Browns like big flies in still waters , especially in brown, yellow, orange, olive combinations. I have been laughed at by other fly fisherman for using large flies and nothing gives me more pleasure than show that they work on large browns and large rainbows in still waters. I have been doing since the early 1990's and of course you can get big bass with these large flies, Great video !

James, you are spot on. Big trout don't get trophy size by eating bugs. They eat meat. The mouth on a trophy brown is rather large.

Man… that is bad ass. I haven’t caught a big one yet…. A few nice bows but still waiting in the big brown. Thanks🤙🏽

Thanks, Eric. It can be a grind. Just stay after it. What part of the country are you fishing in?
@ericstewart4732 Жыл бұрын
@@InTheSpread eastern Sierra, California. Only been fly fishing passionately for about 3 years. We usually fish the upper Owens River. My buddy nailed a 24” off a streamer bouncing undercut banks. I’ve hit a couple 20-24” bows off streamers during the winter migration. I subscribed to your channel so look forward to some more learning. Thanks again.

Hey man, I love seeing someone taking patterns and making them their own! I tie pretty often and guide here in WV, PA, MD. I’d love to have a few of your patterns to try out on local waters and possibly display in the shop! If you’re interested in selling a bundle I would love to purchase some off you!

Hi Matt. Chad does not tie commercially anymore, as his schedule just doesn't allow it. We appreciate the interest. Thanks and fish on.

Thanks for sharing! I'm new to fly fishing streamers, so sorry if this is a dumb question - are you using a sinking line with these flies?
@InTheSpread Жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking Canon. You certainly could use an intermediate sinking line.

Where is a guy able to find large flies like these?? I know my local tackle shops dont carry anything like that even tho there is a healthy population of large browns in the area. Do you know of any websites a guy can order off of?
@InTheSpread3 ай бұрын
@@troyhankins1702 Probably the best way is to source them from guys that tie custom flies. Chad Bryson ties and sells these same flies he's discussing in the video. Find him at Etowah Valley Anglers. You could also contact the Fish Hawk in Atlanta, GA. Ask for Rob and see if he has a few recommendations.

What rods and line (weight, brands, etc) does he throw those flies on? Some of those are huge
@InTheSpread Жыл бұрын
It varies, but Sage rods and Rio line. Something in the 6 to 8 weight range. These flies look like they weigh a lot, but they are tied to present a larger profile without all the weight. You can check my fly tying videos on www.inthespread.com
