I want to say that my favourite Dalek scene from the RTD era is a tough pick, because there are so many good ones to choose from, but honestly? There's no question about it for me - Nine's horror at seeing the Metaltron, before turning to cruel and exalting joy has to be my pick. The first Dalek scene of the new series is fantastic.

One of my personal favourites is in Parting of the Ways when the Dalek demands that Rose predicts the Doctor’s actions and tricks her into revealing that the Tardis doesn’t have defences followed by the “You have predicted correctly”

I gotta be honest, my favorite moment in RTD era was "The Children of Skaro Must walk AGAIN." The delivery of that line and the musical score makes me think of ancient ancestors to the Daleks (Kaleds or even maybe the Dals prior to the war) chanting to give power to Sec's transformation, like this is the last hope that their species can escape the darkness.

Interesting thing about the Dals: according to the _I, Davros_ audio series, the Dals were wiped out before Davros was an adult (maybe even before his grandparents were born). However, Davros had a Dal book, which reveals that ‘Dalek’ means ‘Man-god’ in the Dal language.

@@Cybermat47 I LOVE that moment in I, DAVROS. When he speaks their native language, it felt so mysterious. It just adds to the mystique of this entire universe and that the Dals now have some sort of involvement in the Dalek's origins.

For me, the most memorable moment was the mass execution scene from the season for final two-parter. I distinctly remember my child self being freaked the heck out by it more than any previous Dalek action scene.

It's very where to see that in a Dalek episode. Where we actually see excution zones where Daleks are literally lining people up for Extermination. Must of the time, they kill in fights aiming at citizens and fighters regardless. This is literally a genocide factory.

Honestly I think nearly ever Dalek moment in the original RTD era is great and I'm looking to be seeing what good old Russell has in store from the Great Space Dustbins/Skaro's Dragons for his second era, by the way one of my favourite moment is in Parting of the Ways is the scene when the shower runner yells YOU LIED! THE BULLETS DON'T WORK! and she gets exterminated right on queue.

My favourite RTD era Dalek moment has to be their main faceoff with the Cybermen in the Torchwood warehouse room. The Dalek action sequences is Series 1, 3 and 4 were all fantastic, but for some reason, seeing the Cybus Cybermen (built up as a very serious threat throughout Series 2), Torchwood soldiers (who utterly despise all forms of alien life in the name of "homeland security") and the Preachers (who were on the Doctor's side and arrived specifically to stop the Cybermen) all converging on these four Daleks, who glide through in such a graceful, almost tranquil way (so much for "no concept of elegance" huh), and being powerless to stop them was riveting to watch. The shouts of "Exterminate/Delete", the shouting of the soldiers, and the vivid colours of the laser fire. Probably one of the most impressive scenes in RTD's era. My only criticism of the scene is that Murray Gold seemed to be asleep at the wheel. I love his music but for some reason he chose to play the Cyberman theme when the Cybermen are getting their arses kicked. This already-great scene would've been even better if the music had been something a bit more Dalek-y.

Funny you should say that, I actually made an edit of that scene which adds Segun Akinola's Dalek theme instead of the Cyberman theme: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJDbkneqiJmNsM0

The only downside to the Cybermen-Dalek encounter is that the Cybermen were the first to open fire in response to non-cooperation, even though the Dalek did nothing. This is so stupid, how could the Cybermen know that EVERYONE Daleks would refuse to cooperate, why did the Cybermen even take that they have an innate element in front of them, why show themselves on the bad side in front of a completely different form of life, the technical level of which is unknown?

Got to be the Seventh Doctor. He plays them off against each other, tricks Davros into destroying Skaro, and stands weaponless before a lone Dalek and literally TALKS it into destroying itself. Absolutely savage. They never stood a chance.
@dalekbumps
@dalekbumps Жыл бұрын
@@michaeltownley9144 I was going to say the Seventh Doctor too. I think there are other incarnations that have higher kill-counts, (the Eleventh Doctor's regeneration springs to mind) but the Seventh Doctor was the only incarnation who actively schemed against the Daleks and laid traps for them that would ultimately bring down the current incarnation of their empire. Runners-up include the Eleventh Doctor, the Second Doctor, the Tenth Doctor and the Thirteenth Doctor as they also have huge Dalek killcounts. Three and Five also get some credit for being among the few incarnations to physically attack and destroy Daleks, Three wrestles with a few in Planet of the Daleks and Five goes on an explosive killing spree in the final act of Resurrection of the Daleks before unleashing a bio-weapon on them

This is a random note to bring up, but was it ever stated why UNIT (Or I even think Torchwood) doesn't analyze and recreate Dalek weaponry in the event that another Dalek invasion occurs? I say this from a point of possible ignorance (due to not knowing everything UNIT/Torchwood related) but from past events, bullets only go so far, and you'd think the events of Stolen Earth would be enough for (at least) UNIT to think "maybe we should be upping our defenses to have at least something". 'Cause, admittedly, Stolen Earth is a worst case scenario. idk, if this was addressed, I would love to hear about it, but until then this is what's been rattling around.

Yeah, Humanity doesn't even try to reverse engine Dalek tech when they get into space. If they had then maybe conflicts such as the one from Into the Dalek or the events of Dalek Empire would've been more even.
@robotx9285

They probably don't do that since that be like making another atomic bomb level threat. What if they reverse engineer it so well that they are able to build Paradigm or SWD level guns.

I’m really sorry to be pedantic here but the character Diageros name is pronounced as Dye-Ag-Or-As Ik I’m being nitpicky but I’m just trying to help. IMO all of the Dalek moments in Stolen Earth are perfection and same with the parting of the ways. However, if I had to pick one single favourite moment from the RTD era i would pick the Argument between Sec, Caan, Thay and Jast from Daleks in Manhattan. It really helps to emphasise the development of the Daleks character and their similarities to humanity such as their tenacity to survive. It also shows off the individual personalities of the cult. The Daleks pride themselves so much on purity that the cult is completely blinded by hypocrisy. The very idea of the cult contradicts the Dalek imperative. It also has some of the best written Dalek dialogue in all of new who. This is strictly my personal opinion, you may disagree and that is fine. To each their own as they say. Xx

you're absolutely right, for whatever reason I've been pronouncing Diagoras' name like that since I was a kid and I have no idea why 😂 And yeah it was really hard choosing only 5 moments, I tended to go with ones that showcased the Daleks' power but I might do a follow-up video talking about more understated moments like the Doctor's initial reaction to the Metaltron in 'Dalek' and the scene you mentioned from Daleks in Manhattan. Maybe a '5 best Dalek dialogue moments' or something like that

@@dalekbumps ahah fair enough that’s understandable we all do it as a kid don’t we I suppose, then we get used to it ahah 😂. Yes I agree with you the moments you chose perfectly incapsulate and convey the night of the Daleks from the RTD1 era. That would be a fantastic (if you’ll pardon the pun) idea! Love your videos they are actually very helpful to those like myself who don’t really listen to a lot of big finish, explaining events that get explored in more depth. Your videos are also very fun to watch. Keep up the great work my friend. Keep calm and carry on being a whovinerd. I look forward to the next video 🤗. Xx

2:22 Your number three is my number one favorite Dalek moment, followed by the Dalek God Emperor and Lord President Rassilon’s argument in one of the Gallifrey: Time War audio dramas I own (ps. This scene has a visual version on KZbin that uses scenes from the parting of ways and the end of time edited together so well that it feels like you’re “watching” the “audio” drama, in case you want to see it I’ll include a link in a reply to myself), and finally my number three favorite Dalek scene is the God Emperor’s appearances in the Parting of Ways kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHOZdJykl7x7apI

I moved on from the clips because they were holding the channel back, it started to get boring. I only started doing them as something to keep my occupied during lockdown, and I much prefer scripting and editing videos rather than just uploading clips of other peoples' work. The BBC never seemed to have a problem with it but it still felt wrong to just repost clips. That's why I added the little lore tidbits in the descriptions, because I wanted to contribute something of value to the community and I think my newer style of videos are much better at that
