Hi Tim, I purchased a 24 Limited Tundra in May (before I found out about the engine problems). I love the truck. I found your videos and immediately recognized the scenary. I grew up on a farm in Mitchell Valley. Currently living outside of Houston. Thanks for your great videos and keeping us informed on the Tundra developments.

You make good points about the hybrid: We really don't need any more damn towing ability in a 1/2-ton, we need affordability. Most of the recreational towing is probably be 6-7K or less. That'll cover most bumper pull TTs as well as utility trailers. That's all a 1/2-ton really needs to be able to handle, but it needs to handle that well.

True abut the 14 inch daytime display mode when set in the automatic control. It is way too bright and distracting in automatic mode. I switched to NOT using the automatic control and enabled the manual Dark mode for all the time and it looks way better and lest distractng (next to turing it off).

I had a new 23 Ford F150 loaded Limited that was totaled in an accident by some moron pulling out in front of me. I now have 24 Tundra TRD Pro. Both about the same price. I liked both trucks. The Toyota does have a better ride. Couldn’t find another F150 with the options I wanted (Ford kept dropping things like bed facing camera, heated steering wheel, no rear fender liners or mud flaps, etc because of chip shortage). The Tundra feels more powerful. Ford has a much better tailgate step by far. I miss the rear under-seat storage in the Tundra as the hybrid battery takes up all the space. Not pleased about the engine problems with the Tundra for sure as one of the main reasons to going Toyota was quality control and reduced maintenance over the long term. I keep vehicles for 10-15 years, so we’ll see if my choice was wise or not as time goes on.

Positives: Color (something other than the black, white, silver, and gray quadruplet), exterior (especially 1794 trim), and some more unique engineering underneath (rear axle construction). Negatives: No need for a hybrid (it's optional, I know, I would not option it), 4WD (I don't off-road, I don't worry about snow, etc), and the price (you need a better than better than average income to comfortably afford it!

Yeah, I tried out one of these vehicles. I gotta be honest, very disappointed. The design is questionable at best, and for what you pay for this vehicle, I'd expect more. So, let's point out the issues I had with this vehicle. 1. The interior who gave the green light to send the current interior to production? It's a mess that the quality of the interior feels cheap and low quality. The seats are lumpy and uncomfortable, and I had a horrible time finding a comfortable seating position. 2 the ride, yes, I know it's an off- road pickup, but come on, the ride was stiff and uncomfortable even over small imperfections in the road. Now I know Idaho's roads aren't the best. However, they're considering better than what you get in Wyoming or Washington, or even Oregon. That being said if you try to drive those roads over there in that truck. We'll let's just say you better have a skeleton made out of granite cause this truck will beat you up on those roads. The Ram Rebel and the GMC Sierra AT4 have better rides than this truck. 3 the engine and transmission combo is eh. The Tundra's transmission feels jerky at lower speeds and not much better at higher speeds. So Toyota should probably look into reflashing the computer interior transmission and try to make the shifts smoother. 4 tow hooks or lack of. You're telling me that on a nearly 80k truck, you can't get tow hooks. 🤷🤷. Come on, Toyota, get your shit together. 5 price the Msrp on those trucks is 70 to about 75k. However, because they're so exclusive to get ahold of a lot of the dealers are charging 5k over. So, over 80k for those trucks. So way over too much over in my opinion given the stuff I mentioned. For about the same amount of money, I could buy a Ram Rebel, an F150 tremor, a GMC Sierra AT4, or even an AT4X or even a ZR2 Silverado. No thanks. Toyota is a swing and a miss in my book. Toyota needs to do better.

Ahh the Tundra haters. I love my 22 platinum hybrid. You can cry all you want about how much you hate the Tundra, but I love it. I'm not a fanboy, just experienced. As you can imagine, I will never buy a Ford or Chevy. About my truck, auto step lets me in and out of the back quicker than a For or Chevy guy can undo their gimmick gate. Trucks in its class, Tundra out tows it. The looks of the Tundra inside and out, beautiful. Yes I am getting 21 mpgs. It does the job I need it to do. Keep hating, doesn't change my view.

@@jeffkondra8246 I missed the part where the American workers in Texas aren't getting money and spending it in their local, American, economy. What I don't like about it, is up until april 2024, it had the same ICE as the non hybrid model that cooks the main bearings. And no replacement for hybrids because Toyota isn't forced to do so. I used to own a '22 TRD Pro. Had it for a whole 6 months before i had enough...Traded it in for a '23 F150 Raptor and could not be happier. To that point, you mentioned folks comparing a TRD Pro to a Raptor...Not even close. The TRD Pro is probably more comparable to a Tremor (and the Tremor still beats it IMO). I agree it was a comfortable truck to drive until you had to turn lol. A couple of other dislikes for me...needs bigger tires from the factory (at least 35s). Turning radius is pretty horrible. Have they fixed a lot of the fit and finish issues that plagued the early Pros? You mention the price as being something you like...I whole heartily disagree. The MSRP for the '22 TRD Pro that I had was ~$66K. What makes the '24 model year worth $8K more? This is Toyota's greed. All and all the TRD Pro is a relatively boring truck. When i see one on the road now it doesn't even get a second glance like it used too.
