As a sub-1000 player my greatest success rate when opening e4 is, by far, when Black tries the Petrov. I don't know what they learn -if anything. I suspect they only know 2...Nf6 and then rely on working it out move by move. In at least 25% of games they fall for the discovered check Q trap on M6 and I win many other games within 12-15 moves. Only those who have clearly done some prep give me a serious game and then it is about 50/50 as I would expect -perhaps less as I don't get that many games to be familiar with such positions.

Great, but could you do a video about how and when to formulate a *plan* for a game? I get lost on knowing how to do this, and often lose games because in late middle game my pieces are totally uncoordinated. I've seen your videos on how to choose the best move, but I'm still uncertain about how to form an overall plan that coordinates all my pieces.
