozeki before he retire, he seems like the rikishi who loves sumo the most, can't say why since it's just the feeling I get, but he is smiling from his heart every bout, so having him be as good as ozeki or yokozuna and reach that rank would be amazing for the sport. Now, he's not there yet, but oh how I wish and hope.

I would be happy if Ura could become a Sekiwake before he retires. I was always adamant that Ura had the chops to be a great Ozeki and with some luck to become a Yokozuna. But that was before his injury took 30% of his mobility and power away. Not that Ura really ever relied on power. Let's take Kagayaki for example. He has an amazing body for Sumo, he is tall, but not too tall, heavy, but not too heavy, but he is fucking trash skill wise. He is completely unskilled and seems completely unmotivated most of the time, and relies purely on his own natural talent to stay in Makunouchi and Juryo. Ura is literally completely different. Ura meanwhile has no real strength to speak of, but he has the fucking skills and passionate spirit. The only person in last 10 or so years in the ring who was as skilled or even more skilled than Ura was Yokozuna Harumafuji.

Thanks Don Don. Great choice of bouts today, I approve. Oh boy, Onosato got lucky there. Kotozakura looks like he won that on the replay but Onosato and the crowd get the rematch. It is great to be popular, I guess. Anyway, congratulations to Onosato on the promotion to ozeki. He deserves it regardless of this iffy result imo. Congratulations to Daieisho too for his sekiwake promotion , he showed his power against Takayasu. Brilliant come from behind victories for Midorifuji and Wakamotoharu today. Fantastic effort. I was (still am) happy for Onosato's victory, but I read your comment, checked the replay and you're right. To be fair with the judges, if you watch it at normal speed it's really hard to see. And in the slowmo replay the angle doesn't help, so it was a tough call. Hope he keeps on winning to clear any doubts!

Yeah they really didn't care much when the gyōji made the absolutely wrong decision on day 3 with Kotozakura vs. Tobizaru. It was very obvious again in Koto's match vs. Onosato that Onosato won but the gyōji gave it to Koto. I agree they pushing Onosato but it the gyōji call was incorrect. I just wish the judges were consistent as Koto's match with Tobi was even more obvious that Tobi won.

I agree with you. Surprised that they awarded Onosato the rematch after the replay which showed Kotozakura with one foot in the ring while Onosato jumped out. Maybe it was a crowd influenced rematch because Onosato is super popular atm. Onosato wins the rematch against the limp Kotozakura and gains ozeki promotion. Very lucky for nervy Onosato but I am happy for his promotion nonetheless.
